Gregory to Obama Rep: Isn't It Risky To Raise Taxes?
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Jeff Cohen, founder of FAIR—a self-described progressive media watch group—now a professor of independent media at Ithaca College, invited me to address his class of student bloggers this afternoon. Asked to name some of the fairer MSM journalists, I included David Gregory on my short list. That could understandably come as a surprise to those who remember Gregory from his days as NBC's chief White House correspondent, when he earned the ire of the Bush administration for his often-aggressive style. But I've found that Gregory plays it pretty much down the middle in his new role as host of Race for the White House on MSNBC.

By coincidence, on this evening's show Gregory vindicated my confidence with some tough questioning of an Obama surrogate on the issue of taxes and spending. Gregory went so far as to suggest that Obama's indication that he might not press for immediate implementation of tax increases on higher earners makes McCain's case. Gregory's guest was Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. When Van Hollen suggested Obama might postpone his tax-increase plan, Gregory moved in . . .

This morning on pmsnbc, David Shuster actually took the same approach with someone from the Obama-Biden campaign.

Two in one day! LOL

What?! Next you’ll tell me there are 18-25 million Hillary supporters that are going to vote for McCain/Palin!

Do the presstitutes have access to some of the campaign’s internal poll numbers? That would explain a lot of this, if they think there’s a chance of Senator McCain being president.

Thanks for explaining your reasons, Mark. For a minute there, I'd thought you'd gone off your rocker. :)

I guess I'll give you a pass. You've exposed yourself to brain-damaging videoactivity for a long time. :)

As always, THANKS FOR WATCHING!

I know, it sounds crazy: Gregory, fair. But I watch Race for the White House most nights and have been pleasantly surprised.

This is stunning news. I’d have to seek it out online, because I don’t have cable. I don’t even know if all cable shows have complete online presence. Do you?

It did sound crazy, but now I realize that I only know him from his questioning of Bush, which certainly didn’t seem “tough” to me at all; it seemed out-and-out biased.

That he is obnoxious to all is a great relief.

Semi-Props to Gregory. IMO, I think it’s a case of the real newsroom trying to salvage “some” semblance of journalism for the Peacock Network as compared to the demented screeds of MSNBC.

As for FAIR: By employing its founder, my alma mater guarantees that I’ll steer any contemplated donations to the USO.

Pleastry again

I did and I got in. You give Gregory more credit than I would. We are still on the same side :)

Keep it up, my friend.

“Van Hollen is a ... total Democratic hack scumbag of the first order. total slimebag.”

You are being too kind!

The funny thing is this Dem insistence on taxing the rich .. Van Hollen represents one of the richest Congressional Districts in the country .. and they keep electing him! Oh, we DO deserve the government we get.

He was on Leno tonight, and starting from the monologue it was one long Bush/Palin-bashing party.

David Gregory's wife is the Executive Vice President-General Counsel of Fannie Mae.
Did they really forget to duly inform the NBC listeners of that, yet again? (but of course)

MSNBC would not just start asking tough questions if they didn't think McPalin had a good chance of winning.

Greta will have lots of access to the Palin's when they win. Greta has been very good and fair to Sarah and her family/friends.
