Why didn't Powell endorse Kerry in 2004? (Yes, a vanity)

Kerry was much closer to Powell on many issues than Obama is. Especially national security. Kerry was in Vietnam like Kerry was. Obama/Biden have never served a day in the military in their entire lives. Kerry at least wanted to finish the job in Iraq. Obama wants to surrender.
Now why did Powell NOT endorse Kerry but DOES endorse Obama?
Oh wait...oh yeah, that's right.

“Now why did Powell NOT endorse Kerry but DOES endorse Obama?”
Kerry missed a few days at the “tanning salon”. Had he showed up, Powell would have endorsed him as well.

VOA doesn't even want to think about that.
As it would lead one to think that a retired general of The US
Army that my father served in...
might just be a racist.
And in love with a Marxist, not just a Socialist Anti-American
like Kerry.
At this point, you salute the uniform. NOT the person it's draped upon.

Period...

Because Kerry wasn’t a “transformational figure.” In other words, because Kerry wasn’t black.

When one of the moderators asked Powell whether this vote was personal to him since he was the first African-American Secretary of State, his answer sparked wild applause. “I’m an American first and foremost,” he said.
He said he will look at who has the best economic policies, who inspires the most confidence in the country and around the world, and who will keep America safe.
This kind of judgement shows us why he was such a lousy first African-American Secretary of State.

At first I was truly angry! But now the more I think about it the more I’m beginning to think this ENDORSEMENT is going to be a NEGATIVE affect for the EMPEROR!! Powell only confirmed to the nation what we were scared to say in public...this election is about RACE!! I think this will only enrage those who were sitting on the face..this CONFRIM what the mediaPUKES unwilling have being spewing for 2 years...thing is they fell into their own trap...IT’S ABOUT RACISM and bigotry and the american folk are getting fed up!! IT’S RIGHT IN FRONT OF US FOLKS!! BLACKS DON’T LIKE WHITES or HISPANICS, they’re racists!!

My guess is the general perception out here in flyover country will be that Powell endorsed Obama because he’s black.
I can see that a Powell endorsement might have some impact among non-jaded white suburbanites, for Powell is every such white person’s favorite black guy.
Still, at the end of the day, I think the juice from Powell’s star is gone. Mostly, because the Angry Left ran him down on Iraq. He’s no longer the most popular figure in American politics as he was during the mid-90s. He’s a has been and his participation in the Bush administration has diminished him, at least in the mainstream media. Out in the country, time has passed Colin by already.

Number one he is reacting to polls and believes ‘his one’ is going to win, he has always been a calculating politician.
Number two, and this goes for most black politicians dim or republican, when they look in the mirror first thing in the morning, they are always reminded of the past history and where their true alliance should be.

He was already planning on retiring but I think he Kerry disgusts him for his lies after the war. I am more than disappointed by this move on Powell's part, he served an entire career without even knowing why. That is truly the saddest part, his service was for nothing more than himself and so in the end he is diminished as a leader of men becoming just another tool in the box of tyranny. Make no mistake, Obama means the return of tyranny to our shores and Colin Powell is helping to bring it along.

Here is something that no-one in the media is going to point out:
When we went into Iraq, Rumsfeld and Cheney supported a plan which amounted to “go in, remove Sadam, then leave.” It was Powell who insisted that we needed to stay in Iraq to rebuild the country. Now the final decision belonged to President Bush and I support it. But Rumsfeld and Cheney have been demonized while Powell has gotten a free ride from the press despite the fact that almost all of our casualties have resulted from Powell’s plan.
And now he sells out his own convictions for race.

Number one he is reacting to polls and believes his one is going to win, he has always been a calculating politician. The only thing Powell has left to sell is "access", his ability to call up somebody in government and make a pitch on behalf of somebody with the money to hire him. I guess he figures his "access" will be worth more if he makes this move.

You're just making me more sad over Gen. Powell's self-exposure of
his inner weasel.
I admit that I found his down-time hobby of getting his hands
dirty working on cars (albeit Volvos) somewhat endearing.
I guess I gave him credit for at least not working on Saabs,
Trabants or Ladas!!!
(A very little bit of humor to alleviate the pain over Powell's
perfidious approach to another person who was a "brother-in-arms"...
in order to support a Marxist Lawyer/community organizer.)
