Remember, Wendy and Peggy Noonan are employed because they are good with words, not because of their deep thoughts about the intricacies of the economy or foreign policy. Noonan learned Reagan’s style of speaking, then wrote his thoughts, not her own. Her mistake is that which some actors make: they start believing that their thoughts are as deep as the those of the person they are being paid to portray. (Not that some actors - Reagan, Voight - aren’t exceptional.)

Ironically, a path back to political power for the Democrats happens when Obama loses.

To start with, Hillary becomes the de facto head of the party. She was this just before the last elections as well, but blew it. So this time, she has to purge the party of her enemies first.

Hillary has to purge the Democrats like the Empress Theodora purged her enemies, in an event that happened in the year 532 in Constantinople, called The Nika Riots. Then, she slaughtered about 30,000 of her enemy, and exiled their elected leaders. Hillary will need to do about the same to the Moonbats, if less bloodily.

But it’s all uphill from there. The die hard socialists will also be kicked out, and Hillary’s DLC will take over, with much more of the “old school Democrat” philosophy. That is, unions, “safety nets”, and hopefully the lesson she learned from Bill’s success with a Republican congress in having a balanced budget.

This will be a very successful formula if there are harsh economic times and the Republicans make the same Great Depression mistake of letting the public go hungry and homeless

As far as the Moonbats and socialists, they will probably go to the Green Party, and thankfully be marginalized.

Noonan is sour grapes. She knows that If Mcnasty gets elected Palin is the 1st woman President of the USofA. Any woman who does not come out and Vote for Palin is a fool. I voted early. If obammie gets in ladies, break out your burkas because it will be no drivin & no votin no more. The new civil police/NOI will see to that.

A few ex-Reagonites have shown themselves to be different than what we thought they were. Actually, many of the “old guard” pubbie personalities have become irrelevant and they are not going away quietly. For example, you have Pat Buchanan, Newt Gingrich among others. More recently, you have the likes of Carl Rove who is having trouble with now being on the outside.

Instead of demonstrating some maturity and graciously handing over the baton, these people seem compelled to utter trite, sour grapes thoughts about the new people on the pubbie block. To his credit McCain eshewed these people as campaign staff and advisors. In naming Palin, IMO, he effectively relegated these people to permanent exile in bystander land. They don’t like it and can’t help themselves with their self-serving and snotty remarks.

The worst part of it is that they give the dem shill media the story that the pubbie camp is a battleground. It’s only a battleground among Beltway Insider Elite.

The writing was fine. Writing is communication. If you understood what was written, the writing worked. Anyone who couldn’t understand this article has a problem with reading.

great minds think alike!

I wish they would figure out what the hell trickle down is before they bashed it.

I think they reject it out-of-hand because the term is associated with Reagan.

Forget that JFK put it to good use.
And that it worked just fine under Reagan too.

Excellent, excellent point. Thank you for pointing this out. It articulates what I was not quite able to.

Governor Palin and I don’t agree on a lot of things, mostly social issues. But I have grown to appreciate the Governor.

When someone takes on a corrupt political machine and a sitting governor, that is not done by someone with a low I.Q. or a moral core made of tissue paper.

When someone fights her way to get scholarships and work her way through college even in a jagged line, that shows determination and humility you can’t learn from reading Reinhold Niebuhr.

When a mother brings her son with special needs onto the national stage with love, honesty, and pride, that gives hope to families like mine as my older brother lives with a mental disability.

Peggy Noonan doesn't want to be frozen out of the dinner circle circuit for 4-8 years.

Thusly the knife in our back

I was dead wrong about the surge and thought it would be a disaster. Senator John McCain led when many of us were ready to quit.

No, President Bush led, but then to admit that would be to commit the ultimate sin in the modern liberal canon, wouldn't it? When finally we get to the point when the fabric of lies created to cover Democratic sabotage to a national war that was not "Bush's War" then maybe we can have a substantive conversation. Until then, don't count on it.
