I know this is a vanity post. But I wonder if fellow freepers can help me make a decision. I traditionally buy a new firearm after a democrat victory. In the past I have bought hunting rifles and revolvers. Now I feel the need to purchase a different type of firearm and I covet freeper input. My guidelines are as follows. 1. caliber .223-.260 2. must be semiautomatic. 3. Must be able to defend against groups of foraging liberals, desperate for a handout. 4. Must be able to handle attacks from drug-crazed intercity refugees. 5. Ammo must be easily procured by bartering with silver and gold coins. thank you for any input!
All of them.
Easy: AR-15. Get them while you can.
A handgun with silencer.
Ditto. And plenty of ammo before The One requires microstamping and new ammo taxes.
He intends to regulate 2A into oblivion.
Wondering too. Same here about buying after a RAT victory.
Sun. Bro-in-law and I are going to a show to get our CCW permit and to stock up. I just need ammo, but he wants to buy something compact. My Makarov (looks like a PPK) is pretty small.
LOL
SKS
Compact.
Accurate.
Cheap.
Trouble-free.
Lots of cheap ammo.
Target shoot to your heart’s content.
Rapid-fire - as fast as you can pull the trigger.
Colt AR-15...and a truckload of .223!
Load it with .38’s to teach the little lady how to shoot it.
Easy to learn. Easy to use.
The K.I.S.S. principle is fundamental to home defense.
Worst case scenario, (I don’t think we’ll get there.. but just in case), I would go with something that uses the 5.56x45mm NATO. This way, if manufacturing of ammunition in the US is cut off, it is a standard & common size made around the world. It is also a good round for reloads.
Get something concealable.
Mossberg 500 12Ga. comes with pistol grip in the box. Rugged Mil-spec.
.45 acp handgun, ammo a plenty everywhere just as the 12 Ga.
.223 AR-15 or Ruger mini-14 ranch rifle.
.308 Remington 500 or similar for long range.
Taurus Judge also, uses .45 acp, .45 colt AND .410 ! 410 buckshot up close means you can`t miss as one could with a single bullet.
Just make sure you clean it after the range.
I shot an AR in highpower competition. Get a foreign-made AK-47, the AR stovepipes too easily.
As well as buying a new gun, you may also need to rewatch “Day of the Dead”, “Resident Evil” and other zombie movies. In a true Obamaclypse you will need not only firearms, but a chainsaw and a fire-axe. And don’t let them bite you!
There are US made AK-47’s in 5.56. Not super accurate but the ammo is available. I’d personally get a Beretta semi-auto shotgun...but I don’t own any guns, they’re way too scary, especially the black ones.
SIG 556 is pretty sweet...

PS: Get a reloader, plenty of gunpowder and bullet heads.
Re-Loader is a MUST !
They cost too much ... the ammo is expensive, and you would have to clean them.
Besides, you won't need firearms in an 0bama country.
PPS:
Absolutely nothing wrong with the trusty .22
Ammo, like 500 for 20 bucks and with high velocity at short range is very deadly.
I’m not sure if they fall within your guidelines, but —
- For concealed carry purposes, I’ve always liked the Walther PPK. Its compact, concealable, and has good stopping power.
- I also like the Heckler and Koch USP Compact (good, but expensive), and the Walther P99/ Smith & Wesson SW99.
- For home defense, nothing beats a pistol-gripped shotgun ... good spread, easy aim, and the signature cocking noise generally would scare off criminals without having to fire a shot.

Drill Sergeant Joe B. Frick’s - Rules For A Gunfight
1. Forget about knives, bats and fists. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns. Bring four times the ammunition you think you could ever need.
2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammunition is cheap - life is expensive. If you shoot inside, buckshot is your friend. A new wall is cheap - funerals are expensive
3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.
4. If your shooting stance is good, you’re probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly.
5. Move away from your attacker and go to cover. Distance is your friend. (Bulletproof cover and diagonal or lateral movement are preferred.)
6. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a semi or full-automatic long gun and a friend with a long gun.
7. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.
8. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running. Yell “Fire!” Why “Fire”? Cops will come with the Fire Department, sirens often scare off the bad guys, or at least cause them to lose concentration and will.... and who is going to summon help if you yell “Intruder?”
9. Accuracy is relative: most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on “pucker factor” than the inherent accuracy of the gun.
10. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.
11. Always cheat, always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
12. Have a plan.
13. Have a back-up plan, because the first one won’t work. “No battle plan ever survives 10 seconds past first contact with an enemy.”
14. Use cover or concealment as much as possible, but remember, sheetrock walls and the like stop nothing but your pulse when bullets tear through them.
15. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.
16. Don’t drop your guard.
17. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees. Practice reloading one-handed and off-hand shooting. That’s how you live if hit in your “good” side.
18. Watch their hands. Hands kill. Smiles, frowns and other facial expressions don’t (In God we trust. Everyone else keep your hands where I can see them.)
19. Decide NOW to always be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH.
20. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.
21. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet if necessary, because they may want to kill you.
22. Be courteous to everyone, overly friendly to no one.
23. Your number one option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
24. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with anything smaller than “4”.
25. Use a gun that works EVERY TIME. “All skill is in vain when an Angel blows the powder from the flintlock of your musket.” At a practice session, throw you gun into the mud, then make sure it still works. You can clean it later.
26. Practice shooting in the dark, with someone shouting at you, when out of breath, etc.
27. Regardless of whether justified of not, you will feel sad about killing another human being. It is better to be sad than to be room temperatire.
28. The only thing you EVER say afterwards is, “He said he was going to kill me. I beleived him. I’m sorry, Officer, but I’m very upset now. I can’t say anything more. Please speak with my attorney.”
Finally, Drill Sergeant Frick’s Rules For Un-armed Combat.
1: Never be unarmed.
2: If you have your hands, your feet, your mind and your Spirit as an American Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine or Coastie, you are never unarmed.

If you can't find one of those, I have been very happy with my Glock 27.
For later
All of them.

I’ve never fired a gun in my life, but my wife and I are going to pick up a rifle and a revolver on Saturday.
“Must be able to defend against groups of foraging liberals, desperate for a handout”
Thank God for FR. I didn’t think I’d be laughing so soon after this defeat. I thought I might tune out of everything after if we lost but I can’t keep away.
I love these threads.
GAU-8?
May I suggest..........
The Armsel Striker (Also known as Striker-12, Protecta, Protecta Bulldog and Street Sweeper) is a revolver 12-gauge shotgun created for the purpose of riot control and combat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiMQ981lph0
The bad news-The Striker is difficult to procure in the United States of America as it has been labelled as a destructive device under the National Firearms Act with no sporting purpose by the U.S. Justice Department’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
have no idea..just googled it and saw that that was ONE BIG GUN!
Mini 14.
Robust design. Fires .223. Relatively inexpensive. Large magazines availible. Accurate with iron sites out to about 300 yds.
If you are more flexible with ammunition, 7.62x38 ammo can be effectively used in a number of weapons.
My brother has a semi auto rifle that shoots a handgun caliber. Can’t remember the specifics but it is accurate out post 100 yds and shoots the same ammo as his side arm.
Personally, I am partial to 12 gauge pump shotguns. A good variety of ammo for different uses. Very effective. Can push in fresh shells between shots to keep the tube full. Unlikely to jam. Very intimidating even when facing a group. Can also harvest game from squirrel to deer.
