Gun bans don't prevent murder
National Post ^ | October 27 2008 | Lorne Gunter

There is no one more persistent than a liberal with a bad idea. He knows his intellectual and moral superiority make him infallible, so he easily convinces himself there is nothing wrong with his idea; it is the world that is mistaken Even the facts cannot be the facts when they disagree with his idea. So he forges ahead against all reason, attempting to remake the world until it accepts he was correct all along.

Which brings me to the subject of gun bans. As useless as bans have proven, liberal politicians will raise the subject over and over. Thankfully new, unconnected reports from Statistics Canada and Chicago once again point out the futility of banning guns as a way of lowering crime.

This week, Chicago took over as murder capital of the United States. There are several cities that have higher murder rates per 100,000 population, but no city with more total murders.

I wish people like the writer of this article weren’t so stupid and always playing the very game liberals want to play concerning our right to keep and bear arms and the left’s attempts to take away those rights.

The reason they want or firearms is so when they takeover we can’t fight back. Everything thing else about this issue is an attempt bt the left to divert attention as to the real why.

And people like this writter play right along with them which is a losing issue.

Here in Arizona about 50% of the population is legally packing at any given time. And we have a lot less lower violent crime rate as a result. I favor a Smith and Wesson.

I have faith that it will be a close World Cup series between Chicago and DC if The One loses and the populations celebrate the loss in normal style. Wild Cards might be Detroit and LA.

Will the casualty rates count as normal, statistically, or outside the bell curve?

This should be some Grand Cosmic Joke, but why isn't anyone laughing?

Arizona has the 13th-highest violent crime rate in the country. Better than some gun-grabbing states (such as California), but worse than others (such as New York and Connecticut). 7 out of the top ten states with the highest violent crime rates are "Red States"- with South Carolina winning the dubious honor of coming in as the most dangerous state (not counting DC). A lot of things go into the violent crime rate, I guess.

Damn right gun bans do nothing to stop murder.

I have a deep suspicion that gun bans aren’t directed towards criminals but instead at controlling the U.S. population. After all, you can’t do anything about murder and rape but an unarmed populace is more likely to go along with the program.

Yep. Gun control isn't about guns, it's about control
