Sarah Palin dragging down Republican ticket: polls

Embarrassing revelations about her costly campaign wardrobe and bloopers about the vice president's job description are raising fresh fears that Sarah Palin is dragging down the Republican ticket.

New polls showed Wednesday that seven weeks after John McCain plucked the Alaska governor from political obscurity to be his running mate in the November 4 elections, Palin is seen as an increasing liability for Republicans.

The Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll found that Americans are less and less convinced she is worthy to serve as the country's number-two leader.

"Her numbers have plummeted in our poll ... what's more 55 percent think she's unqualified to serve as president if the need arises, which is a troublesome number given McCain's age," said NBC political director Chuck Todd.

The poll also puts the 72-year-old McCain 10 points behind his Democratic rival Barack Obama, and says that 47 percent of those surveyed viewed Palin negatively.

It confirmed the findings of an ABC/Washington Post poll released earlier this month which found that six in 10 voters saw Palin, 44, as lacking the experience to be an effective president.

"A third are now less likely to vote for McCain because of her," the Post added.

After being found guilty of abusing her power as governor in the so-called "troopergate" scandal over the firing of her ex-brother-in-law, Palin now faces a second probe over whether she violated ethics rules in the affair.

A spokesman said Palin, the first woman to be picked to serve on a Republican ticket, had requested this subsequent inquiry, branding the first probe a "political witch-hunt."

Then on Tuesday the Politico website

If all they can do at this late stage is talk about her wardrobe as the reason McCain is doomed then I think this is a lot closer than we all know. This tact makes it plainly obvious the Democrats are scared s**tless! Especially of her!!

Maybe she could one-up everyone and say she’ll put all of the clothing they bought here on EBay after the campaign and then donate all the proceeds to a charity!!

She’s attracting the biggest crowds of ANYONE on the campaign trail, and gets the highest ratings on whatever telecast she appears on.

....Sure she is a drag on the ticket.

This article, and others like it are delusional.

If it wasn’t for Sarah, the polls would be showing 0-70 M-20, 10 undecided.

“She’s having a huge impact”

AMEN, she is!!! If she was “dragging down the Republican ticket,” as the liberals claim, why is she attracting massive crowds to her rallies?

She’s going to be in Springfield, MO, tomorrow and I tried to get a ticket, but they ran out very quickly. People started lining up at the GOP HQ at 6:30 AM, even though they didn’t open until 9! Luckily, they moved it to a larger venue and there will be a place for those of us who didn’t get tickets.

SARAH PALIN ROCKS!!!!!!!! The liberals are desperate liars! Let’s just tune them out!

SARAH!!!!!! SARAH!!!!!!! SARAH!!!!!!

McCain-Palin’08!!!!

This HAS to be true — haven’t you seen how the oodles of people at her rallies are practically foaming at the mouth, screaming at the top of their lungs, and waiving their arms at her at her rallies when she tries to speak! I’ve never seen such **angry** people!

raising fresh fears that Sarah Palin is dragging down the Republican ticket
It's not that she actually is, there are merely 'fears' raised by unnamed sources who may or may not even be Republicans.
With these 'fears' raised by someone somewhere, the media suddenly has a 'story' to report.
And there you have the anatomy of a MSM news report.

Like I said, the MSM has already coronated Obama, so their motive is pretty clear here. They know that they have no answer to Sarah Palin, so even if McCain loses, they have to bury Palin so hard that she ceases to be a viable candidate in the future. It won’t work. They hated George Bush a lot more than they hate her. And on the surface, he a far more flawed candidate. But he won twice in spite of them. And Palin won’t be learning on the job anymore in four years.
