Virginia and Florida Go Obama Landslide Continues...

Title says it all...this is brutal...beyond brutal. Starting to know what it felt like to be Carter in 1980.

Now for all those Republican dummies that kept telling us that McCain was right, and we are doing the right strategy. They all should be fired.

Unfortunately Obama will be the next president. The only silver lining is that the Democrats will be responsible for everything that happens on their watch. As a result, one of the following must occur:
  1. Life is grand as the Democrats don't screw too much up
  2. Democrat policies fail miserably and a new wave of conservatism emerges

While I'd actually prefer the former, I think the latter is much more probable.

Yeah. We are getting blitzkrieged.

Obama did prove history right though. No Democrat can win without carrying atleast a couple Southern states.

Not a landslide. The popular vote is going to be much closer than the polls predicted.

However, it is over. Obama will be president.

In my view, the Republican party has no one to blame but itself. They have left a legacy of me-tooism and fiscal incontinence. And it starts at the top.

Right, and the natural disadvantage was named Bush.

McCain had an opportunity to oppose the bailout, and to make 0bama the agent of Bush instead of the agent of change.

This ain’t over.

http://vote.sos.state.oh.us/pls/enrpublic/f?p=130:14:0

According to the official Ohio Secretary of State website — and Jennifer Brunner is a Democrat — 43.19% of all precincts have reported. That’s significantly less than half.

Obama ................. 49.79%

McCain ................ 48.56%

If McCain wins Ohio, he is definitely still alive. All the networks have already called Ohio for Obama, in much the same way they called the election for Kerry in 2004.

Thanks McLame....thanks GOP. God Bless Feeney

Ric Keller also lost his seat. The two Orlando area GOP House members both got trounced. Keller got routed by a ultra-lefty Dem who makes Obama look like Duncan Hunter

McCain reminded me so much of Dole all through the election.

I think the parallels are tremendous. Old Party guy, war veteran/hero who gets the chance to go out and try to win the presidency late in life.

Both Dole and McCain just had nothing that made you really want to vote for them. They were both uninspiring candidates. Good soldiers but no pizzaz

They control everything but will STILL blame the republicans. And the public will believe it all.

They wouldn't be able to pull it off. They will be in total control and the public will hold them accountable for both their successes and their failures. Thank God Mitch McConnell is still around. He is an unapologetic conservative and will be capable of leading a conservative (not merely Republican) revolution in two years.

Stick a fork in it...

Stick a fork in America. When a Third World Marxist with terrorist friends and a Muslim background can win those two states, then the dumbing down & demographic changes that began in the 60s have reached critical mass. America is no longer a true Western nation. As our colleague Wardaddy has said, our nation has been taken by people who could never have created it.

Parksstp - your country did not decide to spit on you. Americans of all stripes voted for O’Bomber tonight and in doing so spit on George Bush who managed the oval office like an imbecile. Us conservatives used to believe we should run government like we run our households - with sobriety. Bush went rampant, spent money like a teenager with a credit card, a lot on iraq, national healthcare, wealthy wallstreeters and the like. What’s there to like about that? He dicked us and lost the country for republicans. But don’t blame America for that.

In 2006 so many here said ignore the polls. In 2008, the same thing.

Seems to me, even if the polls were a bit exaggerated, they were right.

The GOP has a lot of pieces to pick up....again. Sometimes a cleansing is good.

If anything, it’s good to be the opposition party for awhile and let them take all the hits. The GOP will have it’s day again, but the GOP needs to run better candidates and have a consistent message.

This is not surprising.

The only problem is that there is no Ronald Reagan on the horizon right now as there was back then. I have hopes for Palin but I am just not convinced...yet. We must find someone with a take no prisoners approach who can also directly appeal to a broad spectrum of voters. Enough of this ‘reaching across the aisle’ crap that GWB and McCain are so fond of. Time to start looking for a kick ass and take names conservative to fight fire with fire, right now!

What a horrible, horrible event.

I don’t drink hardly ever, but if I were not taking antibiotics, tonight would be a time to do so.

I am living a nightmare.

One thing is for sure, I warned about believing all the good signs and knocking all the bad signs, such as EVERY POLL being wrong. Even TIPP had McCain losing, but we wanted to believe that not to be the case.

Who can blame us for doing so?

But, they were right. Obama won.

Contrary to all the PUMA talk, they didn’t show in enough numbers to win.

He ran a good campaign, and frankly a lot will say otherwise, but there isn’t much more McCain could have done to win. There just wasn’t.

History was against us big-time, and the voters were desperate for something different. They saw Obama as offering that, and Obama was able to craftily deflect socialism criticism etc. in such a way that many voters accepted it.

I do not want to hear “voters voted for socialism.”

They didn’t. They voted for something the majority believed would be different, bringing change.

Unfortunately, this time they didn’t really care about how liberal he was.
