Joe the Plumber, Lets pay off his tax bill of $1,200
http://palin247.com ^

Posted on 10/16/2008 10:37:57 PM PDT by steve0

Lets raise money for Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher (aka: Joe the Plumber) to Pay his back taxes of $1200.00. I already have some Freeper donated money from another project. It would be better to have many small donations with lots of people than one big one from only one person.

If donations exceed $1,200.00, all additional money will go to freerepublic.com.

TOPICS: Politics/Elections; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: joetheplumber; mccain; wurzelbacher
I have about $350.00 left over from the last project that I am still working on. (The Freepers that donated then said I could keep what they gave me.) I am willing to mail it to him or try and pay his tax bill directly online if we can secure enough money and he gives us the ok. Go to palin247.com to use paypal or pm me for Joe's mailing address.

I’m guessing that the McCain campaign is paying Joe handsomely for use of his name and face. OTOH, he can probably use whatever he gets. Go for it.

Nah, he can pay his own taxes, but I might be interesting in some venture money for his new plumbing business, but only if Obama loses.

The lesson here is you can't fall behind in paying your involuntary taxes -- because that money needs to go to people who fall behind in paying their voluntary sub-prime mortgage.

I get the feeling the media would stick it to Joe no matter what he owed because of who he dared question.

Normally I would agree with you, but in this case I think it would be a good thing for the world to see a conservative group like this supporting someone like Joe who has been raped by the media.

If we could do this in a way that really embarasses Obama and the media.....not just give him the money but PRESENT it to him and say why. Maybe FOX will film it since Obama is now taking them on.

Of course Joe isn’t a charity, so it’s income, and thus taxable, and he hasn’t yet come out unambigously for McCain.

Disagree. Help the guy on the side, sure, dont blab it around (this is essential Christianity) and if Joe himself wants to mention that some conservative groups helped him, that would be his option and fine with me. Give Joe the option (sheesh, I sound like I know the guy!). Dont give the libs something more they can yap on about, re: VRWC conspiracies.

You can give someone a gift w/o it being taxed. Taxes are assessed on EARNED income, not on gifts. I’d check it with a lawyer type around here but I do believe I am right.

Isn’t it pathetic all the things you have to consider in order to do something nice for someone?

It’s a gift. Anyone can give someone else a gift (up to $10K, corrected for inflation) without incurring federal tax for either party.

There are several types of gifts. Christain giving, which yes should be secret. Then there is an act, whatever it may be, including giving, to make a point. I am not anxious to pay Joe’s taxes. Normally I would say pay his own taxes, and if this situation caused him some financial distress I would be eager to help him out in that regard in a Christain way, but the media is so out of control it is unreal. They NEED a slap in the face and this may be a way to deliver it to them.

exactly. it all starts and ends WITH JOE and what HE wants. maybe somebody might ask him. he might say, “thanks, but donate it to a charity or somewhere else”. remember, Joe precisely lectured us on the evils of handouts.

Mike Huckabee said to Greta last night (after the debate) that Joe the Plumber would be a guest on his show “Huckabee” this Saturday night at 8pm ET on the Fox News Channel. (”Huckabee” re-airs on Sunday, 8pm ET)

"I’m guessing that the McCain campaign is paying Joe handsomely for use of his name and face."

But you don't need to guess what tomorrow's headlines would look like if (a) McCain was paying him anything at all, or (b) some knothead started a rumor that he did it for pay.

As to the pay the taxes thing, I'll go for it but any checks will be made out to the IRS and not to Joe.

Ya all have a point. Joe may be embassed by that. I just feel so sorry about what has happened to him. Good grief, his job is threatened, his reputation sullied. It is just not right. I was upset about Sarah Palin, but at least she stepped into it knowing what could happen...well sort of, who would ever have imagined how vile it could get, but Joe, he stumbled into this and it may be Joe that ends up being the moment tht turns this election. We owe him a great deal, even if it doesn’t turn the election, because at least now America knows what the choice is.

Bad idea. Joe’s a big boy, he can take care of it.

I'm not so sure he couldn't use some friends right about now. He's going to get crucified by the fascist left. I imagine that they're going to prevent both his acquiring a plumber's license and the loan he'll need for the business he wants to eventually buy.

They are out to utterly and completely destroy the man.

Out of sympathy and gratitude for his actions, I would donate to either the tax fund or a venture capital fund.

yup. i like the idea of helping the man, but not if we are going to toot our own horn. joe dont seem like the kind of guy that would be comfortable with charity. i am sure if he needed help he has family and yet he chose to suffer along. THAT SAID, this can be done right. not as a way for conservatives to take credit, but for EVERY AMERICAN who believes in lower taxes (think indys and even dems). We could (there are some computer saavy freepers)open a website, for donations, under the banner of saving “joe the plumber” from “senator government”! pay pal could be set up, to insure safety. trust me, the website would get media attention and plenty of donations. we can show obama that true Americans dont need the governments help, that CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME. just a thought:)

Here are the licensing requirements in Ohio. Maybe we can get him the books he needs if there is anything left over. He has the 5 years experience so he probably needs to fix his credit to get the $500,000 bond and take the test.

I'd love to help Joe and will contribute as long as he agrees to the help. I am incredibly angry about what they are doing to him. He didn't ask for this. Who in their right mind will ask questions now if this is what happens?

This is one bail out I am for and think it can be used to make a statement if we do it carefully.

Tried to call him, his neighbor, and his boss but either busy or disc. It would be great if he had a paypal account, then we could help him out again later if the media succeed in getting him fired or other. May be best to mail him a check so then with your canceled check you’ll know Joe actually received the money.
