If it was legal, it was her RIGHT and judge should be impeached, recalled, fired, whatever it takes.

Why, he overruled the stupid sheriff who should have known better than to try to take the gun and have her permit lifted.

Unfortunately I agree with you. They’re in a very small minority.

The days when the sheriff would raise a posse of townspeople to go get the bad guys are over.

Because the judge had no reason or cause to lecture a LAW ABIDING CITIZEN like a headmaster, that’s why.

He should have lectured and censured the sheriff, not the citizen who only availed herself of a sacrosanct God-given right.

But he didn’t. Just another jerk in a black robe.

Q: “What do you say to a lawyer with an IQ of 50?

A: “Good morning, Your Honor.”

It is obvious that you haven't spent much time in courtrooms.

<>He should have lectured and censured the sheriff, not the citizen who only availed herself of a sacrosanct God-given right.

But he didn’t.

How do you know he didn't? And, it's even possible he figured that his publicly overruling the heriff's stupidity was enough.

Just another jerk in a black robe.

Could be. I'll save my opinion until I know a bit more than shown so far. Q: “What do you say to a lawyer with an IQ of 50?

A: “Good morning, Your Honor.”

That is quite often the case.

And, by the way, the right to own and carry a weapon is not a sacrosanct God-given right -- it is a right granted by the 2nd Amendment ro the Constitution.

I must respectfully, but strongly disagree.

God gave us that right. Congress assembled enumerated those rights. It says so, right there in the document.

Our right to liberty and self-defense comes from God (or nature, if you are a deist, like Jefferson). Our power to defend ourselves comes from jealously guarding that right that God gave us.

And, not only do I have the right, I have the power to enforce my God-given rights.

Anyone saying different can pound sand and play javelin catcher.

it is a right granted by the 2nd Amendment ro the Constitution.

I suggest you do a little research on the Bill of Rights. They 'grant' NOTHING.

The Bill of Rights enumerates certain rights, nothing more.

Try reading the damned thing sometime.

Wow. Get a load of what passes for a 'conservative' these days.

That poster Turret Gunner thinks my Rights come from a piece of parchment.

What a fool....

If you've got a rolling block breech loader or a muzzle loader, your power to defend your rights may come wrapped up inside a piece of greased parchment. But that's as close as it comes.

Our unalienable rights come from God. It's up to us to defend them. Folks in the USSR had the same God-given rights. Only they didn't defend them, or got wiped out trying to.

[1] Is there some reason why you are so angry; [2] are you just another flamethrowing troll, trying to hijack the threadl or [3] is it that you lack an IQ high enough to carry on a civil discussion?

Now with those three serious questions out of the way, I'll ask you another one back the subject -- If, as you seem to claim, your right to carry a weapon is a God-given one, where in the Bible (or in whatever Book your faith uses) did you find that stated??

Self defense as a natural right is a no-brainer for Christians and non-christians. Biblically, and traditionally, we have the right to defend ourselves. "If someone attacks you at night, rise up and slay him" is part of the Hebrew tradition.

Looking at the other side... Evolutionarily, species that don't defend themselves go extinct quickly. See Dodo, and passenger pigeon.

So, on this matter, religion and academia are in harmony.

Leave it to government to screw with something that has worked well for 30K+ years.

And then there's the power thing. I have firearms to enforce my God-given right to self defense. I have the power to defend that. I may be overpowered. Maybe.

If I don't retain the power, I am at the mercy of anyone stronger than me.

I chose to not be stupid.

Jesus told the apostles, "If you do not have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one"

Very good. Now tell me where in United States Law has that been recognized as binding on upon anyone other than the Apostles?

Jesus did not hold any office in the government of the United States; the executive branch, the legislative branch, nor the judiciary. so his order did not and does not carrry any legal weight here and now.

You’re right, but the government doesn’t recognize Hebrew tradition as law. And they mhave the power to put your fanny in jail if you defy their prohibitions concerning the carrying of guns and/or other specified harmful instruments.

I also have firearms to defend myself -- and have done so in the past. However I am not stupid enough to claim that ownership as God-given when Iknow it is not.

When are you going to cite where you found thta such a right ws given by God?

You asked "where in the Bible (or in whatever Book your faith uses) did you find that stated?"

I gave you that.

Tell me where the Constitution of the United States says that citizens don't have the right to defend themselves.

And the Supreme Law of the Land is "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

That seems to be enough. And if it's not, and you want to take away my right and ability to self defense, I'll be glad to meet in person to argue the point.

It's very empowering to be free, armed, and over 21. To modify an old saying to something better than PC.

Only problem is that I might think I run the government, instead of the other way around.

It's gotta suck to be a liberal these days. Conservatives have all the move, shoot, and communicate stuff.

I said: "You asked "where in the Bible (or in whatever Book your faith uses) did you find that stated?"

I gave you that.

No you didn't. you gave me what Jesus told 12 men to do. I'm sorry but that carries absolutely no weight in the courts of the United States of America. If you think it does, try it sometime, and then stand back while the judge gives you a rather stern tongue lashing.

Tell me where the Constitution of the United States says that citizens don't have the right to defend themselves.

{i} It doesn't.

[2] That is not the subject of this discussion -- the carrying of weapons by individual citizens is the subject.

And the Supreme Law of the Land is: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Quite right. But where does it say that God gave you those rights?

That seems to be enough.

Enough for what? To prove that those rights were given to you by God? Not enough for that. Sorry.

And if it's not, and you want to take away my right and ability to self defense.... Where the devil did you come up with that? Why the hell would I care about whether or not you have the means of self defense?

I'll be glad to meet in person to argue the point.

There is no argument to it. That's settled -- whether you like it or not, God did not give you the right to carry a gun.

If you think he did, then dig up a citaation in law to prove it -- United States Law, not Hebraic tradition or Biblical conversation. Neither of those is enforceable law in this country.
