Vanity: Women elect Barack Obama
vanity | November 5, 2008 | me

According to the exit polls at http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/president/, Obama and McCain were almost tied in the men's vote, 49% to 48%, but women voted for Obama by 56% to 43%.

I have occasionally discussed politics with women and usually found it frustrating. They think in a very different manner than I do. I am trying to phrase this in a neutral manner.

Suggestions on how to reclaim womens' votes are welcome. Although some women vote Republican, I think their overall support for the Democratic candidate is worth discussing, since the 19th Amendment is not going to be repealed.

I have some very unpopular theories on the effect women's emancipation has had on the political direction in this country.

Not relating to anyone here, of course.

What’s really telling is the difference between married women and single women... single women go for Dems HUGE HUGE HUGE... they’re looking for govt to be the surrogate husband/dad.

Hey guys...look at the percentage of white MALE union members who voted for him. They went overwhelmingly for Obama. Don’t try to blame it on women.

Could be the Oprahfication of the American female.

BTW, I am a Sarah-loving lioness. I know too many other women like me to give much credence to those statistics, unless they’re including the she-men of the Bay Area.

And don’t even get me started on the idea that womens’ emancipation started this. Big O was a hardcore misogynist throughout the entire campaign.

Ann Coulter once said that if the 19th Amendment were repealed the Democrats would never win another national election again.

Liberalism is "warm and fuzzy". A lot of women are attracted to that.

My wife is great. She came from a Dem family...and she ended up being a true Republican all the way.

Why not share? The Dems trend towards couching their policies in emotional terms. Many women are suckers for it.

I’m not PC. Suspend the 19th amendment. The Founders didn’t give females the vote for good reason. Liberal females vote for daddy government so they can sit around on their fat butts, drink beer, watch soap operas and demand someone else pick up the tab for their idiot commie kids.

They might be put off by some people’s attitudes about women’s intelligence or political acumen. Or by the assumption that they all think in the same way—like women. What does that even mean? Seems like the party has a lot to figure out between now and 2012.

Well she hasn’t gotten divorced, had an abortion, sued an employer for harassment, the list goes on and on.

Oh yeah shame on her for having 5 wonderful children and holding a very stressful full-time job!

For me I still can’t figure out why women voted Bill Clinton in...now it is all over again.
