Political 'Art' given free reign in city

An art piece that combines the face of President Lincoln with the face of Sen. Barack Obama can remain on the walls of local businesses.

The piece, called "Abraham Obama," has been displayed in several places across Colorado Springs but was recently questioned by the city's revocable permits department.

After a short investigation, the department decided that "Abraham Obama" is art and not a political endorsement, which would have violated city sign ordinances.

"It was decided that it was a mural," said Sue Matz, revocable permits coordinator for Colorado Springs. She said that she discussed the matter with her supervisor and they came to the decision together.

Had the piece been deemed a political endorsement, businesses displaying it would have had to abide by city sign restrictions. Those in violation would have had to apply for a permit or take the piece down.

We are truly living in Bizarro World!!! Tell me that a picture of John McCain and George Washington together on a mural would just be considered art? This is the biggest load of horse hockey I have ever heard of!!

You know what it sounds like? It sounds like all the communist countries with their cult of personality, their great leader plastered everywhere! I tell you, this is more than an election. It may be the last chance for retaining our freedoms!

There was a picture of McCain’s image mixed with Hitler’s called “Adolph McCain” next to it so they figured there was balance.

So, how about we put Obama's face and ears on Goya's man-eating monster depicting Napoleon's revolutionary invasion of Spain, and put them up all around the city, too? It's art, isn't it?

We could even entitle this painting “Viva la Revolucion! Vote for Obama, three-time Killer of Infants Born Alive!”

The original Photo, was titled "Ibrahim Obama" denoting his Islamic upbringing, but of course the MSM cleaned it up and I'm sure there will be an account of how he split rails in Kenya and studied for his law degree by candlelight...Pathetic.

I'm disgusted by the ignorance of the people in the US, but more so by the MSM, his cheerleaders.

Wonder what they would have said if it had been a mural of Obama as Alfred E. Newman.
