Am I missing something or does this look really good?
Well that is a good start.
All meaningless without know where the votes are coming from.
Urban areas tend to come in last but it is raining in Tidewater and Richmond I think
The turnout was huge in VA. As an anecdote, my oldest left work early to vote and walked out of the voting place next to a woman who was surprised by the touchscreen machine. The last time she voted was paper ballot.
That was at least 6 to 8 years ago here. The couch potatoes are voting.
far too early to say.
Site says “unofficial”
Win.
Win for liberty.
Win for individualism.
Win for faith.
Win for what made this nation great.
And win so I can watch Keith Olberman’s head explode on live television.
All meaningless without know where the votes are coming from.
The VA votes are from Chesterfield and Campbell counties, there is no surprise here.
It’s a nailbiter, perhaps, but I suspect the broken glass republicans are in force this election. I voted here in the 5th district. Apparently an early rush at 7am, but dead when I got there at 8:30 am. If you’re worried, two of albemarle county’s finest Republicans (and good friends of mine) run the show at my polling place. There will be, therefore, no shenanigans in my precinct.
Of course they are ‘unofficial’. In VA elections, the official results are not certified by the State Board of Elections until November 7, 2009. But for now, this website show results that are the official state counts of votes.
Assume nothing until Richmond City and Northern Virginia (Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax County and parts of Loudoun, Prince George and Stafford Counties) come in.
If McCain pulls off an amazing upset that disproves the entire media/polling apparatus as a partisa joke, the front page of the NY Times will show:
a. A tearful Barack Obama
b. A tearful black child
c. An angry, blood-thirsty mob of shocked Democrats.
d. A victorious Obama anyway.
I should add Norfolk, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News and Suffolk too.
Perhaps we should put a few Obama signs in our front yard in case Obama loses so our houses will be by passed by the rioters. LOL.
Early results from Newport news have McCain up 55% to 45% (rounded up). Good news if it holds.
You got that right (re NoVA)
MSNBC has a good page with the live results and a map.
Give credit where it’s due...

Looking at the Gilmore numbers it’s neck and neck IMHO!
1) John McCain and Sarah Palin - 58,388 55.55%

When Odinga lost in Kenya in 11/07 his Islamic hoard went on a rampage burning Christian churches so that his cousin Obama brokered a power sharing arrangement with the winner. Maybe Bambi will be McCain’s Secretary of State?
FNC’s Barone says McCain running even with GWB’s 2004 #’s in the traditional strongholds but is running -10% in the suburbs.
Dang. That’s big. It should be tighter than that.
bttt
1) John McCain and Sarah Palin - 100,369 55.56%

180,628 of 5,034,660 total voters (3.587%)
Political Passover?
This is something that I'd naver seen before. Red ones for McCain, blue ones for the moonbat fruitcake. Green ones for-- somebody. I was able to assess the crowd by looking at the colored papers in their hands. Mostly lefties, but there was more of a showing for McCain than there would have been in my home precinct in California.
The ballots were a lot shorter, too. In CA, there are many more initiatives, minor candidates and funding measures to vote on.
Looks good.
VA may be following the Maryland model for voter fraud though; let the red counties come in first, then find whatever quantity of votes that you may need in the cities.
#an almost exaggerated politeness in the lines at the polls#
I always enjoy that.
If the yankee areas don’t go wild it might not be such a long night in Va after all. Looking good now.
Yeah, this is a nice map. Arlington and Alexandria are not in, but neither is Norfolk (military).
I just heard WMAL (conservative) call the race for Warner.
The Democrats in Northern Virginia hold their votes back until the end and put in as many as they need to get them over the top. Early reporting precincts are from the South and West.
1) John McCain and Sarah Palin - 364,667 52.62%
2) Barack Obama and Joe Biden - 300,032 43.29%

Noticed FOx News had VIrginia in red on big board in background for a second! Turned off when camera got it.
Yeah, I’m expecting Gilmore to get an abyssmal 30%, whatever he currently shows above that I subtract from McCain... it makes as much sense as anyone else’s system LOL!
With all the movement of our population I don’t trust looking at past results in areas.
Now, if only those yankee areas would show their hands...
1) John McCain and Sarah Palin - 439,069 53.58%
2) Barack Obama and Joe Biden - 356,287 43.48%
Precincts Reporting: 743 of 2,496 (29.76%)

2) Barack Obama and Joe Biden - 424,883 44.25%
Precincts Reporting: 842 of 2,496 (33.73%)
Should be an abyssmal 33%...
I don’t like what I’m seeing in the Henrico County results. Huge vote in black precincts, 887-34 Obama in one, and the GOP districts are only delivering 60%-65% for McCain.
New post, Prime Minister Obama.
Just look at these insane results:

You tell me the odds of 4 minor party candidates each getting over 8% of the vote all within a few dozen votes of each other?
The Chesapeake totals have magically changed. For a while they were showing 8% each for Barr, McKinney, Baldwin and Nader. Each had 3900 votes and some change.

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON????
Henrico’s changed a lot. Those Rep voters have moved to other parts of Va, but they still vote.
Conversely those new Henrico Dem voters are no longer voting in Richmond.
It is back to neck and neck by my system though!
Still doing well.... Better to be in the lead..
1) John McCain and Sarah Palin 658,082 52.54%
2) Barack Obama and Joe Biden 580,539 46.35%

Nope, looking at all the precinct totals in it doesn’t look good. I can’t believe SE is throwing a Vet overboard for a socialist ‘Rat.
Major SNAFU in Chesapeake. Paper ballots were getting wet from people dripping on them and the ink was running. The scanners didn’t know what to do with a runny ballot.
1) John McCain and Sarah Palin - 729,196 52.13%
2) Barack Obama and Joe Biden - 654,717 46.80%
