On the morning after Tuesday's historic election, two political heavyweights in Pennsylvania politics offered their take -- each from his own party's perspective.

Senior senator Arlen Specter (R-Pa., top right) and governor Ed Rendell (D, bottom right) appeared before the Committee of 70's post-election breakfast to offer commentary on the presidential election.

Specter conceded that Republican John McCain's White House bid was hampered by the economy and an unpopular president.

He says president-elect Barack Obama is likely to reach across the aisle when he actually begins to govern:

Actually, the answer is for Pennsylvania to force Philth-adelphia to secede to New Jersey.

After being call called racist and rednecks by lardass Murtha, and bitter clingers by “the One”, the populace of Pennsylvania who elected both these clowns is deserving of what they get.

Arlen Specter was asked to comment on the future of the Republican Party? How would he know? He ceased to be a Republican decades ago.

Wasn't he actually a registered Democrat prior to 1964?

I’ve never considered myself a feminist. I shave my legs and pits and enjoy it when a door is opened for me and say thanks with a big smile. Never been one to go around screaming things are unfair for women but the way she was treated was atrocious.

Palin’s not the future of the party? Specter sure as he** isn’t the future of the party. Time for him to go to Jurassic Park.

Close, but not so. Bush had a chance to support Pat Toomey over Specter in the 2004 primaries but swooped in at the last minute to push Specter over the top.

Santorum was not up for election that cycle.

Specter hasn’t been a Republican in years—he gives RINO as bad meaning. Rendell is now going to assume he runs the GOP? Sarah must really have them scared!!!!

Guess they worry about how bad their socialist leader will look to American voters when he finally is seen without media hiding his faults.

Hell, we had a conservative in the 2006 primary and both Bush and Santorum campaigned for Specter! That’s the reason Santorum lost...and deservedly so. Of course Bushs RINO credentials for 8 years cost republicans a hell of a lot more than 1 senate seat. It’s time we support/donate to conservative candidates and NOT the party.

This shows he's either demented or an idiot....

No he is right on. Barack Obama WILL reach across the aisle to S.p.e.c.t.r.e. in order to break Republican filibusters. Don't worry though, S.p.e.c.t.r.e. will only cross over with McCain, and a couple others to stab conservatives in the eye on really important issues like immigration and socialized health care.

“Honestly if either Arlen Specter or Ed Rendell came out and said she was the future of the party I would immediately tell everyone to forget about her.”

That’s using wisdom, and I agree :)

The Fairness Doctrine compares to the Nazi book-burning of May 10, 1933.

Will Senator Arlen Specter support the Fairness Doctrine.

The issue is first and foremost--it is the First Amendment.

It is what John McCain crapped on to be absolved of Charles Keating's tarnish.

It is what John McCain threw under the bus to make nice with the across-the-aisle book-burners.

It is what New Tone Bush signed for God knows what rationalization.

The Fairness Doctrine will sort them out nicely.

Up with Sarah; Down with Specter.

A Clear and Present Danger.

A Time for Choosing.
