As a conservative, I bridle at some of their suggestions, but if it helps us defeat Lord Obama, I'll go along, for now

Sorta like allying with the Soviets against Hitler....

I think what it really is, though, is the next-to-last step in the formation of a centrist party that fills the vacuum created by the "outward" (left/right) movement of the Democrat and Republican parties.

The Hillary crowd would probably be the leftmost fringe of that party, but they'll be pretty moderate by the standards of todays Democrats. I think the rightmost fringe is probably somewhat rightward of McCain, but not "conservative" according to the current ideology. The vast majority of the party will be made up of "normal folks" who lack strong ideology -- though overall, I think the party ends up being slightly to the right of center.

I think that if Obama wins, the Democrat party will dissolve, the Republican party will crater, and this new party will be running a viable candidate by 2012.

There are TONS of grass roots democrats working day and night to defeat Obama, if there was this level of grass roots support for Obama by Republicans they would be featured day and night in the media.

When the story is written of this election it will be that democrats abandoned Obama in droves, like I’ve been saying for months.

This is not an isolated phenomenon, after a while the TONS of anecdotal evidence becomes a movement. My mother will not vote for a dem president for the first time since she’s been eligible to vote.

The PUMAs are great - I admire their determination.

At this point I’d give anything to have Hillary - who I was completely against - as our opponent. At least she is a real American. Obama makes her look almost like one of us.

If you believe the ultimate is to be American and tolerant of diverse opinions

I am an American, and I am tolerant of diverse opinions, IF those opinions don't lead directly to the loss of my God given rights or my property. Then I turn intolerant REAL fast. Sorry, I'm just a neanderthal like that - I sort of like my freedom. Too bad I can't be more tolerant.

Yes, we may not agree with most of Hillary’s views but she doesn’t hate America like Obama
and I say that as a Conservative.

I disagree. I think that they went along with the Pelosis and Reids and Obama mamas thinking that Hilary would win it fairly. I think they kept their mouths shut to get Hilary elected and when that wasn’t possible, they started looking at theit party and realized that winning the Presidency wasn’t worth selling their soles to the obama socialist dictatorship

Forming a coalition of conservative Democrats and conservative Republicans will show both parties that we are serious about getting rid of the everyone in Washington that has used our tax dollars to stay in office.
They are all rapists!!! They are raping our children’s future. They are stealing the inheritance we have to pass on to future generations. Pelosi is too busy making friends with terrorists to be providing service to her constituents. She and Barney and Dodd and many Republicans who don’t blow the whistle on the others are no better or worse just because they Have a D behind the word rapist or an R behind the word Rapist.

I have so much admiration for them. They didn’t give up and get out of politics, they didn’t just keep their mouths shut and support Obama for the “good of the party” they chose to help us make sure that socialism doesn’t sweep our country. That William Ayers puppet doesn’t get into the White House.

I personally want to thank them for their help. Their party is no more of a dissapointment than our party has been. Both parties have veered to the left.

After all, we have had rabid radical leftists putting both of us down.

POWER TO THE PUMAS!!

For whatever it's worth around here?

I agree with you.

Problem is the GOP under Bush was all about appealing to the squishy moderates. Yeah, that worked well.

60% of the electorate consistently, cycle after cycle, label themselves as conservatives. That should give us pause. People instinctively favor lower taxes, smaller government, less regulation, more freedom, etc.

I think we run in to problems not by being conservative, but by failing to try to communicate to independent voters what we’re really about.

Well said! If the majority of people consider themselves conservative, and we can't win on our own merits, then we make it worse by selling out (or compromising as some call it), because we aren't giving people a reason to vote for us.

For eight years, we've compromised, and the end result is a bigger and more intrusive government. Another 4-8 years of compromise and we might as well hang it up, the USA will be finished as we know it.

“My mother will not vote for a dem president for the first time since she’s been eligible to vote.”

My mother has been voting Democrat for several elections. This year she is voting for Palin/McCain.
