The msm has no problem releasing classified material damaging to US foreign policy (Abu Ghrab comes to mind), so long as it is damaging to President Bush.

But god forbid they out a “confidential source”, that has provided damaging material on BO.

If this is true, this definitely would be a big deal. As has been said, the tape itself normally would only confirm what we already know from the LAT’s own report.

As I wrote in another thread, I don’t find Khalidi to be that much of a radical, compared to lots of other academic types. A lecture he gave a class at Columbia, on youtube, is actually a fairly balanced, albeit leftist, take on the US role in the middle east. So I was concerned that the whole Khalidi-dinner controversy would backfire since he’s no Bill Ayers (or Wright, or Mansour, or Farrakhan, or any number of other Obama associates). I had not heard Khalidi say or write anything I’d consider an extreme or radical point of view. He’s a leftist, but more of an egghead than a nutcase and, compared to profs I had in the field, nothing out of the mainstream (unfortunately).

Now, if it turns out that the truly radical Ayers was at the dinner, yucking it up with Obama and if there were some really anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic stuff going on (may or may not have been coming from Khalidi—reports vary), then that would really strike a serious blow. The lame excuse by LAT will soon be seen for what it is—total BS. They have an obligation to protect confidential sources, not the actual information or documentation they receive. To state otherwise is completely absurd.

Because they refuse to release the tape and because we have reason to believe Ayers was there and they were having a good ‘ole time bashing Jews, then we must assume all that to be true.

It makes no sense. Why would someone give a potentially explosive tape to a news outlet, and insist it not be aired? Why not just keep it to yourself?

I'm worried this is a red herring- purposely done to set McCain's camp up for a fall.

There has been a picture on different threads with the Obamas at a dinner (?). She is in an orange outfit and he is dressed in black. Is this the event that is the subject of the tape. The reason I ask is because in some of the pictures it is expanded to see others (2) at the table.

Well, if it’s that easy to hide a person’s bad stuff is to give it to a newspaper who of course has no legal obligation to suppress information (like an attorney) that would be vital to a national election then I should line up any skeltons in my closet and head on down to the local fish wrap factory and I’m gold!!

sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...our country is about to become unrecognizable.

I just learned about a big march at the LA Times on Thursday demanding the release of the tape.

I’m not familiar with the group, but I’ve got no problem taking the day off and going down to protest.

Conservatives in a big march? I’d have to see it to believe it.

Wow, if someone from the LA Times could “leak” this they would be an instant millionaire.
