This place is going absolutely bananas! I was at Game 4 and that was a fantastic baseball experience. Wish I was there tonight, but on the other hand there isn’t anybody going anywhere in Philly right now, so it’s good not to be trapped in South Philadelphia for the night.

WOW! After a decade of buying game-plan season tickets with the hope of a successful post-season, it finally all came together.

Congratulations, Phillies!

Is your family originally from Philly? Is that why you always poke fun at it? ;-)

I remember the parade. I was in high school at the time.

Whoopie! Good sign for sure! In Philadelphia this will take Obama off the headlines and exhaust the city entirely...the city will be on a binge through the weekend and will still be hung over on election day.

Also props to Charlie Manuel.

Man, that's for sure. For the past three years the people around here were laughing at Charlie and making fun of his thick West Virginia accent, and calling him names like "Elmer Befuddled" and "Charlie from Mayberry".

Now the guy is an un-fireable genius. He will be loved in Philly forever. Deservedly.
Charlie is truly an excellent manager.

Nah, only lived there for six months. Have family in Montco and Chester Counties. "Fully"-area inhabitants were the third largest group at Fordham U after New Yorkers and Massholes.

I like what they have done with Center City, and even parts of Northern Liberties. Nevertheless, the rest of the city is a war zone (North Broad, West Philly) or stuck in 1967 (Northeast Philly). I once went on a NE Philly chat group, I felt like I was in a time warp. ;-)

We spent six months living in Turnersville, not too far from the Walt Whitman Bridge on the Jersey side. My dad's office was at the airport (which needed to be privatized yesterday). I remember meeting the Philly Fanatic at Johnny Callison's car dealership.

“I wanted the Rays to get it, but congrats Phillies!”

If Tampa would have ponied up and traded the Pirates more junk than the Red Sox and Dodgers for Jason Bay during their annual fire sale of players, they probably would have won the World Series both this year and next year.

I love this...the last time the Phillies were in the World Series was the first of 16 consecutive losing seasons for the Pirates. Just think Phillies fans, next year, we will OWN that record!!!! Hell, we’ll take it a step farther and make it 20 consecutive losing seasons!!!!!! I hope that ruins your celebration :-P!!!!

Congrats to the Eastern side of the State! NOW VOTE FOR MCCAIN/PALIN!!!!!!

I’m guessing that’s why you know so much about Montco, etc. I grew up in Montco, but I lived in Southwest Philly for three years before moving to South Jersey. I worked in Olde City for eight years. I was working there when the GOP convention was in town in 2000. The protestors were wild. Hubby grew up in North Philly.

You may be right about the hooligans. Fox29 is showing a crowd going wild in the streets, and they pointed out a taxi, its front window smashed by people jumping on it.

There are just thousands of people in Philly now who will be too tired to work the street for Obama on Tuesday. It is all college students and young people. They will be partied out. “The messiah” has been replaced by “The Philly Fanatic.”

Hubby grew up in North Philly.

He probably saw more action than most Marines. God bless him for surviving!

“Let’s hope the Catholics abide by Church teaching.”

Maybe the Cardinals were the slap a bunch of Obama dems needed as an excuse to NOT vote Obama.

“He will be loved in Philly forever”

Charlie is a manager beyond compare. He seemed to make the team manage themselves and he really encouraged them to be their best. He deserves this for a marvelous job.

I said the exact same thing as what was said in the title to my brother tonight, immediately upon the Phillies win. It's a good omen, I thought.

He replied, that perhaps it's that a transcendent figure in politics wins the presidency when the Phillies win the world series. I sure hope the title and I are right, and my sibling is wrong. : )

I was in college when the Phillies won the last world series. The most exciting games I ever saw..../sigh

What a change to see the Phillies do it so easily, instead of being the comeback kids. They appear to be a nice, respectful, well-disciplined team, which probably has much to do with their success.
