One of the more tiring duelling refrains of the presidential campaign is that: 1) John McCain was not born in the United States, and cannot, under the Constitution, serve as president, and, 2) Barack Obama says he was born in Hawaii, but cannot show a birth certificate. As tired as the line of reasoning on both fronts may be, it keeps showing up in the reader-comments on postings here in the Swamp. So we're here this morning, a little more than a week from the election of the 44th presient of the United States, to assure readers that both of the candidates for president of the leading parties are Americans. Amazing, but true, the candidates are Americans. McCain was born to American parents, his father serving as a submariner in the U.S. Navy at the Coco Solo base in the Panama Canal Zone when and where young John Sidney McCain III was born. Barack Hussein Obama II -- and yes, he actually has joked that he got his middle name from people who never thought he'd be running for president -- was born in Hawaii, in 1961, and has a birth certificate to show for it. So now, go vote early. For an American. And knock of the citizenship stuff..

It’s not a real argument, because McCain was born in the Canal Zone, a US territory at the time. On top of that, a US military or diplomatic installation (including a ship) is part of the United States. This has already been resolved.
If Obama didn’t have anything to worry about, he’d have shown his birth certificate.
That said, there’s not enough time or enough will to pursue this, and people who are hoping we are going to avoid this disaster on a technicality are, unfortunately, wasting their time. Barry, or whatever he’s calling himself at the moment, is probably not eligible to the President of the United States. But that doesn’t matter to the right people.
If he has it "to show," why hasn't he shown it? Who's the dummy-on-purpose at The Swamp?
He only released a one page statement from a Dr for his medical records. That’s nothing...
Thank you for clearing this up for me. I was worried that Obama just might not be eligible to run for the presidency since he won't turn over ANY birth certificate to that Pennsylvania judge. But since you have personally assured me of his citizenship (using the now discredited Photoshopped document), I now have no worries. /sarcasm

This is not the original birth document. However, the green cert may be admissible in court as proof of place of birth. We'll never see the original.

Obviously the author is not familiar with Hi birth certificates or the professional who have stated it is a fraud.
The five pointed red star was a symbol of Communism. I knew many people in NY and SF in the 1960s and 70s and even early 80s who wore this five pointed red star (it went with singing “The East is Red,” the Communist Chinese anthem). Sometimes they wore their Che t-shirts with it, sometimes not.
I didn’t realize Ayers was still wearing one. Barry probably has one tattooed on his butt. Or maybe lower back.
This supports my contention that we are being attacked, 40 years later, by a blast from the past, the 1960s radicals who were foolishly forgiven of their crimes and have used the time to infiltrate and build their forces.
Remember, Chavez tried to take over the government of VZ and was imprisoned but unfortunately not executed; when he emerged again (and I can’t remember why he was released), he managed to take over VZ the second time around.
J.D. Hayworth addressed that question on his show this week. Apparently, congress-critters don't have to show a valid birth certificate to get a passport.

The BC may not be a fake. Hawaii will issue a BC to a child born to an American parent in a foreign country. I don’t know why Obama’s relatives would fabricate a claim to have been in the hospital when he was born in Kenya.
