Yes I went and voted today. For the first time in my life, I voted for a straight republican ticket. On the way to the polls I kept asking myself if I could vote for Obama as I have always been a Democrat. Could I be loyal to the Democrat party. When I sat down and looked at that ballot, I realized that I had no choice but to vote for the republicans. After I turned in my ballot and left the polling place, I got sick at my stomach. I realized that I was no longer a Democrat but now a Republican. This goes against everything that I have stood for all my life. Yes today was the saddest day of my life. It was like leaving home for the 1st and last time, I cut the strings that attached me to the Democrat party. I am hoping for a McCain victory, but if it does not happen, then I am content with my decision. God Save America
Well, if it’s any consolation, voting for John McCain is not exactly like voting for a “Republican” -
any more than voting for Joe Lieberman is like voting for a “Democrat”
If and when you really internalize becoming a “Republican” you’ll recognize that!

No, sir, it does not make you a Republican. It makes you a human and an American with a choice. You voted for ‘the best for you at this time’. Work hard to get your party back! I know we ‘Conservatives’ have a tough row to hoe.
Fortunately my parents were conservatives and raised me properly, and every time I have even flirted with the idea of changing party affiliation, the democrats declare one more thing that is fundamental to this democracy is their enemy.
When they Boy Scouts are your enemy and the pedophiles are your friend, you will not get my support. When believe a man can go into a womans bathroom just because he decided he is a woman that day.. you will not get my support. When you tell me this country is a force of evil in the world, you will not get my support.
I have voted for individual democrats at various times who I felt were the better candidate, because they were the better candidate. However, rarely do I come to these conclusions.

I went through this in 1992. My first Republican vote was for GHWB against Bill Clinton. I have not pulled a lever next to a (D) since.

Oh, I’d LOVE for the GOP to become the “center-left” party with McCain, and another part right flank them, with the dhimmirats not being at all viable anymore.

Republicans are more like Democrats and the dem are commufascist now. The Republicans of my youth are all but a memory.
After seeing the video documentary of how out-of-state agitators (ACORN, etc.) and intimidaters STEAL the various caucuses from Hillary in the primaries, along with everything elese we now know (or don't know the full story of) about Obama and his thugs, I can't see how ANY good American can vote for Obama.
Ed, you’re not a republican. You’re a person without a party because there is no “democrat” party anymore. It’s been that way a long time. It just took you a little longer than Reagan to realize it.
I do wonder why Ed felt obliged to vote straight republican.
It must be hard to go against your upbringing and the party you've belonged to all your life.
This is why liberals are such morons. When a Party completely repudiates your beliefs you have no choice but to move on. Why keep supporting a group that despises your soul?

It is ok to change. We had all change in one point or another in life. Grew up in a democrat household but the first time I had a chance to vote I voted Republican but I had always register as an Indpendent. I even voted for a good democrat once in awhile.
I could not bring myself to vote for Carter a second time so I voted for Anderson. I couldn’t bring myself to vote for Clinton, so I voted for Perot. (Just loved those pie charts).
I realized that I no longer was a Democrat when I would listen (and agree) with Rush while going to stuff envelopes for a liberal friend running for Congress.
The democrat party left me a very long, long time ago. I suspect the party of the people, the party of the solid south ceased sometime around Lyndon Baines Johnson’s administration.
I voted today to save the republic. I sure hope to watch Sarah Palin sworn in as our first female Vice President.

If it’s any consolation, most of us had to cross party lines to vote for McCain too. He usually hangs out with your side more than ours anyway. :p
