It wasn’t the SDS. It was SNCC leader Stokely Carmichael.

Hmmm. Actually I think your post was intended for mquinn.

Having said that I agree with both of you that McCain will not win this thing based on Ayers. But it is still a legitimate issue that speaks to the character of Obama in a profound way. Unfortunately, the left is not concerned with character.

Equally unfortunately, I don’t think McCain is going to win on a discussion of the financial crisis. He has clearly demonstrated that he cannot speak clearly on the subject. You are completely right that the Dems will hang it on the right for a generation. If we had a candidate who was genuinely articulate they could make the case.

I like John McCain, but his ability to present complex ideas in an understandable fashion is only marginally better than GWB whose biggest failure (in general) has not been his policies, but his incompetence behind the bully pulpit.

She's obviously a basket case, which is probably why he preyed on her. What does it mean when she says I had to prove to him I wasn't a bigot, so I went and laid down on the black guy's bed?

It shows the stupidity and naive weakness of a liberal worldview. It is an attempt at rationalizing a choiceless situation. She wanted out, and percieved a way out.

You don't get to rape someone because they may be a "basket case"

Hogwash. Sexual compliance under that kind of duress is most certainly rape.

I agree. It is also kidnapping. Proving these charges may be difficult but an ambitious DA would not hesitate to file charges if the woman was credible.

This article needs to be viewed in the context of the White female submission in Frank Marshall Davis’s (Obama’s mentor) “Sex Rebel” book. The sexual component of CPUSA operations/recruitment was, if nothing else, consistent.

Very graphic content:

She didn’t put up much of a fight, no lamp to the head, kick to the balls, nothing. She should have had a knife on her at least, heck just a little stab in the eyeball or throat and that rapist would have gotten out of the way.

Lesson to the willing.

....IF ITS NOT WORTH FIGHTING FOR, DON’T COMPLAIN ABOUT LOSING IT.

kinda like America today.

Why is he allowed to walk our streets a free man?

Why is he allowed to be a professor in a school that receives taxpayer dollars?

Why is his wife allowed to work in a law department of another university that receives taxpayer dollars?

What is seriously wrong with this country?

In 30 years Bin Laden will be a professor at Columbia and he will introduce a new education program where the school uniform includes bricks of C4...

Obama is an empty suit and really nothing more than the sum of his context. Thus, the context is very important.

Furthermore, I see it in many of the people who want to elect the marxist bama. They don’t know anything, and they don’t care that they don’t know. They just want to shake things up and stick it to the man. The think its interesting. He’s new, fresh. It really is the American Idol mentality.

I respect that. I think what hung you up is the issue of personal responsibility and on that you are exactly right and I do agree. It’s like the age old question of whether the woman who dresses provocatively is inviting sexual assault. I believe that courts have come down on her side over and over. But she is still an idiot for dressing that way.

But in situations like tho one described in the article, one’s ability to rightly conceive of personal responsibility or to act on that is compromised. And as ecomcon put it, “ You don’t get to rape someone just because she’s a basket case.”

They talked in lofty ideological abstractions, but they also used their political sophistication as a lure for young women who wanted to be on the right side of the great social issues of the day.

Translation: leftist males see their activism first and foremost as a way to pick up young girls who are pretty and naive.

Their desire is understandable, given that the older, less naive women on the left tend to be angry, thin-lipped harridans.

He moved quickly to block me at the doorway. He locked the door and put the chain on it. I went to the couch and sat down and told him that I had no intention of having sex with his roommate and his brother or him. He said that I had no choice but to do as he said if I wanted to get out of there.

That is rape. Sex despite expressed lack of consent, and under the duress of a threat of force or violence. You are an ugly goon to try to argue otherwise. Again, if you want to know why conservatives are dispised look in a mirror. You are trying to split an unsplitable legal hair on something that decent people know is just plain wrong.

Kidnapping, yes... but the threat of being labelled “bigot” is not duress enough to force a reasonable person to comply. She wasn’t forced. She was guilted into it. The same thing happens constantly in every middle school in America. My black friends said it was the easiest way to get laid when they were in their teens. I wouldn’t be surprised if half of all white girls who have had only one sexual experience with a black male did it within hours of being asked, “What, are you racist?”

Sex despite expressed lack of consent

By her own admission, when "asked" to, she walked over to the bed of her own volition, and laid down (no mention of who removed her clothes, though). That is consent enough to avoid a rape charge. All she had to do was sit down, continue to say no, and wait for the door to be opened, or for them to mover her physically to the bed... THEN it's rape. She basically wanted to get it over with, and complied. Not the most romantic scenario... but not legally rape, either.

(Heck, if the female "jeez louise, let's get it over with" impulse is tantamount to rape, then most marriages feature rape on a regular basis.)

“Pschopath” is exactly right. It galls me whenever I hear a sound bite from him, as though being soft-spoken means he can’t be a horror of a person. Everything this POS does is meant to fool the fools.

Look in the mirror at the face of another loser.

Once the woman has said no, the exit way was blocked, the door was locked and the threat of force of violence was issued, it is rape.

The difference between "psychopath" and "sociopath", as far as I can tell, is whether you think it's primarily caused by a mental disorder or socialization disorder. I think the evidence favors the former and the term "psychopath" has been returning to favor. You can find some good deatils here.

But... but.... consensual sex between a husband and wife is rape, as a professor from the University of Michigan said a while back, so coerced sex between a man and an eighteen year old girl has GOT TO BE rape.

The Weather Underground was blowing up buildings around the same time at Hoffman, Senator Hayden and their lemmings were planning the take down of the Chicago Convention. One group was all about riots and disorder, the other was very secretive in making bombs and selecting targets. Although they were both against the war and the establishment, their ways of going after their goals were very different.

Removing her ability to leave the room would likely be considered Abduction or Kidnapping under state law. After removing her ability to leave the room and telling her that she had to have sex with two different men before she could leave the room would certainly seem to be coercion. Coercion is an element of the crime for rape in most states.

I'm not well versed on Michigan law, but I believe that the elements of a crime for rape are there; (i.e. She was abducted in the room and coerced into permitting two men to penetrate her sexually before she was permitted to leave.)

Proving the crime would be a more difficult matter of course.

Like HELL they are a distraction.

These episodes define exactly who Ayres is and thus who Obama is.

They transcend economic discussions, they transcend Obama’s “voting record.”

People INDICATE THEIR CORE by their circle of friends.

Ayres was, and is, a confidant, business partner - and assuredly friend - of Obama.

It took courage for this woman to write this. God bless her.

Would some on this site show some respect for that courage instead of, anonymously and ignominiously, slighting it and her.

Proving the crime would be a more difficult matter of course.

Proving this in a criminal court would be difficult because of the lack of independent witnesses and so whether or not the facts are as stated would be her word against the alleged perps words.

OTOH, if the facts are as stated here, then it is rape, and kidnapping, as you cogently pointed out.
