The search for someone to blame for John McCain's defeat was well under way yesterday. Many fingers, not surprisingly, were pointed at Sarah Palin.
Actually, the Palin scapegoating began before the polls even opened, with top McCain staffers complaining that the Alaska governor was a "diva" given to straying "off message."
Nonsense.
True, she turned out not to be the magic bullet Republicans had hoped for.
Then again, John McCain turned out not to be the asset Republicans had hoped for. Terming his performance - and that of the campaign itself - lackluster sort of understates the case.

The RINOs that infested the McCain Campaign know very well that people weren’t voting for McCain, but voting for Palin. They resent this. And since they can’t look at themselves in the mirror and admit their failures, they are looking for a convenient scapegoat.
He would not have had my vote!

McCain wasn’t the standard bearer that conservatives wanted. My opinion is that if Gov. Palin was at the top of the ticket all along things would be a helluva lot different today.

These two sentences are really stupid. The article reads like another hit on Palin meant to look otherwise.

So true, I would not have been able to vote for him, if not for her. Maybe she’ll run in 2012, if the country is still having elections then..
And John McCain is not the magic six-shooter he advertised himself to be. Without Sarah Palin, Mccain loses by 15-20%.
Even worse, now he gets to go back to the Senate and come up with more crap legislation when he reaches across the aisle to all his friends in the Democrat party.
Too bad he doesn't consider conservatives to be part of his base.
Steve Doocey on “Fox & Friends” just hit the nail on the head.
He suggested that the Republicans who don’t like Palin are “kneecapping” her to stop her before she becomes the front runner for 2012.
The McCain staffers who are spreading this garbage about Sarah Palin deserve to be out of work. Imagine what the White House would have been like with these slimeballs there?
If a former McCain staffer applies for a job with me, he/she will be summarily rejected.

I don’t know why you had to drag a fine woman like Sarah Palin into this mess but, maybe she can shed you and your ilk for a run in 2012.

McCain needs to be put out to a pasture, (preferably an illegal immigrant pasture) given flatulence pills so as not to harm his environment, given a few Democrat Party buds to slobber over and forgotten about.
She’s probably the only one who did bring them in (well, with the exception of the guilt-ridden whites). If the McCain campaign had not been so easily intimidated by its RINO contingent and the leftist commentators and had actually let Palin get out there some time before the last two weeks of the campaign, things might be different today. She was very good at building support outside of the GOP voter base because she gave a firm, positive message that was attractive to non-political type folks.
She graciously bit her tongue when interviewers asked her if she differed on issues with Sen. McCain. Now she can tell the country who she really is.
Unfortunately I believe for the short term she will be polarizing because of the terrible way she was portrayed by the media and the faux conservative talking heads.
She has a bright future in the preservation of conservatism, but she needs to define herself; something the McAmnesty campaign did not allow. After the way she was treated by the press, her own party and now by the idiots in her own campaign; she may not desire to venture out of Alaska.
Why would anyone want to allow their family to be ravaged by these animals again? For most conservatives, our family and faith are our cornerstones of strength and joy; to watch both attacked and ridiculed must be quite discouraging. But I have a feeling that her and her family are of the type that can take the abuse; time will tell.

She WAS the magic bullet, but meek, humble, inoffensive, bi-partisan John McCain was the anti-magic bullet and they canceled each other.
Also, John, trying to help out the illegals really got you traction with the Hispanics, eh? Stabbed in the back again? You must have to buy a lot of new suit coats.
Correction: the RINOs that infest the Republican Party ensured McCain’s defeat. Without Palin the GOP ticket would have been disemboweled. We Conservatives need to get busy at the grassroots level and make the GOP the party of Reagan once again. The RINO ‘we suck less’ mentality will doom the GOP to wander in the wilderness. Nobody is buying the ‘Democrat Lite’ cr@p anymore. This election should drive the point home.
