Please read: O'Bama signs have subliminal message
October 20, 2008 | self

I would like to get my observation out to as many folks as possible in the hopes of countering the subliminal message of the O'Bama signs.

I read an article a few days ago on FR about O'Bama's use of hypnotic suggestion in his speeches. Apparently he holds his fingers the same way someone holds a pencil to emphasize his points. This is supposed to anchor O'Bama in someone's mind when they see fingers held that way. When you are standing over your ballot getting ready to vote, you will see your fingers the same way O'Bama holds his fingers when speaking to you and this sight will trigger O'Bama to come to your mind. I was a bit skeptical. (http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2109105/posts)

I then noticed that O'Bama's signs when looked at from a distance, actually have a filled in circle next to his name. Each sign is establishing a visual picture of a filled in circle with pencil like shading. When you stand over your ballot, and see O'Bama's name with a circle next to it, the visual impressions of the signs will suggest to fill in the circle next to the name. In fact the red color in the circle of the sign is designed to attract the most attention to that part of the message, which in this case is the circle.

We have a candidate that is using hypnotic suggestion on a mass basis. On reflection, I'm not sure we can rely on typical models of turnout or the Bradley effect.

That’s hysterical. Unfortunately it makes you look that way, too.

Let me add something to this. Just about everyone here will not be affected by this suggestion. However, millions of folks walk into the ballot box with no idea who they will vote for until they get there.

When they are standing there these are the ones which will be affected. This is not going to turn freepers in zombies but it can affect zombies who are undecided until the moment they enter the ballot box.

Actually, I would LIKE to be able to blame some sort of mind trick on Obama's popularity. Unfortunately, if and Obama victory occurs, it will be because old fashion greed and stupidity....

Many people are supporting Obama for the simple reason that they are to stupid to think for themselves or do any research. Their entire thought process consists of George W Bush = BAD , John McCain = George W. Bush, Therefore, John McCain = BAD. The rest of Obama voter are voting out of greed - one of Obamas hundreds of government handouts will benefit them, or the just wanna see someone sock it to "Wealthy" the race neutral version of socking it to "Whitey".

You knew who you wanted to vote for and this suggestion stuff won’t work on you. However, an undecided who begins to reflect at that moment one last time will be affected.

It does look like part of a ballot.
Coincidence?
Not a chance.

Filling in circles is only one of many options for ballotting around the country. I’ve used some ballots where you color in an arrow to your choice of vote. I’ve had the kind where you punch with a little stylus. I’ve had touch-screen. I’ve had flip-a-toggle-switch. AND, in some municipal and bond-issue elections, I’ve had fill-in-a-circle.

Was this on the DU board or the Daily Kos or even Huffington Post?

If not, you can bet your bottom dollar the WaPo, LA Times or media of that ilk will pick this up Ray, because this is the kind of looney tune stuff they like to associate conservative forums with.

I am looking at ONE FINGER Ray.

Bet you can’t guess which one.

What I think is the crap taught in public schools has a bigger impact on people’s voting trends, upon reaching adulthood, than any psychological marketing program.

The use of art, symbols and advertising techniques (marketing) in political propaganda was my main focus as an Art Historian in college.

If the people are going to his rallies, they’re already going to vote for him. He doesn’t need hypnosis to sway them.
This hypnosis stuff doesn’t seem to be working on the rest of us, so fahgettaboudit.

I think you are on to something.

Subliminal techniques are persuasive with weak minded individuals who are not good at thinking for themselves. Those who think not, should ask themselves why smart well run companies pay millions to tv stations to reach weak minded masses with subliminal laden commercials.

When you think about it, any campaign that did not use subliminals would be derelict.

Aren’t the ranks of 0bama’s supporters filled with the weak minded? I strongly suspect your hypothsis is correct.

I don’t think the American people can understand such manipulation even if it were explained to them.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

People do love to believe they are independent minded and invulnerable to such tactics. I know two in particular who like to say they are Independents but they can see nothing positive about McCain/Palin and if they hear anything negative about Obama/Biden they immediately go into extreme defensive mode. There really does seem to be something strange going on here, I thought the same thing with Bill Clinton but this is even worse. At least Clinton had a record of some sort as a governor but Obama has no resume worthy of mention at all. Clinton smiled a lot more and had some degree of humor, Obama looks angry much of the time and has zero sense of humor. I could understand that someone might think they would enjoy having a beer with Clinton but why would anyone think they want to spend two minutes with Barack Obama? I just cannot see it, what am I missing?
