I’m going to repeat this a lot tonight.

1- It ain’t over til it’s over.
2- Even when it’s over, it ain’t over.
3- There will be lawsuits, I hope, due to ACORN and other voting irregularities. All we can hope for is Honest Judges.
4- We had to live through Jimmy Carter to get to Ronald Reagan, and we can live through 4 years of Barry Obama to get to the likes of Sarah Palin.
5- WE became too complacent and we didn’t start the VETTING process soon enough or with enough vigor. EVEN IF WE SOMEHOW PULL OUT A WIN THIS TIME, the Socialist-Marxists will STILL think they can overpower us in 4-more-years. If they win this time, the American Public will get so ticked off at Democrats that they won’t have a chance in the White House for at least another 16-20 years (the length of a person’s recall).
6- IF Barry Obama wins, we still hammer at our Congresspeople regularly and vigorously. We send emails, we send snail mails, we keep up with CSpan and everything going on in Congress. AND we watch what our various States are doing.
7- WE have got to stay political. It’s no longer just a game, it is Survival. We Can Live Through 4 Years Of Barry Obama.
8- No matter what he promised, he’s got nearly a Trillion Dollars in Bail Out on His Plate and he will ultimately be responsible for what happens with that, not George W Bush. And WE need to make sure, with letters to the editors, that the Public is made aware of just whose responsibility it is. And we also need to play “devil’s advocate” when he proclaims that he “can’t” do something he promised to do while running for President. WE need to remind the lemmings that Obama promised . . . and now he’s reneging. So what else did he LIE about?
9- WE have the advantage over an Obama Presidency. We know what’s going on and he is clueless. USE IT to our advantage. Inundate his office with letters and emails for every mistake he makes, for every misstep he makes. Call him on his errors and Quote History Books.
10- WE know how to use the Internet to our advantage! And we will do so. Maybe an Obama Presidency is just what WE need to shake us up and make us get serious about the USofA.

Now, lock and load and be vigilant. And don’t nobody try to take my State Retirement away from me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I blame this on George W Bush for what he did in 2000 to John McCain. He started the process that ended tonight. Or MAYBE ends tonight. McCain’s picking some Electoral Votes up and there’s a slim chance he can pull this thing out. Who said “We Get The Politicians We Deserve?”
McCain was simply running on a “Bob Dole” redux ticket. His only value to the election was that he *WASN’T* a socialist.
Which is exactly the same tack Bob Dole used when running against Bill Clinton... ie: “Vote for me, I’m not my opponent”.
It didn’t work then, and it doesn’t work now. Why he’d pursue a patently failed election policy is another matter. But then, his record proves that he finds government to be the solution... whereas conservatives find government to be the problem.
Oh, please.
McCain and Palin just climbed the biggest mountain ever put in front of a Republican candidate ever: a hugely unpopular Republican president, a Great Depression-like economic scare (ongoing), a "historic" opponent, the wrap-up years of a long and distant war, the list goes on.
Obama HID NOTHING about his Marxism. Anyone with a brain should and could have known everything they needed to know to choose between a Marxist and a Republican.
McCain was kicking butt until the October Surprise of the Crash of 2008 and the bailout. Had that not occurred just when it did, we'd be in a very different place tonight.
All the talk of if McCain had only done this and only done that is GARBAGE.
NOT A SINGLE AMERICAN HAS ANY EXCUSE FOR CHOOSING A MARXIST FOR PRESIDENT.
This one is on the American people, not John McCain, Sarah Palin or the RNC. The American people know what they are getting OR HAD EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW. Period.
P.S. As late as this week, there were freepers whining that they didn't know if they could bring themselves to vote for McCain---EVEN GIVEN ALL THEY KNOW ABOUT MARXIST OBAMA.
So don't put this on anyone but the American voter.
You calling me a Democrat? You’re f’ing crazy!
I am a true Republican - an Eisenhower/Goldwater/Reagan/Bush Sr republican - no I am not conservative to the point of having to pray prior to this election. So sue me. I respect you’re point, but taking the CHICKEN SH)T approach of whining and calling me a Dem is a total wimp move you POS!
You're wrong. Rush was trying to block Hilary who looked like a shoe-in and wanted Obama to get the nomination because he was "unelectable".
WTF are you talking about? Rush was telling Republicans to register as Dems and vote for Hillary, and that was supposed to help Obama? Yeah, right.
“she was the weight that ended up bringing down the Straight Talk Express. Now I am really pissed. So don’t go blaming us centrists.”
Don’t even go there. Centrist? What the hell is that? Nothing....stands for nothing, does nothing but straddles the fence.
Well, Mr. Centrist, welcome to the new USA. Your fence sitting, blaming garbage is sold to you. Oh, by the way, I don’t like independents either. No moral compass.
Like I said...SOLD TO YOU
Stop trying to blame real conservatives.
Not being one is exactly why McCain lost. Had he stood as one with the American people a few weeks back and opposed the bailout for rich investment bankers he could have gained 15 points easily.
