Iran to build 2 health clinics in Bolivia, looks to expand medical aid to Latin America

LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) -- Iran's top diplomat in Bolivia says his country will open two low-cost public health clinics in South America's poorest nation. Business attache Hojjatollah Soltani said Friday the Islamic republic plans to use Bolivia as a base for future Red Crescent medical programs across the continent.

He did not offer details or cost figures for the clinics.

Bolivia and Iran, both outspoken critics of the United States, have only recently

I suggest the Bolivian embassy review its procedures for foreign nationals requesting amnesty.

Iranian expatriates in Bolivia? South America is surprisingly international - look at the presence of Japanese in Peru and Argentina, and Lebanese elsewhere in the continent.

Ahmadinejad: Iran, Bolivia are allies

Sep 2, 2008

TEHRAN, Iran: Iran and Bolivia will “stick by each other” said hardline Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Tuesday, in comments sure to provoke concern in Washington.

Ahmadinejad’s statements came at a joint press conference with leftist Bolivian President Evo Morales in Tehran. He said the two government weren’t interested in U.S. concerns about their close ties.

“We will stick by each other’s side and will be supportive of each other. (I) had extensive talks with Mr. Morales on this,” he said. “The geographical distance between the two countries is long but our hearts, thoughts and wills are very close.”

Ahmadinejad also praised Morales for “standing up to foreigners,” a reference to the United States.

Hezbollah builds a Western base

From inside South America’s Tri-border area, Iran-linked militia targets U.S.

May. 9, 2007
CIUDAD DEL ESTE, Paraguay - The Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia has taken root in South America, fostering a well-financed force of Islamist radicals boiling with hatred for the United States and ready to die to prove it, according to militia members, U.S. officials and police agencies across the continent.

From its Western base in a remote region divided by the borders of Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina known as the Tri-border, or the Triple Frontier, Hezbollah has mined the frustrations of many Muslims among about 25,000 Arab residents whose families immigrated mainly from Lebanon in two waves, after the 1948 Arab-Israeli war and after the 1985 Lebanese civil war.

Of course, they’ll blow them up using suicide bombers, but they will build them.

Castro used the same method to spread his brand of communism throughout Central and South America. Cuba established health clinics and sports training cadres in every country and with each one was a communist “community organizer.” They were very successful in teaching and spreading communism and anti-Americanism. The results of their work is still evident today.

I have not traveled the region since the late 70’s and am not certain whether or not they still operate, but suspect they have probably trained locals to do the same, and become even more sophisticated in their work.

Our State Departments in all these years were not smart enough to counter the Cuban initiative. They (Cubans) have capitalized on the embargoes over the years by presenting themselves as victims of Yankee imperialism and convinced the Hispanics, especially those living in the barrios that they were also victims, because of the US.

Remember that in most of Latin America, especially in the early days, there was no middle class, only rich and poor. Ripe pickings for communists.

When oil drops another $25, Bolivia will be building health clinics in Iran.
