Hard cheese. The primary process was invented by old senators.

Apparently.

Pat Buchanan hit the nail on the head with this excerpt:

“Yet, Obama has only a six-point lead in an averaging of national polls. While he has moved ahead in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia, one senses America is not so much rallying to him as running away from a Republican brand that is now on the same shelf with Chinese baby formula.

Obama still has not closed the sale. He has overtaken McCain not because of any brilliant campaign he has conducted but because of the dreadful news pouring out of Wall Street. McCain and Palin are being dragged down by Dow Jones, not Barack Obama.

As of today, the country is not so much voting for Barack and the Democrats as it is preparing to vote against the Republicans.”

I see a slight problem here. Obama is not ahead in OH, FL, NC or VA. Other than that, Pat nailed it!!

It is up to the GOP to go on national TV with the timeline of how this financial disaster was “allowed” to happen by by whom. Name names and show “exactly” who was responsible. Allowing Pelosi and her horde of traitors to push the blame to the GOP is only being allowed because of a severe shortage of gonads within the GOP and at McCain HQ. IMO, our nation is at stake as well as our future, it’s time to name names, show video proof, and give the American people the harsh reality. Those that caused this disaster should be disgraced, prosecuted, and they should do jail time. Those that profited because of fraud and deception should lose every dirty cent they stole from the American people.

I’m angry, very angry, and I want to see those responsible punished and branded traitors. Americans will not live quietly in a Socialist country thanks to Liberals, the mainstream media, and Hussein Obama. Those that cherish their freedom and love their country, better speak up immediately and demand justice. The Muslim Messiah has to be defeated at the ballot box, his illegal contributions must be exposed, and all voter fraud associated with his supporters must be stopped.

For Buchanan to say we are in a cultural war is a non sequitor!

THAT’S OBVIOUS! But NOT electing McCain and hammering away at him from the conservative side does nothing to advance the conservative cause. Its about working like adults to do the best we can with the mess we have—the culture, the MSM, etc.—

Its one thing to DESCRIBE the state of affairs, and another to do something about them.

Tell that idiot that God will decide this election, and who is going to be elected.

Don't kid yourself, the voters will decide ... God doesn't care all that much about this election.

What He cares about is "working out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will" .. Ephesians 1:11 ...

What's that purpose you ask ...

And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment — to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ .. Ephesians 1:9-10

The outcome of an election in the year 2008 in a country that's a 232 year old blip on the surface of eternity matters about as much as a bucket of warm spit.

the good news is, God wins ... creation gets redeemed ... death is defeated ... and Christ reigns.

At the end of the day, not much else is important.

I know, I know .... I wasn’t trying to be mean.....a bunch were showing either side ahead at the time. As my point....polls aren’t accurate.

I like Pat as a fellow paleocon, but this article is more a Jeremiad against the MSM than campaign analysis. At this time in 2004, I was a lot more pessimistic, given the constant barrage by Rather/Mapes/Moore, et al.

I’m convinced McPal will win by a comfortable margin—I’ve had this opinion for months, and I see nothing to cause me to change it:

McPal have the Republican base pretty much locked up.
Obama needs all the Democratic base to achieve parity. He doesn’t have it. The PUMA’s despise Obama; they may not vote McPal, but they won’t vote for Obama. A lot of Reagan Democrats will defect as well, on the gun-rights issue if nothing else.

Obama’s only chance is for a huge amount of undecideds to break his way in the final week. I don’t see that as a possibility, and I’m convinced the opposite will happen; Obama’s too alien and weird to interest the average non-political Joe and Jane.

I didn’t like McCain’s conciliatory remarks about Obama, but IMHO they are the words of a politician whose internal polling tells him he has a comfortable lead, and sees no need to attack.

That said, I’ll continue praying and contributing to McPal. I’m in Colorado and just completed my mail-in ballot today, straight Republican.

She's more the type who gives you a moment of silence and then just starts laughing out loud! The 13 yr old is a giggler though and he has an "infectious" laugh. When he laughs, EVERYBODY laughs! :-)

For what it's worth, and if anybody wants to use it... I just took ALL the e-mail addresses in your posting and imported them into an e-mail list on a server that I own. Maybe this will make it just a little easier for people. I'm not limited by bandwidth or time. I pay my bill once a month, and the server sits in the hall way within sight of where I'm sitting now....so if somebody "wants" it, they'll have a mighty interesting time reaching it physically. The last 20 feet from the door to the server is a killer. :-)

So if people want to use it...fire away!

Thanks for the good word buddy. It’s just aggravating. Us hardcores were steady on for avoiding the turd Juan McPain and voting independent, and now that we’ve changed course because of Gov. Palin, the “regulars” have turned defeatist! Sheesh...no heart!....no fortitude!...no stomach! Defeatist cowards piss me off almost as much as RINOs!

I was feeling faint when I saw so many opportunities lost in that last debate. All I could think was that McCain was trying to keep the gloves off the Democrats so that they would pass the The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. He knew that they would use his attacks on Obama as a reason to further undermine the necessary work on the economic crisis and blame the results on his “inflammatory talk.” I am sure he was walking a tightrope with his arm tied behind his back.

This is why I saw it a critical mistake that he went through with the debate with the political stakes threatening to tie the failure of a economic solution to what he said in the debate.

Now that the bill has been signed by President Bush, McCain could do real damage to Obama in the final debate. I hope he does because that will be his last chance to win the presidency.
