A week after his last money plea, Obama asks everyone for another $5 It seems like only a week ago that The Ticket was whining about Barack Obama whining that after raising $605 million through September to buy the presidency, he was asking all of us one last time for just $10 more for some reason.
And we figured out that, October money aside, he'd have to spend $12.5 million a day just to unload September's haul by Nov. 4.
The Democrat is already outspending the Republican by three and four-to-one, which if it was the other way around would surely be unconscionable.
So last night Obama dumped several million bucks on several TV networks, which they don't mind, to talk at us slickly for 27 minutes about his change that we need.
And when that was over, pingo, here comes another e-mail from Windy City HQ. You'll never guess what. He wants more money. More. Still.
It was a blessedly short message. He called us by our first name and signed only his first name; so we must be pals. He put the entire fate of his historic campaign in our hands. "The campaign is in your hands," he wrote.
Which is a pretty big responsibility, on top of adjusting to a Pennsylvania team winning a World Series.
The good news is he only wants $5 from each of us this time. (But, alas, no car magnet this time.)
$605 million here. And $605 million there. Pretty soon, this change business is getting kinda expensive. And we haven't even gotten to the increased taxes part of any new administration.
Barack calls this money pitch "a donation for the Final Push," which we were kinda thinking or hoping was last week.

I have a feeling if he wins that we are going to see corruption and self-enrichment on a scale that just will blow the mind.
I also expect to see the Patriot Act expanded to be used heavily against law abiding citizens and totally not used against those suspected of terrorist activities.
He’s starting to sound like a tax-and-spend liberal. There literally is no upper limit to the amounts asked of taxpayers since they have an endless supply of ideas about they can better spend your money than you can.
He’s doing this to smokescreen the millions in small donations he’s getting illegally. The legitimate donations help the illegal donation get lost in crowd.
Gotta pay off the foreign investors - Saudi, Palestinian buds.
He is spending like this now. Can you imagine what he will spend once he has the national purse strings?
McCain should employ this theme.
Maybe he wants the money to start his own Civilian National Security Force, so he can ravage the country when he loses - just like his cousin Odinga!
I’m amazed at how effective campaign finance reform has been at “cleaning up politics” and “getting money of out the game.”

Obama will come out of this election in the hole. If he doesn’t win, it will be ugly. If he does win, he’ll be selling influence like crazy trying to make up.
I thought all this money was bad. When its the Republican spending more money the MSM decries it as the culture of greed and “special interests” buying the white house. When its a Dem...Its just good campaigning!

The plate is always empty the next Sunday. But with Obama you get a picture of him instead of Jesus. Even Tammy Faye and Jim didn’t go quite that far, but then a picture of Tammy Faye - Yikes.
Look how easily he raised this money. Do you think suddenly as President he will get the urge to take in less tax dollars? Or do you think perhaps he will say, “Hey remember that campaign line of mine? I just need you to give me another 5 bucks...yea...we will just keep doing that...”
This will be the biggest tax and tax and tax and tax presidency EVER.
That was my actual train-of-thought; he’s likely spent more than he has, or will go in the hole before the campaign is over. These “desparate” pleas are a sign of a campaign in the red - “Please, just send $10. If you can’t send $10, send $5. Anything you can give will help the cause!”
This newbie has no idea how to budget his money properly. Another reason he will lose.

He’ll hath quite a boatload to spend in 2011 when he starts shutting down every opponent on the radar.

“Sen. Obama, with your $650 million in donations, have you retired Hillary Clinton’s $20 million campaign debt as you pledged?”

Team Obama knows that, worst case, the FEC will fine them and force them to return a lot of their donation $$$, possibly more than $300 million. They need to cover that risk. That’s why they need to grab up more money from the masses.
