CNSNews.com) - In a Nov. 5 letter to his colleagues, Rep. John Boehner (Ohio) announced he wants to continue as Republican Leader in the 111th Congress, and he asked his fellow Republicans to support him in that effort.

After a tough election, Boehner said Democrats want Republicans to surrender --

After a tough election, Boehner said Democrats want Republicans to surrender

I think after the enemy has slaughtered all of you and occupied your lands, "surrender" doesn't really describe your options...
Quit Boehner, you already got your pension and demonstrated a perfect game plan for Democrat superiority. Do us some good: Go home and start praying that God miraculously inserts some conservatives into the RNC and one of them doesn't land on top of you.

Representative Boehner IS an honorable man and a solid conservative. He has made one mistake that I have seen, and this backing the travesty finance bill. Big issue, but with a ton of company - including folks you probably voted for anyway. He recently called Obama’s present votes “chicken sh!t”. And Free Republic is being overrun by a bunch of folks who will eat their own right now. Cut it out! Boehner stays. Don’t let Pelousi get any more satisfaction than she already has. Boehner is not a RINO and the name is pronounced BAYNOR not BONER for those in Rio Linda.

Actually I voted for Pence since he is my rep.

I could live with an actual conservative, but boehner isn’t as good as we could have..

He was terrible on the bailout, and really we could just do better, not that Boehner is terrible (on most issues), but he’s “no Ronald Reagan”!

Although I won't attribute this year's electoral disaster directly to Boehner, I do think the GOP should clean House -- and Senate -- and get a fresh, youthful, and more conservative, start with respect to the (sadly) minority leadership in both chambers.

With President Bush's retirement, and Liddy Dole's defeat in the Senate, we end 54 straight years with a Bush and/or a Dole in Congress. Take that milestone as an opportunity to look to the future.

No. But he doesn’t deserve the disparaging comments on this thread. I can respect your choice. You know Pence. I know Boehner. He is a SW Ohio boy where I am from and most issues he is wonderful on. If it weren’t for the bailout, I would probably give him an A- as a matter of fact. The bailout was a big mistake, but he isn’t the only guy who made it. He’s a good man facing a really ugly opposition. He doesn’t need it from us.

Boehner has held the line while the press even ignored Pelosi’s shutting off the microphones and lights in the House, ending a long tradition of allowing members to give speeches after the day’s end.

Leo Amery, quoting Cromwell from three centuries earlier, said it well to Neville Chamberlain in the House of Commons in the 1940 debate over the Nazi invasion of Norway:

"You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!"

Someone needs to step up, and play Amery's role in a heart-to-heart with Boehner.

Boehner’s got to go. What we need now is a viscous, hard-line conservative street fighter who will inspire terror in the Dems & RINO’s. No more “compassionate conservatives” who want to reach across the aisle. Any RINO trying to reach across the aisle should be worried he might get his hand cut off! No more compromise. No more supporting phony conservatives. No more Mr. Nice Guy.

My vote is for Michelle Bachmann! Time for a cat-fight!

Speaking of the RNC, how is it that anyone there still has a job? 2012 doesn't exist, but 2010 does and it's two days closer already. Get rid of the RINOs and the rest of the losers there and bring in real conservative leadership who can work as a team with the likes of Palin, Jindal and Pence.

Back in 2006, Mike Pence received 26 votes against Rep. Boehner. At the time, it indicated that the GOP simply didn’t get it. The GOP minority had a choice between an actual conservative and corrupt, inept, and useless GOP politics as usual.

I still don’t think that the GOP gets it. And I suspect that this loser will again become the leader of the decreasing GOP minority in the House. Another of my 101+ reasons for saying that conservatives would be better off with a 3rd party.

“Representative Boehner IS an honorable man and a solid conservative.”

He might be an honorable man. That’s nice. He might even be a private conservative. That’s also nice.

The GOP, if it wishes to survive, needs people with the fire in their belly who aren’t going to refer to the opposition as “their friends”. The GOP needs gladiators, not vestal virgins. Personally, I don’t think the GOP will change leadership. And will again set themselves up for further defeats.

The GOP is truly the Whig party of the 21st century.

Boehner isn’t a private conservative. He votes the way he speaks & with that one notable exception votes the way he should.

There are several folks in the house that would probably fit the bill. Thaddeus McCotter would probably be a good leader. But John Boehner has served well, and doesn’t deserve to be thrown under the bus like is happening on this thread.

Look, Boehner is an honorable man and a solid conservative, but it is time for new leadership. We don’t need to ‘trash’ the man, but we should do our best to encourage new leadership. Mike Pence has shown that he is ready for the job and that he is ready to fight Nazi Pelosi.

Thanks for the heads up on this.

Absolutely throw him out. When knowingly facing a Democratic national campaign, his response was “every man for himself”. No national effort for a national election? What an ****ole. Throw him out.

When faced with an organized National Campaign effort by the Democrats, Boehner’s decision was “every man for himself.” Hardly a briliant decision. New blood is needed. Pelosi and her ilk know he is now weak, and they’ll dance about him like Indians around a disarmed cowboy.

Boehner wimped out on the bailout big time. He started off OK, and then he was scared sh@tless by something or someone.

His time has passed. We need someone with stones to lead the minority.

I’m afraid the GOP will become too comfortable as the minority party. We need a fighter or it is game over.
