Rep. Mahoney's wife wants divorce (Voters do too, Republican challenger now leads 55-to-29)

Six days after sitting silently at Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney's side as he acknowledged causing ''pain'' in their marriage, Terry Mahoney filed for divorce Monday.

She filed a petition in Palm Beach County Court seeking the dissolution of their 23-year marriage, possession of their Palm Beach Gardens home and ''a full accounting of all funds spent or dissipated by the husband within the last two years'' -- the period since Mahoney was elected to Congress on a ''faith, family and personal responsibility'' platform in the aftermath of the Mark Foley sex scandal.

Neither Mahoney nor his wife could be reached Monday for comment.

ABC News first reported Oct. 13 that Mahoney had had an affair with a former staffer, Patricia Allen, whom he fired this year and later agreed to pay $121,903 to stop her from filing a lawsuit.

The next day, Mahoney and his wife made a two-minute appearance before reporters. The congressman did not directly address the affair, but acknowledged causing ''pain,'' declared it a ''private matter'' and vowed to press on with his reelection bid.

Three days after that, Mahoney gave a series of interviews in which he acknowledged ''multiple affairs.'' Asked to define what ''multiple'' meant, Mahoney would say only, ``More than one.''

Mahoney admitted he had an affair with a high-ranking Martin County government official whom he met last year when she and other county officials sought his help in obtaining a $3.4 million reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

... Private Republican and Democratic polls showed Mahoney with a comfortable lead over Republican challenger Tom Rooney early this month. But a post-scandal poll by the Rooney campaign last week showed the Republican with a 55-to-29 percent lead over Mahoney.

Looks like a pick up folks. The conservative media needs to write stories about the Democrat coverup and scream to high heaven about this. Tie Pelosi and the Dem leadership to this.

“Faith, family, and personal responsibility.”

Weasel words.

The MSM already said this is a non-story. No pics of the women. Nothing.

Meanwhile, the MSM is hot on Gov. Palin’s children’s friends.

I will never understand why these wives go to these news conferences with their cheating husbands. I would have been at home burning all his stuff after I hurt him physically.

Well, this is a bit of good news, putting the Mark Foley scandal to bed and with some Providence, Col Russel will unseat Jack “Racist Rednecks/Haditha Marines” Murtha

Go figure - he’s uglier than a mud fence. Now he’s gonna be on the streets - having thrown everything away for a few thrills.

Democrats always say “personal matter”.

I would like for someone to just tell them once that it’s not a personal matter anymore when the people vote you into the office. Then it’s the publics matter.

The bastard had put his wife into a period of high confusion. She must have been torn (and deeply upset over) the end of a 23 year lifestyle, no matter how horrible, or ending the humiliation.

I would also suggest, silly me, that all the pubs get out of the tanning booths, risk chips to their polished nails and be strong that a head hair would deviate from its appointed place. They should be on all the pundit shows, cable at least, railing about the horror that was Tom Foley, how that fellow only sent suggestive emails to a congressional page WHO WAS, not that the MSM ever clarified this, OF LEGAL AGE.

The pubs got to grow a pair and get out there. Every damn time something like this happens we get all this rah, rah, rah....get out the info, put Rush on the case.

Hey, those Lords in America’s House of Lords, they get plenty of money, prestige and perks. How about THEY do something oncit in a while?

Just throwing it out there. Because I have not seen one pub anywhere pointedly bringing this to the attention of the American populace.

I had to read to the very last line of the article until the Miami Herald would disclose the name of the “Republican challenger” .....................

It is TOM ROONEY with a nearly 2:1 lead!!!

Say hello to new Republican Congressman Tom Rooney.

What does his wife look like? Inquiring minds wish to know. She’ll be back on the market soon.
