Shortly before 9 PM today, Saturday, October 18, I received an Obama robo-call from someone claiming to be a plumber in Fairfax. I wasn't able to catch his name. Has anyone else heard this? I'm curious to know who this person is.
Moreover, these calls are already annoying, but to get one at that hour of the evening when I'm trying to get the kids down to sleep is extremely irksome.
A plumber, huh?
Did he say he wanted to be taxed more and is looking forward surrendering the American Dream to Socialism?

If you can, tell them “Oh man, I really want to talk to you. Have one thing to do first, can you hold on?” Then put them on hold and go watch TV.
Tell him you want to contribute but have to go to the bathroom first, set the phone down and just leave it there.
I put the phone down and let the message play out (figuring this would slightly decrease the number of calls they could make, if at least by 1) but I didn’t listen to it.
If it was a real plumber, it was probably some union thug.
We got the same call. My husband answered the phone and hung up after a few seconds. He said all he heard was someone saying he was a plumber for obama. Then my husband said he felt dirty for having answered that vile call.
I got a robocall from Governor Palin this morning and my husband is feeling cheated that he answered the plumber for obama call. I loved the Sarah call.

I think a called on Laura Ingraham said that she got a call from Bob the plumber.
Or that. ;)
If it’s a live person, it’s more fun to make up some non-existent product and pretend to try and sell it to them.
Was his name Joe?
Or perhaps Josef?
Maybe Uncle Joe?
No return #? Yeah that sounds pretty irritating. Are you on the do not call list?
Unfortunately, most of the Robo phone calls I have gotten from the Obama camp are pre-recorded messages I just hang up. ;-)
I’m pretty sure that political calls, and certain charities, are exempt from do-not-call restrictions.
His last name might be Stalin!
I was not aware of that.
If you have caller ID (if not blocked) note their phone number. If caller ID is blocked, use *69 to call back last received call and note what number shows up. Then publicize that number widely (perhaps on FR ;) Someone out there might have a Robo-caller of their own that coincidently would repeatedly call that number. Or just a lot of average “Joe the Plumbmers” might repeatedly call that number. They can’t call out if their line is busy with incoming calls.
Note, don’t attempt to do this from any Repubican campaign phones.
Interesting. I’m from Ohio and got a call from “John the Plumber” supporting BHO.
I’m willing to bet this is to cause confusion among the electorate. For those who don’t follow the news closely, they hear about “Joe the Plumber” and then get a call from “John the Plumber” thinking it’s the same guy.
Pretty devious.
Sorry for the secondary post, but it sounds like they could be added after this election.
The # was (804) 431 5001.
Better yet, put the phone on speaker setting, then turn on the TV, loudly tuned to Fox News or some conservative radio host. Or proceed to have a loud conversation with your spouse or an imaginary friend, discussing the Obama/Ayers connection, the Obama/Odinga connection, the Obama/ACORN connection, etc etc.
Very interesting, when combined with this: http://my.barackobama.com/page/s/reportsmears
Report Negative Mailings and Phone Calls
The McCain campaign has orchestrated a vicious robocall and direct mail smear campaign against Barack.
Fight the Smears is an online resource to help correct the record. More frequently now, Fight the Smears addresses the baseless accusations from John McCains 100% negative campaign.
You can help fight back by reporting one or more of the smears they are spreading.
Report smear literature — Create a digital copy
There are three ways to create a copy. Once the copy is created, upload it using the form to the right.
1.
If you have a computer scanner, you can scan the mail piece to create a digital copy on your computer. Then upload the file using the form to the right.
2.
Go to a nearby print shop to scan the mailing. They should be able to email you the digital versions of the mailings or put them on a CD or USB drive.
The UPS Store, FedEx, or any major office supplies store should be able to create a digital copy.
3.
Take a picture with a digital camera.
Set your camera to its highest quality setting and take the photo in good lighting — preferably outside in the daytime or with a flash.
Notify the campaign of “Robocall” smears
1.
If you can create a recording of the automated phone call on your computer in .mp3 format, you can upload it directly using the form to the right.
2.
If you have a recording of the negative phone call (on an answering machine or other device), you can report the call over the phone. Call 312-506-8685 and then replay the attack message into the receiver of the phone.
Before you play the message into the phone, be sure to clearly state your name, location and phone number so that the campaign can reach you with any questions.

I really have to wonder what they are up to on this one.
I got the same call but the callwer ID Number was 804-318-5001. More than one Joe the Plumber?
Sorry, you’re right, I don’t know how I made that typo, it was (804) 318 5001.
“robo-call from “Campaign for Change” (give them a call at 804-318-5001, just be sure to leave a message) that featured an elderly woman reading from a very wordy script about how this was all just a devious attempt to deflect attention from the failed Bush policies, blah, blah, blah”
Obama wants us all to bend over so he can do a plumbing job, so to speak.
