HOW MCCAIN COULD PULL OFF A FINAL WEEK UPSET
What does McCain have to do to pull off a similar shift this time?
1. Use the stock market crash to highlight the tax issue. With the Dow Jones dropping each day by hundreds of points, this election is being held against a backdrop of economic fear unlike any since the Depression. Almost every reputable economist agrees that it would be catastrophic to add to the economy's woes by raising the capital gains tax. But Obama is on record as favoring an increase from 15% to 20% and suggested during the primaries that he would consider hitting 28%.
2. Bring back Rev. Jeremiah Wright. For reasons that are beyond me, John McCain has vowed not to make an issue out of Rev. Wright's extreme anti-American statements. But that should not stop independent expenditure and 527 groups from raising the issue.
3. Warn voters of impending socialism in America. The recent bailout legislation puts the United States government inside the ownership, management and direction of many of our major companies and financial institutions.

All McCain has to do is show exerpts of this video saying he will abolish missle defense, cut military, and no space weapons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcqhoiK8-Ww
Who do you want at the helm during a crises? Someone who has many years in service for his country! or someone who voted present 96 times never ran anything except a campaign and has 3 years as a U.S. Senator of which he has been campaigning 2 of those years.
Missile defense should have been a debate question of course.
Nobody is talking about this important issue.
One of the many reason McCain will lose. Heck, McCain has even ruled out using the "H" word (Hussein).
Not to worry, though. AFTER THE ELECTION--the MSM will once again laud McCain for his civil and genltemanly campaign--as President B. Hussein Obama takes the oath of office.
Americans are too stupid to even remotely understand the issue of capital gains taxes on the economy. This one would just be pounded right back up McCain's butt as "tax breaks for the rich", and the "MSM" would lead the charge.
Warn voters of impending socialism in America.
Americans are too stupid to understand the difference between capitalism and socialism, and half the Republican Party is socialists anyway (witness "compassionate conservatism", "New Tone", Medicare drug plan that was passed with the assistance of Republicans, and all the outrageous spending that was done over the six years that Bush was President).
All McCain has to do to win is do the exact opposite of anything Dick Morris recommends.
Hannity pounded the Wright issue into the ground during the primary thereby immunizing B.O. from the issue .
Bringing it back at this point in the game would reek of desperation and would not help .
Wouldn’t that be something if all the news stations went with Obama like they did with Dewey, and that McCain won just as Truman did!
What a headliner!
At this point, I agree with you. McCain should have been pounding it a few months ago—BEFORE Hussein became an acceptable candidate to many middle-of-the-roaders. At this point, even if he wanted to bring it up (which he won’t) it’s a meaningless proposition.
He should run such an ad in every state that has a lot of missile defense jobs... like California.
Did you read the article?
Comparing ? That’s not Morris ...
You really think any presidential candidate can be immunized from a 20 year relationship with a racist, America hating loon who freaks out on video on a regular basis?
It would be easier to immunize oneself from a tie to John Wayne Gacy than from 20 years of palling around with Jeremiah Wright.
The thing is...I think that we might have an early election night. If VA and PA go to McCain, the election is over.
That’s not Dick Morris, that’s Gordon Brown.

Looks like Reuters had the wrong picture.
They have since removed it.
The incredible adventures of the young Barak in Kenya, in which he campaigned all over that country, right along side Cousin Raile Odinga, for the presidency of Kenya, gave him $1million, ... only to have Odinga lose, then start a wave of ethnic cleansing against the Kikuyu in areas which voted against him,
And this bothers no one on the RNC, or isn't worthy of mention by John (Call me Dole) McCain? How can a guy who wasn't afraid of NVA AAA, is afraid of an AAA --Affirmative Action Clymer-- like the preposterous Obama?
Odinga? PASS. John, WTF? Over.
VWRC Rumors? No. On film and reported by the BBC. On youtube. On anybody's mind in the USA? Doubt it.
I would absolutely love to see the faces at MSNBC (Olberman, Matthews, Mitchell) and the other Networks having to declare a McCain/Palin victory...
Does anyone have that pic of Tom Daschle looking so demoralized after the 2002 mid-term elections???
So is McCain. Did you see him this morning promoting his mortgage bailout plan? He wants the government to bailout irresponsible home owners using the tax dollars of home owners who pay their mortgage on time. No matter how you spin it, that's socialism.
.
ACORN = OBAMA
OBAMA = ACORN
.
STOCKS = SOROS
SOROS = STOCKS
.
Yes, coupling this with Biden’s remarks about an imminent testing of Obama’s mettle in the first six months of his presidency. Weak military all but guarantees a test. And also all but guarantees lost American lives on American soil...but hey, we’ll get the troops home.
I think you're right.
Better to emphasize that Obama wants to raise the overall tax burden, and that it won't help the offshoring and jobs-drain problem if The One jacks up payroll taxes as promised.
Against a backdrop of accelerating layoff announcements, that one ought to get people's attention and start focusing them on the practical consequences of Europeanizing employment costs at the worst possible moment.
I'm sorry, and I don't want to sound discouraging, but the moment for that initiative passed about six months ago. That is an education campaign, the kind of thing the 527's should have been doing retroactively to last spring, if they had any money (and GOP money has been largely absent this cycle, already sent ahead to tax-haven banks before the Wrath of the Dems arrives).
I would agree, to a point. It’s time to push for the independent, undecided voter. And I disagree with Morris’ point about Jeremiah Wright. Or anything else that takes more than 30 seconds to explain.
See my incredibly well-reasoned post #27 in this thread about what to do in this final week: (LOL)

Like DaveTesla? Think before you post.
Don't like it?
TOUGH
I’d certainly like to see some discussion of the Democrat plan to abolish tax breaks for 401K contributions.
Given the 24 hour news cycle and how easily the majority of Americans get bored , yes I do .
Any attempt to bring up Wright at this point will look like desperation which would convey that McCain knew he was losing .
Had Hannity not run this issue into the ground during the primaries , it would have been the perfect October surprise . Thank Hannity for this .
Yeah, he really deserves to be given a lot of crap for trying to warn Americans that a bizarre racist creep was headed for the White House. How dare he!
It should have been saved for two weeks ago , but no , he did Hillary’s bidding for Murdoch and now the issue is gone .
If Hannity was not doing Murdoch’s bidding on behalf of Hillary , than Hannity did not think strategically for the future with such a potent issue .
Do you really think at this point that the Wright issue could be used ? Please ....
Shouldn't`t this 527 group be given more light here, they are raising money to air Rev Wright spots in swing states. I have already donated, supposedly they have reached the 1 million dollar mark.
Do you think the Wright issue should be used this week ? Do you think it will be effective if used and why ?
