I'm an American. Country first. Remember?
The country has turned its back on its ideals and its military sacrifices. IMHO, it is no longer worthy of people’s service.
The “Republic Of Texas” has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
I’m willing to take it under consideration!!
guess I’m moving to texas.
>>No thanks.
I’m an American. Country first. Remember?<<
And, pray tell, what country is that, the Socialist Republic of 0bamaistan?
Your country died last night.
I’m in. TEXAS will secure its borders from invasion and protect its citizens.
...people are just venting...I hope.
Because a Republican win wouldn't result in their enslavement? Just one answer of many. Yes, it is different. Buttock 0bama means to destroy the fundamental traditional values of this country, AND MY FAMILY.
I’ve pondered the thought. The establishment of his national security force would send me over the edge along with the trashing of the 2nd Amend.
TX native living in CA now.
I have been considering this for a long time.
I love America and the Constitution, but the Federal Government has overreach and violated it’s authority. It will only get worse now.
We as a people have every right to seperate from the union.
It is supposed to be “State first”. America is supposed to be a Union of inependent states.
I say we just peel the country like an orange. Peel off the blue states and leave the REAL America. That’s where the real ‘meat’ is.
Texas ping.
How about “education reform”, ie, banning homeschooling.
I don’t think so. Secession has actually been talked about in Texas for many years and it’s slowly been gaining support.
This may be what it takes to kickstart the movement. I guarantee you that within 36 months Obama will sign an actual gun ban, and that within 12 months he will sign the Super Brady Bill currently in Congress.
“The Republic Of Texas has a nice ring to it, doesnt it?”
I’d say!
Either that or they're a bunch of drama queens.
Our country will still be here tomorrow, the next day, and the next year. We might have some setbacks, but we're still the United States of America.
I keep thinking of Castro...and the Cubans in Florida who are “Cubans First” but can’t go home.
Texas was a “Country First”. Before it was a state. Glad I could clear that up.
Can we build the wall?
This is alot different than Baldwin and Sarandon.
The US Government has violated its authority. Look at how they over-tax us and give the money to others.
That was NOT the design of the Federal Govt. It has gotten out of control, and we have every right to seperate.
Where would you go? Start your own country or join Mexico?
Amen.
My oath was to support and defend the Constitution. Ushering in a new era of Socialism is no part of that.
There is now one too many flags in that picture.
I’m all in
I think this question was pretty well settled in 1865.
I’m in.
We are supposed to be a Union of States, not a large hemogenous country that we are becoming.
Good luck.
I am with you!!!
Tax rates were much, much higher until Reagan got into office. We weren't the United States of America back then?
That would certainly be up there as a former homeschooler. It’s just I haven’t heard that mentioned quite as much although that has to be in his vision to remake the country. I’m guessing he’ll move to disarm and subdue before the reeducation begins.
AHHHH HA HA HA HA HAAaaaaa
Amen, Brotha.
Mmmm... not so much. All it settled was whether a Federal government acting illegally could hold states in the Union by force, and of course the answer was “yes”.
Thing is, this time around, the North doesn’t have the industry or the military resources. All of the productive industry is in the South. So are the major remaining military bases.
Well, Okies don’t usually agree with Texans...but here in this state succeeding from the union has been discussed for the past week. It’s amazing how many people feel this way. Once Obama starts putting into place his socialistic policies, I honestly would not be surprised if their is serious discussions on this subject. As for “country first.” If Obama gets his way our country will no longer be the America we know and love.
Texas is my country. Appears most of the rest have abandoned it.
Yes, I know that. It’s why we can fly our flag the way we do. :)
Whatever, this is a ridiculous pipe dream.
I am in. Get the ball rolling and I will be glad to move back to Texas to lend a hand.
We have to elect state legislators who will vote for secession. It’s the first thing voted on every session. We need to quit doing it as tradition and really do it.
I was all for this in 2000 but it didn’t get much traction. I wrote my state rep and didn’t get a reply.
A friend and I were talking about this Monday night—she did her thesis on it.
I totally agree. I think other southern states will join as well.
We can have a new Confederacy of freedom loving states. I would say a good poriton of the US Military is from the South and would not turn on their families.
That is why I am recommending the Guard to any young person who is considering military service. Support the state militias. They may be our saving grace from the Fed.
Nothing was settled...
Yeah, that didn't work out too well...
There's often some chatter that Texas can legally secede but I've never found any language, anywhere, that supports that. Parenthetically there is a great thread from 2001 on secession here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3b75d2fa71a5.htm
I might also add that the prospect of Texas being able to split into multiple states seems to be a canard as well.
