Skip to comments.McCain camp trying to scapegoat Palin
Posted on 10/30/2008 7:17:48 AM PDT by Roberts
John McCain's campaign is looking for a scapegoat. It is looking for someone to blame if McCain loses on Tuesday.
And it has decided on Sarah Palin.
In recent days, a McCain adviser told Dana Bash of CNN: She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone.
Imagine not taking advice from the geniuses at the McCain campaign. What could Palin be thinking?
Also, a top McCain adviser told Mike Allen of Politico that Palin is a whack job.
Maybe she is. But who chose to put this whack job on the ticket? Wasnt it John McCain? And wasnt it his first presidential-level decision?
And if you are a 72-year-old presidential candidate, wouldnt you expect that your running mates fitness for high office would come under a little extra scrutiny? And, therefore, wouldnt you make your selection with care? (To say nothing about caring about the future of the nation?)
McCain didnt seem to care that much. McCain admitted recently on national TV that he didnt know her well at all before he chose Palin.
But why not? Why didnt he get to know her better before he made his choice?
Its not like he was rushed. McCain wrapped up the Republican nomination in early March. He didnt announce his choice for a running mate until late August.
Wasnt that enough time for McCain to get to know Palin? Wasnt that enough time for his crackerjack vetters to investigate Palins strengths and weaknesses, check through records and published accounts, talk to a few people, and learn that she was not only a diva but a whack job diva?

So does this mean when they win, Gov Palin is on top?
Roger Simon is a leftist tool from Politico.
I doubt McCain himself is, probably typical whiners are - that, or the media is completely making this up.
If it weren’t for Palin, McCain would be down by 20% as many Conservatives couldn’t hold their nose for McCain (unless he chose Cantor or Jindall- neither could do for the campaign what Palin did).
ROTFLMAO Apparently they did not like her going out and getting Elizabeth Hasselback.
Works for me!
This guy has been an Obama talking parrot for months now. Ignore.
Gov. Palin is the one and only reason McCain is still in the running.
When I hear this stuff I know the DNC, MSM, and Obama camp are getting desperate.
I can’t wait for the Election to be over. Then we can get back to the standard leftist agitprop.
all these liberal media’s now are trying to divide and conquer
come up with the crap stories about all of this to make it look like we’re in disarray while the cool messiah is in control
no mention of his familiy living in slums in Boston and Kenya
why not mention the illegal money he has, why no mention of the birth certificate
why no mention of his being a radical anti semitic plus racist and sexist
no they mention this crap
n o wonder I never read any of these media lots anymore
I knew this was Politico as soon as I saw the headline.
Right. If only we had someone really exciting like Tim Pawlenty or Tom Ridge instead, McCain would be running away with this election!
This columnist criticizes the McCain campaign for the two things that have raised his poll numbers the most—Palin and Joe the Plumber. Use him as a negative barometer.
The way a big grin comes across McCain’s face every time Palin speaks, I think he has absolutely no regrets in his choice.
this is about the 5th time already today where I have read a crap biased link making us look in disarray
this is the media’s tactic now for the final days, make us look hopeless and useless while ignoring all the obama illegal money
why anyone reads this garbage is beyond me anyway
just ban them all, LA times, NY times, MSNBC,NBC
infact I am amazed that some on here still watch those two channels
just ban them, it’s not like they are telling the news
We should all get our news from a search engine.
I personally get mine from Webcrawler. /s
This is all about the media continuing to try to destroy Governor Palin to take her out so that she’s a non-factor in 2012 if we don’t win this year. It isn’t going to work. They still fear Sarah more than anyone.
Roger Simon is the Chief Political Columnist of politico.com
Where/how do these people make up this stuff?
The gop is in bizzaro world these days. Palin as the nominee would win in a walk.
Yeah, and if Obama wins, FR will be super busy for the next 4 yrs and we can all tell each other what’s going to happen.
so its a Yahoo AP deal...so just ignore it.
if it is true that they are not happy with her, higher ups in the McCain campain would NOT be telling the dooooosh bags over at Yahoo/AP and other Drive-bys, the family business.
this is a BS story.
