WASHINGTON (AP) — Another state that hasn't voted for a Democrat for president in quite a while has done so this time.
The last time Indiana voted for a Democrat for president was when Lyndon Johnson was elected in 1964.

well if activists believed the polls, they would certainly not work to help McCain. It would be a self fulfilling prophecy. It is up to Mccain and his top guys to deal with the political reality.
That is a simple question to answer, and one I had posted a couple of months back when I said Obama stood a firm chance.
The reason is this: we at FR are a very homogenous set. Sure, we are from all sorts of geographic, ethnic, income and other backgrounds, but we share some very common denominators that have pulled us to this site. Anyone who belongs to a political site, be it Conservative, Liberal, or other, does so because they share certain aspects and attributes with other members of that site. Hence we are, essentially, a close-loop system. We see what we see because that is all that we see.
I remember bringing it up months back when someone mentioned that ALL HIS FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS were strongly pro-McCain, and he couldn't see where Obama's support could come from. That was easy to answer ....your friends and living area generally tends to reflect your own personal belief-sets. Thus, obviously, you are not going to come across a Chavez lover or a sheep-molester or any such type of outliers. I also used a simple example ...the Republican candidate nominations. Virtually no one on FreeRepublic supported McCain's candidacy during the primaries, but he still ended up winning. All 'our candidates' were taken out one by one, which indicated a simple thing ...we were not even in the mainstream of the GOP! If that was the case, then it was evident that we ran serious risks in a general election, if the candidates that best held our views couldn't be elected in our own party nominations.
Anyways, what's done is done. The steps forward are simple ...let this be the last election whereby we try and put forth the 'less of two evils.' Doing so will just lead to more defeat. We need to put forth strong conservatives who have the ability to make contact with the voting public (McCain could put a caffeine addict to sleep, let's be honest). Someone who has the vigor to stand up for what he/she believes in (e.g., not ignoring PERFECT target areas like Ayers and ACORN). Someone who does not pander to every available direction (e.g. the whole immigration amnesty mess, the financial bailout, etc).
That is the only thing that can help us going forward. PArticularly when it is obvoius that at best the country is split 50/50. People keep saying the US is a center-right country, however for the last several elections it seems that the margin squeeze is basically split across the middle (and with a slight shunt to the left).
Anyways, the only way to win is to stop electing RINOs and put real conservatives who can win. After all, why would a 29 year old vote for a RINO when they can get the real thing?

Indiana was a Republican stronghold from the Whitcomb Administration through Governor Robert D. Orr, may he rest in peace.
Another consideration is the huge influx of Hispanics into Indiana.

MAINLY MSM and SHEEPLE mixed w/corruption, fraud, and heavy kool-aid addiction. Plus - even though it’s been building over the last 4 elections - worldwide socialist influence and bribery.
And basically that's this election in a nutshell. A great apostasy of "moral values" voters who became more afraid of losing their money than losing their souls.
Please. We lost because Republicans stopped being worthy of the win. When you have to nominate an extremist like Palin to the ticket for “shoring up the base”, well, it shows how far we’ve drifted.
We’re conservative, but we’ve let people change what conservative really means. We’ve lost because we let it change in the name power with Reagan. Had we been just a little more patient, we’d have gotten power back with a landslide. Because we got greedy and desperate, we sold our souls to extremists and destroyed the party.
Palin was the only reason people voted for McCain.
I think part of it was the ground game on election day. I am willing to bet that 95% of Democrat homes in the state were visited and offered rides yesterday.
We bought our home from registered Democrats who didn’t update the voter rolls, and we had someone stop by twice to make sure they voted. They came to the door to ask specifically for them, not to simply make sure the adults in the home had already voted.
I think the big thing to work at is the ground game for 435 representatives and 100 senators. We need good strong candidates in every district, including RINO districts. Obama will overreach and if we let the anger motivate us to something useful, we can change face of the legislature in 2 years. This is not a time to retreat because the pendulum will definitely swing back.
I think a disgust with who is in office is the strongest motivator in politics. Bush had near universal scorn and Obama used it to rally the base and to pull in the undecided voters. Let’s return the favor in two years.
ACORN added enough voters to the roles to push Obama over, illegal early voting sites, large welfare crowd that wants their money from the bad rich people, a failed Bush second term, large amount of cash and time spent by the Dems.

One additional point: Indiana is touted as having one of the most stringent voter id laws, but it’s a joke.
We walk into the room and simply show id at the first table. Then we put our id away, walk to another part of the room, and sign the voter registration rolls. There seems to be no provision in the law that matches the id to the voter roll to the person actually voting.
No, Palin was the reason a lot of people voted for Obama. She was NOT the right choice for VP. She was supported by strong conservatives, but face it, most of Americans are NOT strong conservatives. I had the honor to talk for a while with Kay Bailey Hutchinson a few weeks ago. I told her that McCain made the wrong choice if he wanted a woman for his VP. She just said, “yeah, things happen”. I know several Dems and even a couple of Reps that were scared to death of Palin becoming President in the next couple of years. They told me they did not really like Obama and they would have voted for McCain if he would have had a more experienced VP pick.
I remained confident that the spread was only a few points. But coming into this past weekend, I was getting extremely nervous that it was still a couple of points. I knew Obama would take the popular vote, but I was still hopeful for an EV win.
Americans have a real logic deficit.
Indiana Freeper here. Karl Rove said it hours before the polls closed. Lake County would just hold their ballots and at the end put in enough for Obumscum to win. They did.
