Freedom Now Stands Alone
The Spectator ^ | 5 Nov 08 | Melanie Phillips

So the answer to my question turned out to be yes, America really was going to do this. A historic moment indeed. The hyperbole for once is not exaggerated: this is a watershed election which changes the fate of the world. The fear however is that the world now becomes very much less safe for all of us as a result. Those of us who have looked on appalled during this most frightening of presidential elections – at the suspension of reason and its replacement by thuggery -- can only hope that the way this man governs will be very different from the profile provided by his influences, associations and record to date. It’s a faint hope – the enemies of America, freedom and the west will certainly be rejoicing today.

America has voted for change, apparently. Change from what, precisely? From Bush? But in the second term, Bush stopped being Bush. His foreign policy lurched from paralysis to appeasement (redeemed only by the strategic genius of Gen Petraeus – and what price Petraeus now?) As Frank Gaffney wrote in the Washington Times yesterday, Bush’s Treasury is about to open the way for sharia law to be imposed upon America’s banking system. And it was a Democrat-controlled Congress that helped provoke the sub-prime lending crisis that triggered the current financial meltdown.

I don’t think the element that voted Obama in actually understand what freedom is in the first place.

We can forget about the facts of this fraud and disaster from the Democrats coming out. The media will ignore it and hide it. The Democrat leadership in congress will not allow it to be revealed in hearings of any kind. The blame will sit on Bush and the Republican's heads forever.

Freedom is the price America paid for it's hatred of Bush.

Just look at the comments beneath the article. Truly, humanity is lost. We cannot rely upon human beings to be decent anymore. Evil has run completely roughshod over the Earth and throughout this continent.

Big Brother will be watching our every step and the Messiah’s “Gestapo” will be threatening anyone trying to expose the truth. Welcome to Socialism or the rebirth of Nazi Germany. The change that’s coming won’t be what these mindless Liberals wanted. Even the media will be shocked at their new leash! I knew the night that Carter was elected that we were headed down the toilet bowl. This time it’s much worse and far more dangerous. The shock of 9/11 will be nothing compared to what these human waste have in store for America. The word insidious is tame.

The failure of the Republicans this year is due, in large part, to nominating someone who, in the grand tradition of every Republican nominee since Ronald Reagan, has almost no command of the bully pulpit. John McCain is an extraordinarily honorable man who does not deserve most of the attacks he has received from either the left or the right. But his inability to articulate Reaganesque conservative principles is matched only by George W. Bush, who, despite a few exceptional moments, is less charismatic in his public speaking than even Harry Reid. (And believe me, I also like George Bush and believe that history will treat him far better than current so-called approval ratings might suggest.)

For McCain though, his difficulty in expressing those ideas is based partly in the fact that he is uncomfortable with much of the Reagan agenda (self-proclaimed ‘foot-soldier’ or not.) Against an opponent who has a clear record of far-left positions, McCain was not a good choice because he really is a middle-of-the-road guy in most areas. Melanie Phillips is right, “...why vote for a muddled and erratic quasi-’progressive’ when the real thing is a rock star? It cannot be said too emphatically — the Republicans lost this election.”

Republican candidates should not make opposing a Republican administration a virtue. Believe it or not, the adversary is the Democrats, and they should be made to feel that they are the adversary, intensely.

Carter was a naive fool - he still is.

Obama and his familiars are accomplished and shrewd political operatives and radical social engineers. America has NEVER been in the dangeer it now finds itself.

And the scariest thing is that he hs no effective political opposition.

Time to set up permanent camp in some select state such as SC. Keep it static, red and show the US how conservatives can be different. http://christianexodus.org/

The election is over and we lost. Before he won the nomination, did any self-respecting conservative like John McCain? Of course not. We rallied around him because he wasn’t as bad as Barack Obama.

Now we have Pres-Elect Barack Obama and Amerca and Freedom’s enemies are rejoicing. They have good reason to rejoice because history is not on the side of freedon, it’s on the side of tyranny. If you want evidence, look at Africa today.

The people who elected Barack Obama did so because they wanted a demigod to believe in. Once the cheering and thisle-down thuggery is over, the world will move on.

It was a very historic election. I though with the declining white population that 2016 would be the time when conservatives would recede to the backwaters never to govern again. Hey, it happened eight years sooner.

So, today we should start preparing for ways to keep the money we earn and try to find interesting ways to lie on our tax returns.

Another very strong recommendation is to buy five or six guns and lots of ammo. The reason for five is you can hide two of them and when the gun grabbers confiscate your guns you can let them have three and keep two hidden.

As for taxes, don’t worry. Increases will be incremental. You won’t really feel the pinch until 2020.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention crime. It’s leniency for the criminal again just like the 1970’s where hardened murderers were released to re-murder.

Wait, I must have something positive to say, right?

I don’t, if you hate America and freedom you’re loving what I’m saying right now.