The FED for not insuring banks had adequate reserves and allowing unrealistically low reserve rates with too many exceptions.
Republicans for acting like democrats the last time they had control.
Yet another hit piece using unnamed sources to describe tension in the McCain camp just before the election.
“When I hear this stuff I know the DNC, MSM, and Obama camp are getting desperate.”
I have to agree with you 100%. Now B. Hussein Obama and his liberal MSM pals are shouting that ‘Pubs will be in his cabinet. I think they are looking at REAL polls and getting desperate.
I didn’t believe this three days ago when I read it, and I don’t believe it now.
Goats are rambunctious distracted animals. It figures that the goats of satan would want to see the lambs sacrificed instead.
McCain campaign, don’t you DARE try to blame it on Palin. If it weren’t for her, you would be 15 points down. She brought life back into a stale party.
Your poor choices of what to say and do are the real problem.
The media cover up and coronation of Obamae is paralled in history only by Leni Riefenstahl’s “Triumph of the Will” Last night was “Triumph of the Hope”
Only it will not work imo.
This story and the API nonsense wins most posted garbage award.
Palin is throwing buckets of water out of the lifeboat as fast as she can, while McCain’s advisors are drilling holes in the bottom, in hopes the seawater will drain out that way. What a bunch of tools who couldn’t “Cowboy Up” if their life depended on it.
This is a crock of BS!
Without Palin they would have already planted McCain’s tombstone!
I held down the bile and watched that and...what a downer, what a pathetically negative view of these United States.
Everything negative and of course he is the "one" who will come in and fix it all for us.
I have news for Barry...we do not need or want his help or involvement. Just get the heck out of the way.
This is “news”? I can’t believe this gets mixed in with “news” on Yahoo. Actually, I do believe it but am dismayed at what blarney gets out there in the media. “sources say” “anonymous insiders reports” blah blah blah
Unattributed means made up.
So the not-so-conservative wins the primary WITHOUT support of the Republican base, pretty much continues to snub the base during the election campaign, but it’s got to be someone else’s fault that he loses to a lightweight like Obama.
RNC, here’s your clue:
YOU NOMINATED A LOSER!
Palin has been the ONLY bright spot in this entire fiasco that began in January. Fie! on McCain.
This is a bag of wishful thinking from the leftnuts and Romney mopers. The McCain campaign isn’t stupid. Sarah is McCain’s Superstar, and he lets her shine.
If McCain loses, he has only two people to blame:
Jorge el Segundo and HIMSELF.
But I doubt if these stories are true.
They are payback for the McCain camp attacking Biden’s gaffs which ostensbily attack Obama.
No, if McCain loses, its more likely the leftist media will come back and say “Gee, we really LIKED you John, but that extreme, far-right wing conservative Palin made you lose!”
Which is why Palin must keep herself in the popualr limelight. SHE is the party’s hope for the future if McCain loses.
Rachel Madcow was spewing this stuff the other night-all from anonomyous sources of course. I don’t believe one word of it. If no one liked her, no one would show up for her rallies.
I think the opposite is true. If the McCain/Palin ticket loses, McCain should be the scapegoat; he’s the drag on the ticket, not Palin.
I’m Barack Obama and I approved this Bovine Excrement.
The left just doesn’t know what to make of her.
They don’t understand someone being genuine, as the whole leftist philosophy is about saying one thing and doing another.
But there is no doubt that she has connected with a great number of people. Just as some have commented, I was ready to sit this election out, but now I feel like it’s my duty to get this woman into national office.
One thing is certain, Palin has a much brighter future in politics than McCain has.
McCain and his wife were on w/Hannity on Monday or Tuesday, and he debunked any kind of riff w/Sarah. In fact, he said it was good that they disagreed at times; he needed her to challenge him and give differing opinions (my paraphrase of what he said).
He seemed extremely glad to have her on the ticket.
McCain, on the other hand, has seen his campaign take off since he selected Palin. She attracts huge crowds. She has real star power. The Base has never been wild about McCain -- but they are wild about this ticket.
Why would McCain (or his staff) have any misgivings? This reminds me of Lincoln receiving complaints about General Grant's drinking: "Find out which brand -- I will send a case to each of my other generals!"
