Palin's Failin' (Noonan Barf Alert)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 10/17/08 | Peggy Noonan

Posted on 10/16/2008 10:11:33 PM PDT by acsuc99

But we have seen Mrs. Palin on the national stage for seven weeks now, and there is little sign that she has the tools, the equipment, the knowledge or the philosophical grounding one hopes for, and expects, in a holder of high office. She is a person of great ambition, but the question remains: What is the purpose of the ambition? She wants to rise, but what for? For seven weeks I've listened to her, trying to understand if she is Bushian or Reaganite—a spender, to speak briefly, whose political decisions seem untethered to a political philosophy, and whose foreign policy is shaped by a certain emotionalism, or a conservative whose principles are rooted in philosophy, and whose foreign policy leans more toward what might be called romantic realism, and that is speak truth, know America, be America, move diplomatically, respect public opinion, and move within an awareness and appreciation of reality. But it's unclear whether she is Bushian or Reaganite. She doesn't think aloud. She just . . . says things. Her supporters accuse her critics of snobbery: Maybe she's not a big "egghead" but she has brilliant instincts and inner toughness. But what instincts? "I'm Joe Six-Pack"? She does not speak seriously but attempts to excite sensation—"palling around with terrorists." If the Ayers case is a serious issue, treat it seriously. She is not as thoughtful or persuasive as Joe the Plumber, who in an extended cable interview Thursday made a better case for the Republican ticket than the Republican ticket has made. In the past two weeks she has spent her time throwing out tinny lines to crowds she doesn't, really, understand.

from her bio on peggynoonan.com:

her alma mater, Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Before entering the Reagan White House, Noonan was a producer at CBS News in New York, where she wrote and produced Dan Rather’s daily radio commentary. She also wrote television news specials for CBS News. As editorial and public affairs director at WEEI-AM, the CBS owned station in Boston, she won the Tom Phillips Award for broadcast commentary. In 1978 and 1979 she was an adjunct professor of journalism at New York University.

She lives in New York City.

The problem is obvious, it's in the East. Northeast that is. See BS and Dan Rather,

New York City

Peg Noone has a severe case of jealousy. “Oh boo hoo, if I could just be as pretty, classy, sexy, enthusiastic, inspiring, hunt moose, shoot a gun, ride a snowmachine, fish, quick on my feet, and most of all be loving mother and wife then I could be just like Sarah.” “Well, since I cannot do any of that then I will just be a jealous bitch.”

She just . . . says things.

So does Peggy Noonan, and most of it is garbage of recent date.

Just take the job with PMSNBC already, Peg.

What is the purpose of the ambition? (She) wants to rise, but what for?

PN should be asking the One that question...

Whatever happened to the phrase “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”...

I used to like Peggy Noonan, but have realized that she must have lost something when going through menapause because she turned left and went off the cliff politically.

You know back when Peggy Noonan was first on the scene I use to see her in interviews all the time. I don’t or didn’t know what the fuss was all about. She didn’t seem terriblly bright then and she really seems just plain dumb now. Maybe she just isn’t getting all the attention she use to. I cannot for the life of me figure her out. I think her 15 minutes is long over.

Poor Peggy has been milking her connection to Reagan for the past twenty years, but the well’s run dry. Maybe she needs to find another topic to write about other than politics to recharge and find her muse again. She’s starting to sound like that awful Doris Kearns Goodwin, who seems to be on television every day for the past thirty years and no matter what the topic is, she will always somehow relate it to JFK. Maybe Peggy and Doris should go on a Road Trip.

MSNBC loves peggys drivel. We all need to speak in BS terms to garner respect from the upper classes of snotdom.

If there is any justice in the world, Peggy will be unable to pay her taxes under an Obama regime and will have to leave Manhattan and live in a rural community of hockey moms.

Buying “Prime Time” Palin 30 minutes on national tv will win this election——but perhaps even better, it would drive these prunes bonkers-30 minutes of green-eyed torment.-:)

Does she actually think that if she had followed Harry Truman around for a couple of months in 1944 that she could have taken his measure? Most people In Washington thought of Harry as a vulgar little man of small intellect and low character. and said so behind his back. His wife hated the place so much she spent much of the time in Independence.

Ohhh, I dunno, Peggy. Maybe squishing your jealous lil' peabrain under her stiletto heel. But that's just a guess. Sheeeesh!

Peggy is lofty; Peggy is elite; Peggy is intellectual; Peggy philosophizes; Peggy ponders.

Peggy has the right to criticize poor Palin, who only governs the largest state in the union, has a hunk for a husband, can manage 5 children, a job, and run a campaign for VP of the US, draw a crowd of 20,000, talk to Henry Kissinger or Joe the plumber with equal ease, and make it impossible for anyone to take a bad picture of her.

Yep, poor Peggy, ah, er, poor Palin.

Sarah Palin’s record and policy positions are an open book, I can tell you her motivations they are well known.

And this jackass Peggy Noonan pretends Palin is such a mystery that she has no idea why palin is in politics??

Noonan is scum and she thinksObama and the democrats are about to control everything and she is selling her sorry ass out so they will accept her as their intellectual equal.

They can have her she IS their pathetic equal.

I’ve watched this phoney shrew noonan flip her hair and be self impressed for years and I have always disliked her, I know exactly what drives her hollow ambition.
