I got a very nice compliment from my husband the other day. He told me that I’m the smartest women he knows...and his intelligence is in the MENSA range. :)

He knows a good thing when he sees it.

I can’t think when there’s every been a “power struggle” in our marriage. He was a JERK when he was drinking (seven years sober now; I brought the hammer down when it came down to the bottle or me and the kids, ala Laura Bush, LOL!) but we really do function well as a team.

That alone is a big factor in the success of a marriage, IMHO.

And FWIW, we’ve gone back and forth over the years being the primary Breadwinner, but I can’t remember a time when one of us felt ‘put upon’ for carrying our share of the load along the way.

Funny you mention intelligence. Some study was done years ago about the top three things in what a man wants in a woman. These are the results (and in order):

1. Keen intelligence
2. Capacity to love
3. Good looks, good figure

Smart, loving and cute, in that order.

I love classical piano. Does she have any recordings?

She’s done quite alot of recording for Radio New Zealand (she specializes in Mozart, but I think her Rachmaninoff and Dohnanyi are amazing!) and she has recorded one CD of contemporary NZ music, which is her other specialty.

That’s a great list. We ‘Rubies’ need to stick together in this world and teach other young women what it’s all about. (Proverbs 31:10) :)
