Posted on 10/17/2008 9:27:25 AM PDT by mad_as_he$$
Several on FR have suggested that we help Joe the Plumber with his back taxes. I did some research and it seems he lives close to the Huntington Bank Spring Meadows Branch,
7203 Airport Highway
Holland, oh 43528-7829
Phone: (419) 254-7023
I spoke with a very nice lady there who thought I was joking about opening an account for Joe to help him with his back taxes.
What we need is for someone with a registered charity in Ohio or some registered business to open an account for Joe (real name: Samuel J. Wurzelbacher) After it is open please post the routing and account info so we can transfer money in.
We will then need to let Joe know and arrange access for him. Go Joe the Plumber the FReepers have your back.
Ping me when ya have it PLEASE !
wouldn’t setting up a paypal account be more productive?
Why can’t we just send our money straight to him?
Let me know when we can actually help with his taxes.
Paypal would be the way to go.
Joe’s not looking for a handout. Don’t insult him.
We should be able to send money directly to him. Anyone can give anyone a gift for any reason, so long as it doesn’t exceed gift limits (which I believe are around $12,000 per donor). After that, gift taxes kick in, so keep it smaller than the max.
He’s going to need a lawyer.
The left will throw everything they can at him, backed by the money of ACORN and the 0bama campaign, if not Soros himself.
So that’s what happens in the once-great USA! You say something that the establishment doesn’t like, and they look into their “wanted” files to get something on you. Let’s see now if they try to get him for not paying parking tickets. Let’s see if the IRS audits him.
The American media is 100% marxist.
put me on the ping list!
Apparently, he’s lost his job for speaking out:
With all due respect, he may appreciate the support, financial or otherwise.
Absolutely. You lose a huge percentage of potential donors if they have to sit down, write a check, address an envelope, put a stamp on it and mail it.
A paypal account is the only way to go. However paypal asks that you seek advance permission for this sort of thing.
He will bigtime need legel advice. Also I predict this will backfire on those libs factions that you have mentioned.
I would be happy to accept any donations for Joe, transfer them to my firm's trust account and then be sure that he receives them. Just say the word and I will share my PayPal account info.

Couldn’t a trusted Freeper “own” the account and when you are done rasing funds, you could directly pay Joe?

I don’t think keeping it below $12k is a real problem. If someone has an issue keeping gifts below $12k, I am in Ohio and will accept any overflow. ;)
Can you clarify your position?
Tell me you’re not comparing a bunch of FReepers voluntarily helping someone out with forced wealth redistribution.
Let Joe pay his own damn taxes. What’s wrong with you people?
The Joe I saw will hit you with a pipe wrench if you offer charity to him.
I think people are reacting to the attacks he has been receiving and want to help. I see nothing wrong with that.
If reports are true, he has LOST HIS JOB because he asked Obama a simple question.
I don't think it's an insult to try and help him against the thugs on the left. I sent him a check to day for 50$, and noted if he didn't want the money, to send the check back, or donate the money to military/veterans causes. This isn't just an assault on Joe. It's an assault on the middle class, and tyrannical attempt to “chill” other average Joe's from speaking up. All Joe did was ask a question, and Obama exposed himself as a Marxist in his response.
You could probably do it without Paypal noticing, but if it was noticed the account might be terminated. I use paypal a lot (even though I sort of hate them) so I wouldnt want to take the risk.
I think our Ohio lawyer is a much better solution.
I do. He put himself in this situation. Let him use his own wits to get out of it.
Tipping Hillary's waitress is one thing. This is just plain dumb.
count me in.
No one is forcing you to help. If other folks want to chip in a few bucks of their own money, I dont see why it bothers you.
Some people buy lottery tickets, some buy cigarettes, some want to help Joe.
Your cash do what you want...... Make the guy rich for a day. Just remember he's only one vote and he was where he was to see Obama.
“I do. He put himself in this situation. Let him use his own wits to get out of it.”
Not a real people person, are ya?
IIRC Obama was going door to door.
It's a total embarrassment for the entire FR site and conservative movement for people to participate in such a charade.
Yes please on the paypal.
If someone wants to set up a Paypla great. i will not do business iwht them.
Count me in for setting up a site for donations pro bono.
Maybe not, but I understand welfare when I see it. This is just privatized welfare.
Some clarification: He was in his OWN front yard. 0bama approached HIM.
Yes, he was where he was when he was for the very purpose that he performed, but it wasn't the will of any earthly entity that he was.
Crap!! I don’t know where to send my check and feel secure about it.
You’re as bad as the worst leftists that I’ve ever talked to.
You have no clue that there is a huge difference between charity (voluntary) and welfare (FORCED).
"Privatized welfare" is also known as "charity", and is a Good Thing when engaged in by caring people who do so voluntarily, out of the goodness of their hearts.
Jesus Christ taught that we should do so.
The IRS would swoop down on him wanting their share.
Charity to the undeserving is Welfare.
Joe is undeserving. Screw him.
Alrighty then. Tell us how you REALLY feel.
So I hear, I stand corrected.
Why not wait until our Ohio lawyer sets up an account that can be earmarked to directly pay the taxes.
They can probono an hour to get the correct info.
No, it's not. Welfare is done at the point of a gun. Charity is voluntary.
And just how is he "undeserving" if those who are voluntarily giving determine him to be deserving?
