Obama won for three simple reason:
1) Momentum - This was a turn the page election, like Carter to Reagan. None of the other R candidates would have done much better, and maybe worse.
2) Money - $1B on BO says it all. With that kind of money you could elect a ham sandwich, especially if you unilaterally disarm a la McCain-Feingold.
3) Media - a legion of evidence to support this as you know. One example for now: vicious attacks/investigations on Palin vs. a complete pass for BO and JB. Oh, for bonus points: they helped Manufacture an "economic crisis" to lay down the predicate for BO to come in for the rescue.
(5) McCain
He didn’t give a rat’s ass what the base thought prior to the election and them tried to court their favor at the eleventh hour.
My feeling is that his candidacy was a media set-up from the beginning. The design was to assist Hillary...but then Obama moved to the forefront which was all the better as far as they were concerned.
agreed I have never seen so many AD’s on radio, TV papers etc
the republican party had better get their act together and grouping right now for the race in 4 years
we first have to find out where the money came from, we have to find out how they did their pre paid credit cards and we have to find a good nominee plus I hate to say this
but if we do not reach out to other than white voters we are doomed.
Whites are fading away in this country and Hispanics are growing
we have to take this initiative before the Dems and do something for the Hispanic vote
we get hispanics on our side then we take FL,CA,NM,AZ and possibly get back VA,NC,CO.
how we do this I do not know as I do not want illegal immigration but we have to find a way and get this sorted for the 4 years.
We can not allow obama to have all this money in 4 years time again as we’ll never stop him
everything this man does now should be scrutinised by us, tell our friends and family, work associates etc.
if obama attacks somewhere then we say to others thought we were supposed to be having change
if the economy gets worse say thanks obama is this the change he wanted
the libs have been doing it for years it is now our time to battle them and attack them on everything instead of this reaching out crap
Yeah, but remember he only got 52% of the vote and 40% don’t pay taxes. Guess those Hollyweird yahoos were the 12% of taxpayers that elected Dumbo for us.
“BOYCOTT ALL MEDIA THAT HAS BEEN COMPLICIT TO THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN DURING THIS ELECTION!”
Yes.
it’s ironic McCain ended up losing partially because of a bill he authored lol
Totally agree with you. There were many reasons he won, but by far those are the top 3.
The fourth “M” was McCain.
Being black...haha...add that one in, too. I’m sure that counts for atleast 3 million voter whom probably didn’t know anything about his policy. Votes against him for that were neligible.
Look for Opra to run next. She has her own billion and I guess that is how much it takes to buy the presidency.
we have to fight every day to find out about his money and stop it happening again
if we do not then obama will do all this again and blitz the country
the money and illegals pre paid cards have to be stopped right now
why isn’t Bush getting the feds involved in this?
most of the country hates him anyway so just go right ahead and investigate the source of money
if the people find out the money came from Soros in illegal ways and find out about over seas money then some will be disgusted.
the money was the key factor closely followed by the disgusting way of the media
I don’t buy the momentum argument. Preliminary totals show the Democrats picking up 3,655,000 votes while the Republicans lost 6,497,000. That’s NOT momentum. The GOP never presented a ticket (policies someone could vote for). And, BTW, totals show 2,842,000 FEWER votes cast this year than 2004.
I suspect what happened is that McCain did not win over Independents. They saw him as aged, part of the ‘inside-the-beltway’ crowd, and presenting no agenda that voters could rally around. Thus, a goodly number stayed home.
Palin rallied the GOP base, but they turned out to vote for her and against Obama; there was no incentive to vote FOR McCain. He was the lesser of two evils.
As for the money part, sure Obama won handily, but when broken down by vote, this expensive election cost him far more per voter than the 2004 election did. What would you as a CEO do with that knowledge once the results were in?
The media is and always will be anti-GOP. That’s a given and not a noticeable phenomena. In fact, this year it may have cost them dearly because of their blatant bias being so obvious. Time will tell, but I believe they hurt themselves greatly.
Gubmint cheese makes an awesome grilled cheese sandwich. Who wouldn’t trade freedom and prosperity for a grilled cheese sandwich?
this is why reaching across the aisle does not work
the Dems laugh at our RINO’s
stop obama’s money and make it known where it came form then he doesn’t win again
if we just sit on our arses and do nothing then this will happen again
It’s really hard for the party in power to stay in power after a two term president. Just look at history. So any candidate would have been at a disadvantage. We’d need someone with a lot more charisma than McCain.
I’d add Message to that. It’s not that Obama’s message said a lot, but it was what the people wanted to hear: change. No taxes for the little guy. Sock it to “them” We’ll help make your life better.
All piecrust promises with little substance, but when you’re dealing with masses of people, you don’t need it. All you need is to strike the right note. And he did.
Just be a nice guy and everyone will play your game. </sarcasm>

They were NOT elected because they were “moderate” Republicans or “bipartisan”. They were elected because their democratic opponents were totally unacceptable far-left choices.
The lesson that should have been learned is that of Ronald Reagan. Give us a true conservative as a candidate and ALL of America will vote for him/her.
McCain was a hero and a decent human being but he wasn't a conservative!
That is the way McCain plays it. If I follow the rules, then the Dems will play by the rules.
What a load of maccaca!
