Republicans are slashing their television advertising at Colorado's three biggest television stations, a troubling sign for presidential nominee John McCain.

McCain is headed to Colorado Friday, but public records provided by three Denver stations show the GOP this week cut their ad spending for McCain by 46%.

Thanks! Excellent answer. I understand now (I know, I’m sloooow) and that does seem like a very positive scenario. Thank God!!

I meant McCain was pulling ad sales in CO and FL according to the graph at that link.

Thanks again! I appreciate your explanation!

Hey Jay, go check out my posts 44 and 48. Very interesting stuff pointing toward major Obama/Biden problems.

I live in Parker CO and I have seen more OB signs than there were Kerry signs 4 years ago and Parker is or was always more conservative than Denver.

There are still a lot of conservatives here and we are still fighting the good fight

Well, I'll be darned! You actually got something right! :-D My apologies.

I admit, I read it as no decrease and 104 this week, but it was 104 the week before and no spending this week (as identified by the source). you are indeed correct.

And the rest of the data is still overwhelmingly positive for the GOP and negative for the Dems (and you).

I think tv advertising is over-rated.

Palin was just in the state and McCain has 2 rallies there tomorrow. Rallies create free air time.

They obviously have not given up the state.

"Everyone, may I have your attention please? [clearing throat] Thank you. According to that link there are exactly three states where both campaigns are increasing ad expenditures. Care to guess what they are? New Hampshire Maine Iowa Talk amongst yourselves. I'll be busy celebrating a McCain/Palin victory. This news is so good I need a cigarette, and I don't even smoke!

I got to do a sit-down get-together with a GOP pollster a few years back at a dinner. We discused all sorts of things about polls and he told me that on Presidential Contests it matters most what the Poll "Trends" are.

He also told me to watch which States the candidates spend there time in when it gets close to election day. He said if you See A Republican Candidate spending lots of time in California or some other Liberal state get ready to call him Mr. President. Same goes for a Democrat spending lots of time in Texas or some other traditionally Conservative/Republican state.

If I remember correctly, didn’t Kerry win Colorado but Bush won Colorado over Gore?

Just curious, please correct me if I am wrong

Correction to=two. Anyone who believes we are pulling out of CO has their head square up their tails. This is just BS by the Media. Their whole plan this year is to discourage us from voting by making us think it is all over. It’s not.Bozo is actually behind in internal polls. It is apparent in the hype and renewed attacks on Palin and on McCain’s age.

Obama alone is outspending McCain and the RNC three to one and you view that as overwhelmingly positive? I admire your optimism but I have to question your sanity.

No. In CO Bush beat Gore by 9 points, and he beat Kerry by 5 points.

You've been questioning my sanity and optimism every step of the way. And I've been questioning your supposed desire to see McCain/Palin win.

Just because you view everything in a negative fashion doesn't mean it's negative.

Please explain to me, oh "realistic" one, exactly why Obama is cutting spending in all supposedly vulnerable red states WHILE simultaneously increasing spending in supposedly safe blue states? Don't we have poll after poll telling us how big Obama's lead is? Doesn't he have all the money?

Here’s a link from an NRA article from Oct. 8th. However, I just received an email where they were requesting more funds for more ads in battleground states.

There was another thread talking about how good of a job the NRA does at targeting their audience, demograhics, etc. More bang for your buck with the NRA.

I have thought all along that this election will swing on the hard hat wearing, union card carrying, pickup truck driving, gun toting and Bible carrying rural democrat. I think the NRA appeals to their values directly.

I do seem to recall that Kerry claimed some kind of connection to Colorado, like he used to live there or something.

You've been questioning my sanity and optimism every step of the way.

With good reason, at least in the sanity part. IMHO, of course.

Just because you view everything in a negative fashion doesn't mean it's negative.

Just because you view everythign in a positive fashion doesn't mean it's positive. Good or bad, there is such a thing as being realistic.

Please explain to me, oh "realistic" one, exactly why Obama is cutting spending in all supposedly vulnerable red states WHILE simultaneously increasing spending in supposedly safe blue states?

Well let's see, Obama dropped Florida spending 4%, and is still outspending McCain and the RNC by 3:1. He dropped spending in Missouri by 3% and is still outspending McCain and the RNC almost 2:1. Colorado he's dropped spending almost 10%, as did McCain, and is still outspending him 3:2. Virginia he's outspending McCain 4:1. In the two blue states, Iowa and New Hampshire, Obama's increase totals about $150,000 out of a $31 million ad buy, less than half a percent. That's less than McCain's increas in North Carolina alone, supposedly a solid Red state in your eyes. And as to why Obama's cutting his buys at all? Look at the cable total, up 300%. Obama is spending 90 times what the GOP is spending on Cable, and targeting audiences with it. So what is positive in all that?

I stand corrected, then, with respect to the totals available to the parties.

However, the McCain campaign is limited to $84 million.

The Obama campaign has raised a billion of more.

The Donkeys have WAY MORE money than the Republicans.

Way more.

I am predicting white flight to McCain!
