HONOLULU -- The state's Department of Health director on Friday released a statement verifying the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama birth certificate.
The state has received multiple requests for a copy of Obama's birth certificate. State law does not allow officials to release the birth certificate of a person to someone outside of the family.
There were rumors that Obama was born in Kenya, where his father is from. The Constitution requires that the president be a natural born citizen of the U.S.
While many sites and news organizations have released copies provided by the Obama campaign, the rumors have persisted.
"There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate. State law (Hawai‘i Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record," DOH Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said.
"Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures. No state official, including Governor Linda Lingle, has ever instructed that this vital record be handled in a manner different from any other vital record in the possession of the State of Hawai‘i," Fukino said.
Multiple lawsuits were filed to try and force Obama to provide proof of citizenship.

Glad the cert is legit. Now Obama has no problems releasing it. Glad it’s been cleared up.
But no mention of Grandma and how she is doing. Obama is so shallow that everybody saw thru his trip. But he spent 200,000 flying his private plane to get it take care of.

Sorry, no sell here. I am not accepting the word of ANYONE on this issue, they could easily have been bribed off. If and Until this certificate is released to the PUBLIC as McCain did this issue will contine to be on the table. We the people have the right to see that certificate, and this will NOT go away.

I am not one to really ride this issue much, the the thing is, the statement only said they saw their copy.
In fact, they told a newspaper a couple days ago she could not verify whether what they had matches what Obama has on his website!
So, basically all she is saying is she looked at the record on file.
It does not confirm whether he was born in HI or not.

Basically, all we still know is that Obama was born alive.
The statement does not say anything about the legitimacy of his birth records.
This was first posted last night and was fully attacked then.
So the next question should be, does the Hawai‘i State Department of Health keep foreign birth certificates of recently arriving babies on record in accordance with state policies?
They only state that they have it, not what it says. It could still say he was born in Kenya. The place where it was issued has it, but if Hawaii was where the first one was issued, it could still say he was born in Kenya.

That's NOTHING. A previous thread dropped the Hawaiian bombshell. Had Hawaii State law that Hawaiian birth certificates were available for those born outside the United States if one or both parents were citizens.
So he could be born ANYWHERE and still have a "legit" Hawaii State Birth Certificate and it would be "in accordance with state policies and procedures".

QUERY: The above statement begs the question as to what the “original birth certificate on record” discloses as to B.O’s birth place. That they can verify its existence does not speak to its content. So, Ms. Director of Health what’s the deal?

There are so many well-proven reasons to vote against Obama (his socialism, his alliances with Ayers, Wright, Rezko etc.) that I think the birth certificate and “he’s a Muslim” issues have been distractions that probably generates sympathy for Obama with some voters.
