This cop is going to prison and his employer is going to be paying a lot of money.
A cop is not permitted to shoot at a fleeing felon unless that felon poses an immediate threat to other individuals. Suspected burglers do not fit that exception. See Garner v. Tennessee, 471 U.S. 1 (1985)

if anyone "comes" at an officer with a weapon and the officer feels he is at imminent risk of SPI/death, he would be justified in using deadly physical force. i don't care who owns the house.
an officer is not obligated to give verbal commands. only if it is possible.

You got your response. Ponder it.The response in question was abusive, yet you are still citing it. Leave this thread, since you ain't getting the message.

So would such justify ME shooting the officer in this case?
I’m investigating, on my property, a possible burglary and a cop, which I don’t recognize as a cop, runs around the corner in the dark and runs into me. I get up and see him drawing down, no verbal order, but I shoot first and he falls dead.

that is why cops were pretty uniforms and shiny badges. here's a question: look at the photo of the kid on the website.
then imagine him bursting through the front door coming at you with a firearm. a family member said he was defending his home. might he have had a gun on him?
and these 'burglars' were interviewed and released which makes me think this was not a burgalry. it was a personal beef of some sort that went bad.
could be wrong. not enough info.

The story doesn't say whether the victim was holding anything that the cop could have been mistaken for a gun or if he felt that the victim was rushing him in the dark. Just too much missing info to assume the cop is guilty of a deliberate crime.
Innocent until proven guilty still stands. It's shamefull that some on the right behave toward police exactlty the same way the far left behaves toward our soldiers.

And you can suppose all of that because he's a black kid with his hat on sideways?

I honor and respect all those brave men and women who wear a badge and enforce the law. I also hold them to very high standards...the same standards that I am held to as a CCW permit holder.
I expect them to be subject to exactly the same penalties that I am subject to if I were to mistakenly shoot some young unarmed man in his own yard.
Would I be given a pass on that? No.

huh. doesnt look black to me. but if a cop is called to a 'burglary', gets to the address and a youth who matches the script comes out of the front door with a weapon...
i'm just saying i'll hold judgement until facts come out. the main thing i want to know is weapon status, officer in uniform?, script of the perps.
