McCain Camp, RNC to Spend $160 Million in Final Weeks
Fox News ^

Posted on 10/12/2008 10:41:16 AM PDT by Chet 99

John McCain's campaign and the Republican National Committee plan to spend "upwards of $160 million" in the final weeks of the presidential race, according to a senior McCain adviser.

This will represent a massive counter-attack to combat Barack Obama's lopsided spending advantage to date.

The McCain adviser told FOX News that, while Obama is outspending them in all but two of 14 battleground states, "that will change over the last four weeks."

As national and battleground state polls show McCain trailing Obama consistently, McCain is urging voters not to count him out.

"In case you missed it, this is about the seventh or eighth time that pundits have said 'McCain's campaign is in trouble,'" he told Wisconsin voters Thursday. "We fooled them then and we will fool them again."

Asked if McCain could still surmount Obama's polling leads, the McCain adviser said Missouri, North Carolina and Indiana are "either close to or leaning for" McCain, and that the Republican nominee "will win those without much issue."

"That brings us to 200 [electoral votes]," the adviser said. "The next level is where we make or break. We need to really worry about Ohio, Florida, Virginia and Nevada."

I happened to watch the 11:00pm ½-hour local news last night in Florida. There were three (3) minute-long Obama commercials during that half-hour, each one better than the last. There was one (1) 30-second spot by the RNC and it was lame.

I think they ARE sick of him only the MSM likes to make it LOOK like the people can’t get enough of him. All part of their “indoctrination”. God usually squashes people that act as if THEY are God. And people who are worshipping another human being the way they are will not fare much better with God, that is why they say He is a jealous God. These people better crack open their bibles, I guess “they know not what they do”.

NRA will be spending 40 million to defeat Obama.

Another 200 million in PAC that hasn’t been spent.
That’s a lot of cash. This should be an exciting 3 weeks.

As I reported on the Sunday thread, my mom told me about a new friend she made this week down at their condo pool. A lady came up to her and said she needed to vent...she just had to get away from the TV and hearing about that Obama!

They caught my attention.

Someone who hasn't been following this election might have taken them at face value and be swayed. Off hand, I can't remember all three but one was “patriotic” . . . all about grandma and grandpa: Rosie the Riveter and GI Joe. It seems so strange that grandma's been hidden away and is not being used as a prop.

Before the vice-presidential debate, my grandson's teacher asked the 7th graders who were the two VP candidates. My grandson was the only person in the class who knew! It's hunting season, ya know.

He was one of three or four in his class who watched the debate and wrote a report for extra credit. He thought it was boring but thought that Sarah taked to the people while Biden talked through the people. He liked Sarah.

On another note, I've seen about a dozen McCain/Palin signs in the area and none for that other guy.

Expect McCain to have trouble getting time slots for his ads the last couple weeks of October. Always a good strategy to announce your strategy all over the place well in advance.
