World hopes for a 'less arrogant America'(Obama-mania)

BERLIN – A world weary of eight years of George W. Bush was riveted Tuesday by the drama unfolding in the United States. Many were inspired by Barack Obama's focus on hope, or simply relieved that — whoever wins — the current administration is coming to an end.

From Berlin's Brandenburg Gate to the small town of Obama, Japan, the world gears up to celebrate a fresh start for America.

In Germany, where more than 200,000 flocked to see Obama this summer as he moved to burnish his foreign policy credentials during a trip to the Middle East and Europe, the election dominated television ticker crawls, newspaper headlines and Web sites.

Hundreds of thousands prepared to party through the night to watch the outcome of an election having an impact far beyond America's shores. Among the more irreverent festivities planned in Paris: a "Goodbye George" party to bid farewell to Bush.

"Like many French people, I would like Obama to win because it would really be a sign of change," said Vanessa Doubine, shopping Tuesday on the Champs-Elysees. "I deeply hope for America's image that it will be Obama."

Obama-mania was evident not only across Europe, where millions geared up for all-night vigils, but even in much of the Islamic world, where Muslims expressed hope that the Democrat would seek compromise rather than confrontation.

The Bush administration alienated Muslims by mistreating prisoners at its detention center for terrorism

if a Frenchman came to the US and knocked France, he'd be a source of amusement, if a Russian knocked Russia, he'd be listened to and agreed with on principal, if a Venezuelan knocked Chavez he'd be in this country and safe!

Now Obambi travels the world and puts down the US and suddenly he's the only hope for the world?

Hey Algore told a sh*t load of lies and won a Nobel prize

GET OUT AND VOTE FREEPERS!

Does ANYONE (outside the media) truly believes "the world" wants what is best FOR Americans? No, those countries who hate us now, yesterday and tomorrow, will still hate us. Obama, if he is elected President, will find out on Day One.

Countries only have interests not friends. Only when our interests coincide with other countries can they to be considered our friend and for no other reason.

First, George Bush is my man. I respect him because he does it his way, right of wrong. Second, I don't give a damn what the French, Germans and all of the other European riffraff think or like. Most of us like our country just the way it is. We have bumps and lumps and we don't get along with each other very well, Right. So why to these Europeans call us to save their collective asses when they get in trouble?

In Germany, where more than 200,000 flocked to see Obama this summer

Another oft-repeated lie. They were there to see a concert, planned long before Obama inserted himself.

The majority of UN members are NOT democracies.

Sad but true. The UN is UNfriendly to US.

And yet we continue to pay the fees for these bums.

I don’t know how true this story is - I’ve from ‘over there’ and the feedback I’ve been getting from various sources is the exact opposite of this article.

Arrogant?

That means a non-Moslem who refuses to bend to the will of the mullahs.

So, somebody wants a less arrogant America?

Not while I'm around.

I’m sick and tired of hearing about how Bush Alienated the world! Give me a break!! No one man has done more to help Muslims...people who are not even from our country....than President Bush. Does the world really want Saddam Hussein back? Does Iraq really want their dictatorship back? Does the world really want the Taliban back and Al Qaeda back in Afghanistan? Seriously, you people out there in la la land have got to get a grip. People don’t hate President Bush because he’s ignorant or whatever...They hate him because he had the guts to do do one none of the whiners before him had the balls to do.....which is to fix the damn problem.

Granted he’s made mistakes. And, granted, it’s been tough as hell if not pure hell at times. But, this is grown up time!! The world is and will be a better place down the road because of President Bush’s policy in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s just too bad, the world is too ignorant to think beyond George Bush’s butchered syntax. To this day, the political left is still incapable of thinking passed the ‘beer party’ coming up this Friday. It was true when I was in college and it’s true to this day.

An Obama presidency means less arrogance?

That is ParlorSpeak for "Independent"

As in: The United States is too arrogant(independent) according to the views of the world.

Europe wishes for a less arrogant(independent)American policy.

American arrogance(independence) spells trouble for the Crown of King George and the British Empire.

You get the idea...

My hope is that the “world” stop its arrogant rantings about America.

USA is the great HOPE of many people all around the world.

“Europe wishes for a less arrogant(independent)American policy. “

I flip my nose at Europe’s arrogance.

The Obama family can takek their America-hating Rev Wright and Bill Ayers and friends and move to Europe.

We don’t need them anyhow.

That's the only way an empty suit can be seen as having gravitas.

And why Sarah is "unqualified" as president even though she's not running for that office. Because she didn't have an passport until recently.

About that "arrogance"... umm, is that the arrogance of being successful, and proud of our hard work and independent nature? Or the arrogance of being there to help serve any other nation on earth in their time of need? Or the arrogance born of the fact that we're more willing to protect ourselves from the ravages of total socialism, no matter how good it sounds to the voter's heart? (Lord, please let this be so today, more than ever!)

Which arrogance is it exactly that "the world" dislikes?

LESS arrogant?

I’m sorry but you expect millionaire elitists who expect it all handed to them to be LESS arrogant?

Oh right - I forgot, other nations are already run by the most arrogant amongst them..

Yes, but he'll be 'kind' to terrorists the way the AP wants him to.
