Not here to spread rumors, but isn’t this Detroit Mayor possibly tied to the murder of two women who may have agreed to testify against him? Weren’t they both shot with .41 mag bullets?

Yes, the entire murder case seems to have been swept under the rug.

Guess it’s the Ayers Doctrine, alive and well in Detroit too.

Yes...but thanks to a lack of investigative journalists, and the Attorney General of Michigan Mike Cox, who is a REPUBLICAN...nothing will come of this.

By the way...I will NOT be voting for Cox next week.

Maybe Mike Cox literally fears for his life...

The former Mayor of Detroit was a straight up street thug and he surrounded himself with real killers. Few, or maybe no, investigative reporters have the “stuff” to go after that.

Well, to be fair, the City of Detroit has it coming. They have allowed the whole defining deviancy down to be carried out to its logical conclusion.

Isn’t there something called “Hell Night” in Detroit where entire city blocks are burned by arsons?

Vote for McCain/Palin ‘08 and again for Palin ‘12.

That’s right. The .40 cal bullet - which, not incidentally, is the service caliber for the Detroit police. It may have been a police detective who did the two murders.

I mean really, what are the odds of two separate women being killed by the same caliber in two very different geographic locations. One of the women was shot to death in Florida. Not sure where the other one was shot.

Hey, at least we got the Mayor some jail time for pushing someone off his porch.

Nonetheless, the City of Detroit will just elect another mayor-thug - it’s a democratic stronghold and there just ain’t no chaning that.

A combination of unions and the democratic party really did it’s number on Detroit.

Glad I don’t live there. I live in the idyllic “shire” like city of St. Louis, MO.

Yes...it’s called “Devil’s Night” and it has a long tradition in Detroit...when I was growing up there...I am long gone now...kids would go out the night before Halloween and soap car windows. That was about the extent of it.

In the sixties (naturally) it began to turn violent. Young hoods would torch empty buildings...and by that time, there were lots. By the eighties, most of the neighborhoods surrounding downtown were gone. I MEAN GONE.

If you spoke up against this and suggested the police lock these thugs up...Mayor Coleman Young called you a racist.

It’s been downhill from then on. Last month, the average selling price for a used home in Detroit was $9,200. These were home that were going for 85-200k two years ago.

I got my mother out in 2000, after she was mugged. The Detroit police TOLD ME TO MORE HER, she could not be protected.

Is it not amazing that the liberal media WILL NOT COVER the decline of this once great city???

....well, considering the media...maybe not.

120 days for a felony conviction?

So much for justice.

He shouldn't be seeing the outside of a jail cell for many years, not just 6 months.

His blatantly illegal actions cost the city of Detroit many millions of dollars and he gets a slap on the wrist...

Well at least he won't be eligible for early release... they really showed him.

He also gets 5 years probation during which he can't run for elected office.

Maybe his wife will divorce him and at least he'll pay some price for his actions, however there seems to be evidence that she deserves a long time behind bars as well, so I don't see any justice from that either.

Thanks for perpetuating this violent image of the "D".

Anyway, it was called "Devil's Night", (October 30) and IMHO, people with insurance took advantage of the situation in order to collect on their policies.

Anyway, it's all good now. October 30 is officially termed "Angels Night." People patrol their own and other neighborhoods (fancy that) and the fires are way down. There are some fairly strict curfews in effect, too, I think.

Oh, yeah, welcome to FR.

Before the sentencing started Kwame was sitting there with his arm around his wife, laughing and having a good ol time. The perfect couple.

Before the sentencing started Kwame was sitting there with his arm around his wife, laughing and having a good ol time. The perfect couple.

Could be an act. They both had a lot more to lose if the judge tossed out the plea agreement. The judge himself stated that $1 million in restitution did not come close to making restitution for what he had done.

The judge also demanded that Kwame surrender his law license, which wasn't part of the plea agreement. When the defense objected that the judge was changing the agreement, the judge asked if they would rather go to trial. That very quickly put an end to their objections.

The judge also ordered that Kwame not be given time off for good behavior, to which the defense also objected.

The judge obviously felt the plea agreement was a mockery of justice, but wasn't willing to go out on a limb and toss it out.

He made a couple changes to make it nominally harsher, but he wasn't willing to ignore the agreement completely.

However, it was obviously in Kwame's and his wife's best interest to show a united front.

However, now Kwame can't practice law, nor run for office for 5 years, so his future earning potential isn't looking quite so good.

That makes divorce look much more appealing for his wife.
