(TN) Corker Praises Paulson Move To Purchase Company Stock

Sen. Bob Corker on Friday night praised Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson’s announcement that he would use the authority granted to him through the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act to buy senior preferred shares of non-voting stock directly from financial companies:

Sen. Corker said, "I applaud Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson's announcement tonight that he will use the authority that Congress granted him in the rescue bill to buy senior preferred shares of non-voting stock directly from financial companies which is the quickest way to inject liquidity into the markets, get credit flowing again and protect the taxpayer at the same time.

"I spoke this morning with Secretary Paulson and encouraged him to take this important step because it is the best way to quickly address this ongoing crisis that has crippled our credit markets and is putting tremendous stress on businesses across the state of Tennessee.

"I hope that he will use a large portion of the $700 billion he has been authorized to invest in this manner."

So then the question we must ask, is WHOSE money is he using to buy stock? Why doesn’t he just let Americans decide which stocks are viable, safe and worthy?

The current crop sucks rocks. I personally would like nothing more than to see Lamar! sent home, but we did send Fred Thompson up to the Senate and a little farther back, Howard Baker. 'Course, the Nashville and Memphis crowd did produce Algore and then there was "Limp" Frist.....

Who, Builder Bob? Let's hope not! He is grossly unqualified to be a sitting US Senator. Treasury Secretary would be way, way over his head (as most things are).....

I am most disgusted with President Bush for allowing this Democrat this much control over our economy.

Neither did I. I think most of Builder Bob's support came from the Nashville area. There certainly was significant opposition against him in 'Nooga because of his exploits when he was Mayor. I would much rather have seen Ed Bryant and/or Van Hillary represent us in the Senate.
