Criminals have less power and are more easily dealt with then Cops, Judges, DA office, the full power of the State aligned behind them.

but they are uninhibited by laws that must be followed by the rest of us. that makes them very powerful.

please tell me how an obama presidency will make me more likely to screw up and kill someone who does not deserve it.

It won't. You're already statistically far more likely to screw up and kill an innocent person than any other group of people in the United States.

“i’m a cop. please tell me how an obama presidency will make me more likely to screw up and kill someone who does not deserve it.”

Read the “Black Book of Communism”. An Obama presidency will not make you screw up more, it will just give you license to kill without consequence. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. That is socialism. Absolute corruption.

Print your question, attach it to your calender and every year read it again. You might change the question to include your entire department. The answer should be obvious.

Hint; Look for loss of rights of the accused.

Not LA cops. I happen to know the police chief he is my late brother in law’s brother and he is chief in Anaheim.

Here is what I seriously don’t understand. I am not trying to provocative, I just find it interesting that as a conservative I want government smaller, underfunded and out of my hair. Yet the same conservatives demand intrusive police presence. I suppose this as an expression of a distrust of fellow man? I distrust politicians. Cops work for politicians and carry out the basic expression of their political will. Do you see the dichotomy? Does it make sense? Or have I become a middle aged nut case white dude?

Look, I’m just trying to get into a cops head here, so bear with me.

What I hear you saying is that, IF this guy matches a suspects description regarding age and skin tone, and IF this guy had a gun, THEN this is a good shoot, even if no verbal commands were given and not complied with.

Double-plus-good if this guy called the cops to begin with due to a personal beef. IF this is the case, I can see it, anyone who invites cops to their property, and then brandishes, deserves what they get.

Perhaps this is simply a tragedy, for everyone involved. It does happen in life. We want a smaller gov’t. We need a police force. Police walk that fine line every day. Most of the time it goes well. Sometimes it doesn't. That is life with human beings.

We need a police force. Why? I don't need one, at all. Who is this "We" to whom you refer?

I agree it is a tragedy. I own and operate two businesses. I find myself forever performing Proskinesis before the State. I am licensed, regulated, taxed, overseen, and checked up on at every turn. I spend a whole lot of time collecting taxes for the state (gross receipts)and reporting the same. I also spend a great deal of time on the road and in that capacity I have a never ending supply of paper work on the vehicle that can be demanded at any time by the police. Is this how free people live? I don’t feel free at all. I feel regulated, taxed, bullied.

def. of proskinesis: What is the New Testament definition of worship? ... or prostrating themselves before HIM, which the Greeks called proskinesis. ...

I am sick of worshiping at the alter of the STATE. Down with the State and to hell with it’s servants!

... Does this make me some kind of nut?

You might not, because you are such a badass. However, there is always a bigger badass lurking somewhere. Hopefully, he will share your judgment and sense of fair play. Hopefully.

Ive never considered myself a Libertarian. For several reasons. Number one I always saw Libertarianism as an excuse to smoke pot. Ive also always wanted to work for the betterment of the people around me. I think Libertarians are philosophically inclined to selfish behavior. Thats not me. However I see an Nihilistic urge developing in me that thinks our institutions are so fundamentally flawed their can be no saving them. They must be destroyed so we can go back to the negative constraints placed constitutionally on the government. So what does that make me. I would argue it makes me a constitutional conservative.

I would agree with that. I see myself the same way. However the Pot Lobby has used (and abused) the Libertarian movement for it’s own ends. Most people think the party and the philosophy begin and end with drug legalization. If they ever want to be relevant, they must shed that image.

Badass has nothing to do with it.

The odds of me running into a hardcore criminal are extremely low. So low that they do not justify the thousands of man-hours spent watching radars to have a cop with a gun on standby to suposedly protect me. In fact IF the real badass shows up, the only thing the cop will be good for is filling out the report on the dead guy, even if that dead guy is me.

On the other hand, if folks in this country were encouraged (instead of OFFICIALLY discouraged) to be prepared to defend themselves, the number of truly hard criminals would be much much lower.

So statistically and realistically I have zero need for cops.

This is why I am hesitant to call the police in the event of a trespasser or other incident.

That way I AM THE ONLY ONE WITH THE GUN!