Instead he fumbled around and then stood with Bush, the biggest spender and socialist since LBJ.
If you want to blame someone other than McCain, blame George Bush and the few remaining Republicans in congress.
Hopefully NOW we’ll see them all packing and we can start to renew the party with people who are different than the dems other than just the (R) by their name.
The Republicans that voted NO on the Goldman Sachs bonus bill would be a good place to look to for the future...
You are exactly right. McCain did not expose Obama's phony tax plan. Which is why McCain was at bottom of my list. Romney or Rudy are much better at talking economy, the #1 issue on voter's mind. McCain deserves to lose based on the inept campaign he ran. Don't blame it on Palin either. McCain talked more about earmarks which are insignificant dollar amounts.
Ha Ha, you’re funny. If you think a little harder, and are determined to assign blame, I’m sure you could do a much better, and more accurate, job. Try again.
You’re the one who blamed the conservative Palin for not being a centrist like you, right? hate to break the news to you, but wishing for Romney does not make you a ‘true’ Republican either. If you were really a ‘true’ republican, you wouldn’t be throwing Palin under the bus. Grow the hell up and run a check on yourself and what you believe.
Those that jumped on the Obama train and thsoe that tried to derail McCain after he became our nominee, may you and yours suffer worse than mine.
To those that stood tall and did everything you can to prevent this disaster, I am proud of you.
Stick a sock in it jrooney, if McCain loses, the fault is McCain's for trying to be a "Maverick" and reaching across the aisle and for being on the wrong side of Global Warming, the Socialist Bailout, Illegal Immigration, calling Bush's tax-cuts tax-cuts for the rich, Carbon Cap-and-Trade, etc.
Jerks like you is what is ruining the GOP.
well, you see, it's like this.....those fools who put pride over pragmatism, principle over getting dirty hands will always rationalize their political cowardice.
McCain? Conservative? nah, not really. Had the opponent been someone less toxic, a loss wouldn't hurt so bad. You play the hand you're dealt. So-called "conservatives" failed by not making sure the nominee was more like Reagan. Those who pitched a fit about McCain and tore him down, here and elsewhere, didn't put the bullet in the chamber of the Marxist enemy: they just helped cock the hammer. Rest assured the Marxist, should he be elected, will pull that trigger and fire that round into the heart of conservatism.
In a sense, you're correct. Those who felt McCain wasn't genuine enough did their part to elect an Obama. They were Lenin's 'useful idiots'.
Reagan once said something about not speaking ill of a fellow Republican. The "conservatives" who mouth Reagan and fail to walk the walk are brothers and sisters in arms with Obama. They just are too myopic and pigheaded to see it and/or admit it to themselves.
So we may have the beginnings of a new revolution on our hands in the near future. In the foxholes, I'd be careful whose screen names jump in with you and claim they're ready to fight for freedom. They may be friend or they may be Vichy.
RNC did little to nothing to help McCain because of their displeasure/hatred of McCain.
Even liberals noted this...some told me they thought McCain was throwing the election out of displeasure with the RNC! (Some attributed it to them "forcing Palin on him"...showing that they perceive the RNC as a lot more conservative than I do!)
Wills, Noonan, etc. and many here on FR tried to point this fact out and we were told to shut up if we won't get in line with the "party".
See my tagline. The ranks of the FR Ostrich Brigade are swollen.
The Republican party needs to return to its base ideology and run candidates that support that ideology if they are going to have any chance in 2012.
Agreed. But not that alone.
Obama is a snake oil salesman that should have been a walk over for the Republicans, but instead of supporting core conservative values McCain and company pandered to the issue of the moment and let the snake oil salesman out juke them at every turn.
Too many underestimated him, and McCain didn't strike back when he should have...and when he did, it came across as desperation.
Republicans got exactly what they deserved in this election. Ronald Reagan would be ashamed of what the party has become.
Yes, even viewing FR. The GOP stands for big government in simply a different flavor, and many FReepers have been cheering it along, trying to convince everyone that their arrogance was appropriate.
"I'm a Neocon...Yes! I am invincibul!"
Now, does the GOP learn, or continue as it did following 2006?
The waaaaambulance is going to be busy tonight.
McCain took my state even though I voted for Barr so I didn’t give Obama to anyone. Electoral College? Hear of it?
It’s not our fault that the Republican party has become a complete mess.
A lot of people here have been running around finger pointing and posting the most painfully ignorant predictions and “why the polls are wrong” essays.
And now you blame US?! Fine, if this is the end of my welcome to FR, so be it. Good luck winning back anything after you finish kicking out anyone who had the balls to face reality and call things as they were.
right....
it has nothing to do with the fact the Republicans squandered a fortune from 2000-2006....or the fact they sold out conservatives....or the fact they fight like little girls and let dirtbags like chris dodd and bawney frag blame the GOP for what essentially was the rat-wing induced mortgage crisis...
nah- it’s peggy noonan’s fault....gimme a break....
