If there is one thing a government can do very easily, is bankrupt any industry it chooses. It should terrify everyone, particularly union members.

You are missing the point. Obama doesn't want to bankrupt industries just for the helluvit. He wants to drive essential industries like energy into bankruptcy and then "save" them by nationalizing them. Of course as gubbermint enterprises they no longer need to earn a profit; they just become one more excrescence of the welfare state.

Union parasites understand this, and trading in a union private sector job for a union goobermint job is like going to pig heaven for them.

It is entirely possible that many UMW thugs will say "Great! We be on the gubberment dole pretty soon!"

See how socialism sucks in the dunces? Slicker'n frog's hair if you do it right.

And the Obamanoids are definitely slick.

Don't forget; he's going to replace all petroleum use in ten years. So I guess there won't be any cars then.

No matter, we won't need cars. Or electricity. We will all be marching out to the fields in work battalions with picks and shovels on our shoulders and caps pulled down over our ears against the cold.

You have it precisely. Fieldwork with Our Leader smiling from a gazillion billboards. I like spuds, ruttabaga, and cabbage, so I should be ok, if a little down from my usual 240 lbs.

It’s a horror story. It may be the forced unindustrialization of America. TPTB? That must stand for “ruling political elite” or something like that. Agreed.

Why do I picture a guy up in the woods looking at the work group leader through an optical device? :-)

You’re right - it’s unindustrialization. Going backwards. Even Europe knows it made a mistake with socialism and is trying to undo much of it. Unsucessfully in most cases. TPTB - the powers that be.

Ah yes, the powers that be ... doh! It’s always hard to regain freedoms lost. We will pay dearly.

My hubby was just saying tonight that Reagan had warned about that...

I don’t think I missed the point. There are many things people are worried Obama will do. Some of those things I don’t think he will be able to do given the regional interests that will cause even Democrats to vote against him. But, Obama can bankrupt industries simply by getting legislation past that puts a burden on specific industries which drives them into bankruptcy. He can have EPA pass certain regulations which force companies into financial chaos or remove their ability to compete. This is a very real concern.
