I knew this country was in trouble after McCain won the California primary , but I also had great hopes after Republicans got control of the congress under Clinton. They kept the promises of their contract then dropped the ball and went back to pork as usual. Why not a new contract that fixes the problem at its source: federal spending?
Imagine Republicans getting together at all levels, state and federal, and hammering out a proposed constitutional amendment which freezes the budget until it is balanced then keeps the budget frozen until income tax can be limited forevermore to some fixed amount? (I like 0 % myself, which it was for the first century ) Imagine putting that and other fiscal restrictions and so on in writing (unfounded mandates comes to mind).All these would be office holders then sign it, pledging that if elected this is what they would enact . I think it would become a huge rallying force that would not only throw the RATS out but make it much harder for them to buy the votes of our enemies in the future. (Should, heaven forbid!, they ever get power again.)
Other changes could be debated too but get it all out there in writing so it becomes a national referendum. The great thing about this is a president can do squat about it. Such things are within the power of Congress and the State houses alone. It would not only get control of the House but eventually the Senate if the RATS kept fighting it, and I have no doubt they would do so.

Here’s why: Because the corporation issuing the contract is bankrupt. No one will sign a contract from the GOP. It’s not even a national party anymore.
A suggestion I had 1.5 years ago. The candidates we are fielding simply do not possess the focus, command of issue, and articulation that Reagan & Newt have.
They fell for that crap put out by the DEMOCRATS that noone liked the FIRST CONTRACT......HOOEY! It gained the Republicans 54 seats!! The MSM and the DEMS HAD to make sure THAT NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN!
Another Contract with America would be a nice publicity stunt, but the GOP would never follow through with it.

Considering he worked on the first one, and the incredible successes resulting from that, you'd think he might have a clue. But he didn't, and we went into the elections facing a National Democratic Campaign like a Junior Varsity 3rd Stringer QB against the Dallas Cowboys. Stupid ****.
We need both. But you’ve got to have the leadership first.
I think we need to follow Rush’s lead on this subject. I listened to him yesterday and I think he’s spot on. I also think his instincts have been right on the whole way. He warned of McCain and the rest of the RINO’s that put him in position to win the nomination from the beginning. There needs to be a state by state, district by district effort in targeting all moderates of the party and replacing them with conservative candidates. Rush said yesterday that the strategy will take some time to develop, but he’ll begin naming names in the process, i.e. targets. My thoughts.

Need someone like Newt who can articulate conservatism. Don’t see anyone like that.
Calculus is over 300 years old. It may be "mathamatics of the past" but it still works.
constitution doesn’t say anything about a balanced budget or what the tax system should look like
