Don’t believe the polls, here’s why
Canada Free Press ^ | 11/04/2008 | Yomin Postelnik

Traveling recently through North Virginia, it was clear that the area is no where near as pro-Obama as the media would have you believe. It reminded me of the CNN reporter in North Carolina who just days before had said on air that while the polls gave Obama an edge in that state, John McCain seemed to have a clear advantage on the ground.

80% OF THOSE ASKED TO BE POLLED REFUSE TO RESPOND

EXIT POLLS WILL HAVE THIS EFFECT ON AN EVEN WORSE LEVEL

IN THE END WE’LL WIN – EVERYTHING LOOKS THAT WAY ON THE GROUND

Brian Wilson of Fox who traveled all over the swing states said the polls don’t reflect what is happening on the ground.

Watch the stock markets as they are future values not referendums of the past. An Obomba victory is already priced in and if indeed he wins; markets will not further react. Alternatively, McCain’s victory will shock indexes vertically.

Notice how most of the polls a few days ago were 4-8 points +Obama????

Last night, most were 1-2 points or even.....Polls don’t want to be that far off because of credibility for the NEXT election cycle...

Remember that guy in IA at a McCain town meeting who said, “I’m mad, REALLY MAD!”

That’s what’s happening on the ground and the reporters and the pollsters have blinders on.

I absentee voted last month in CO. What's already clear is there's not going to be this mythical 7-10+ Dem turnout the polls were talking about. If you look at Battleground and what's happening on the ground, Obama is going to be in for the shock of his life tonight!

Exactly, you don't actually think the prospect of Obama in the WH is an inducement for economic recovery. In fact, I don't know anyone who thinks so.

However, in another stunning scenario of abject MSM malfeasance, the whole topic of an Obama victory precipitating a further plunge and/or a more prolonged slump is avoided altogether.

Polls don’t want to be that far off because of credibility for the NEXT election cycle...

And that's why I propose that in the next election cycle we organize a polling equivalent of Operation Chaos. We will publicly and deliberately let everyone know we are supporting the opposition candiate in the polls. We will end the tyranny of endless polling by undermining its "credibility."

There are hundreds of thousands of people who voted in the last two Presidential cycles and did NOT vote for Bush who WILL vote for McCain.

That’s the ONE POLL that has not been revealed but will give McCain the edge.

I know that you don't mean "all" but I want to add that there are a number of black, how large I don't know, that see the evil in Obama. They mostly keep their mouths shut so they don't become objects of revenge. Pray for them.

If polled after voting we should all say we voted for Alan Keyes. It’ll mess with their heads since Keyes is black so they can’t pull the race card. How will they whine?

I was just watching Fox News and Bill Hemmer was interviewing Chuckie Schumer and Chuckie was advocating the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE. Kid you not.

Schumer was rambling about how people want to control pornography, etc, but don’t believe in the Fairness Doctrine, yada, yada, yada. He was trying to make the argument of a moral equivalent between the two.

If it makes all of you feel any better about Virginia...I’m a newly registered voter...this is my first election. I must confess, I was a lazy “closet conservative” for many years and did nothing about it. I was tired of letting the Democrats and liberals make me feel guilty for believing what I believe so I finally registered. I was at the voting booth this morning at 6:30 am. McCain/Palin got one more vote in Virginia. It might be close, but I don’t see Virginia going for O.

This is also my first post after watching for many months now...be nice.

Welcome.

You now begin to join a class of people who know more about Congress, our government, the economy, politicians, history and human nature than we generally know or care about professional sports or celebrities. My warning is that this is a very frustrating experience; and I will be the first to admit life seems easier when we are distracted by mass entertainment—but that is not what most of us would call living.

Depends where you go, actually. The inner suburbs might as well be Chicago, but the west and south parts of NoVA are strong for McCain. I look for Fairfax and Loudon counties to go for Obama, but just barely, and not enough to offset major Republican turnout in the rest of the state.

Welcome to FR! And--about that "taking the blinders off" moment: I had mine during the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings. I watched them on C-Span--and having just recently left a job as an EEO (equal employment opportunity) conselor with a large Federal Agency, I was at first outraged by the possiblity that a Supreme Court nominee could be guilty of sexual harassment. I had handled several cases of serious sexual harasssment,(in fact in one instance almost-deadly because the woman harassed attempted suicide)and had NO sympathy for anyone guilty of such actions.

But after listening for several days to all the "witnesses"--including Anita Hill--who came forward both for and against Mr. Thomas, I realized the charge was TOTALLY FABRICATED. Anita Hill worked for Clarence Thomas--and no doubt he said some things to her that were "off color"--no pun intended! But when she admitted that she willingly followed him to work with him in a new job, alarm bells went off in my head; that just does NOT fit the pattern of women who have been sexually harassed.

Then, after listening to the entire hearings, I became convinced that the REAL "crime" Clarence Thomas was guilty of was being a Conservative strict Constituionalist who might just possibly be opposed to affirmative action and Roe v Wade! And THAT was what made Thomas an anathema to the Left.

Watching those hearings was MY epiphany, because after watching them all day I would turn on the nightly news programs and witness--in shock and then horror--how a few short sound-bites could TOTALLY distort what had happened. The bias was just as bad as it is now--totally favoring the Left. Cokie Roberts of NPR (which I always listened to before then) was one of the most outspoken critics of Thomas--as was my former Congresswoman Pat Schroeder. They got a lot of air-time--and even after Clarence Thomas was confirmed, the "history" of the hearings was re-written to make Anita Hill a hero--and Clarence Thomas the villain.

Of course, Free Republic was not around back then--but thank God JimRob and John were in 1998--when Clinton actually was guilty of sexual harassment. A lot of us remember those days--and what a joy it was to have fellow Freepers to "talk" to.

So--welcome, newbie, to a place where, for the most part, truth and reason--and some really sharp moderators--reign.
