It's time to face it America

Posted on 11/05/2008 4:40:17 AM PST by Scoville300k

The majority of Americans WANT Socialism. They don't know it's called Socialism. The majority of Americans don't even know what Socialism is.

To most Americans, "free" health care, "free" housing, "free" food, are wonderful things. To most Americans, it is a relief to give away the burden of these responsibilities to a government that will take care of them. It is just plain easier.

In another time, this was called "slavery." While once thought of as distasteful, it appears that it has come back into fashion. 60,000,000 American voters crawled into the voting booths, and volunteered to become wards of the State - the new "master." The liberal's dream of a nation of serfs, ruled over by the political elite, is one giant leap forward.

Of course, these same Americans have utterly no understanding that giving away these responsibilities also means giving away liberty. It's just so bothersome to think of. Besides, the next season of American Idol starts soon. Isn't it just so much nicer to sit and watch the funny people on the TV? Besides, all the talk about liberty just makes them sleepy.

Obama's agenda is 100% unstoppable. The majority party has but to point at any defiant senator and say, "racist". That, combined with the investigation of the MSM into the "racist" senator will cause immediate compliance.

No generation that lost their liberty - or in our case, gave it away - lived to see it again.

Hearing these impassioned statements from fellow Freepers gives me solace and a little courage in a time of great trial. It is good to know that one is not alone. Remember the words of Hirohito:

I am keenly aware of the feelings of my subjects, but in accordance to the dictates of fate, I am willing to endure the unendurable, tolerate the intolerable, for peace to last thousands of generations.

I think there is a high probability that the “fairness doctrine” won't make it past the supreme court. There's that pesky first amendment thing...

We’ve been at Socialism for some time. We’re now headed down the Marxist Fascist rabbit hole.

Don’t be such a baby! This is the only place for many to sound off and connect with like-minded folks.

Afterall, didn’t you just give us your “personal opinion”? If ever there was a time for someone to express their own personal feelings that time is now.

We are losing the war of ideas, big time.

The Democrat party is overrun with blatant Marxists, disaffected tax and spend liberals are crossing over and dominating the Republican party, we call them neo-cons.

With the fairness doctrine in place it will be even more of problem to overcome.

We need to go back and look at what was done in the aftermath of the Ford loss to Carter, that brought Reagan to power.

As I recall, Reagan was not all that popular in the beginning.

Sarah Palin is the subject of much PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome) already as the non-conservative elements in the Republican party try to eliminate her as a threat to “their guy”.

They are going to try to blmae her for this loss and not McCain’s Bob Dole-like “elder statesman” routine.

Thou shall not covet thy neighbors’ goods(wealth). I have been trying to get Christian leaders and activists to take up this cry. With no success. It’s easy to preach against abortion and homosexuality knowing that you won’t offend your constituents. It is a whole other matter to take a stand against government-mediated coveting. Nearly everyone is getting some kind of handout.
Other than Ron Paul is there one other Republican who does not pander to the covetous. Voters aren’t stupid (well actually they are, but). They went with the best offer. Ypu realy don’t need to know more than that.

When you have a job and you vote for “free” healthcare all you are doing is voting to pay for your own and somebody else’s too. Government doesn’t pay for anything. Only taxpayers.

Stupid, stupid people.

European and Canadian style socialism has a lot of appeal to folks. It is not until they have experienced it for a decade or so do the citizens come around to the realization that nothing is free.

For the conservatives we need to devote time to studying Europe and Canadian politics. We know that Canada is becoming more conservative, but they still have the socialism baggage weighing down their economy.

If we learn more about how to fight European and Canadian Socialism, then we can put up roadblocks in the next two years to stop passage of those things that are cast in concrete in Europe and Canada.

You may be right, but I'm not quite there yet. Let's be honest, who have we really had articulating our conservative message the last 20 years. Bush 1, Bob Dole, Bush 2, Bush 2 and now McCain...see a pattern?

W was not a conservative. He's a good man and we owe him a beck of a lot for keeping us safe here at home, but he was a disaster on the home front. He vetoed nothing when we had the house and the senate. Let's not even get into the inability to articulate a message, let's just say we didn't have too strong a “bully pulpit” these last 20 years.

We had a bunch of losers in the House and the Senate when we could have transformed the political landscape but instead spent like drunken sailors. Lesson 1...never try to outspend a liberal to curry favor with the electorate.

In addition, our side fell in love with being called Congressman so and so or Senator so and so. Getting all the right invites to the DC social scene, etc, etc. Many of them were just hacks and deserved to lose in 06 and 08.

We'll see what the big O will do, but the most immediate concern should be rebuilding the conservative movement...at all costs. Let the great purging begin and yes there should be litmus tests. You're either a conservative or your not. Lee Atwater opened this door of the “big tent”, it's time to close it.

Unforunately, I agree!!! I am retired but keep in touch with a colleague who is still working at the ole' company. He currently makes $200,000 and the company has a health care plan that he must pay 20% into. However, he sincerely believes that health care is a right and should be free. I asked him if he thought that he would still be making $200,000 if his health care were free and he said that he thought that he should. In his opinion, the company (or the rich) should pay for his health care. I simply think that his position on the issue could be summarize in the phrase, a willing suspension of common sense.

Additionally, I have coffee with two other retirees here in NYS once per week. They simply believe that the people on Wll Street make too much money (salary and bonuses). When I tell them that those salaries and bonuses are taxed at a very high rate (in both NYS and NYC) and that the state can't exist without that tax revenue they simply shrug and say that such income is unfair. Once again the phrase, a willing suspension of common sense applies.

Blacks demand reparations. I agree. They're the only immigrant group to get free passage to America, as well as free room and board the first 250 years America was settled. That there was dehumanizing and degrading slavery is beside the point. Do you really think any AFrican-Americans want to go back to Africa?

It's time for them to pay up for letting them live in the land of the free.

Go give the churches property to the homeless. The homeless need it more than the church does. That's the position of Obama supporters.

You neighbor has more than you? Go help your self - it isn't fair they have more so taking it is economic justice - just ask them.
