[Misleading title. Jindal was born in Louisiana] Golden chance for 'Indian-born' Jindal
Hindustan Times ^ | Washington, November 06, 2008 | Pramit Pal Chaudhuri

Posted on 11/07/2008 12:26:51 AM PST by nickcarraway

The Republican Party is in tatters. Over the next few years the party will have to rebuild itself and even select new faces in the coming decade. Among the top candidates for the job is the Indian-born governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal. “Jindal is going to be one of the big gainers from a full-scale Republican defeat,” said a key Indian-American political fund-raiser.

The Republicans are roughly at the same stage in their history that the Democrats were at after the Ronald Reagan wave. What was notable about John McCain’s defeat was how many traditionally red states turned blue. Virginia, for example, has not voted Republican for 44 years.

The Grand Old Party will need to carry out three separate reforms.

First will be to find working ideology. McCain’s defeat indicates that the Reagan mix of Christian votes and tax cuts can no longer win independent and moderate votes. Without these, the party cannot win the presidency.

Jindal is part of a younger generation of Republicans who retain the conservative values but combine it with high levels of administrative efficiency and a squeaky-clean image. It helps that Jindal made his mark in the field of healthcare, one of the issues that led many working class Americans to defect to the Democrats. Jindal is scheduled to visit Iowa next month, a pilgrimage that all presidential hopefuls make.

“Indian-born Jindal”?
Bobby Jindal was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Are we going to have a bunch of ‘Bobby Jindal birth certificate’ nonsense in 2012?
Where is Phil Berg and Andy Martin?

McCain’s defeat indicates that the Reagan mix

what reagan mix? I sure didn’t see it with mccain bashing Wall Street and competing with Obama over who can regulate the economy the most. I sure didn’t see it with his support for the bailout and the Hillary mortgage plan.

There’s some truth to that. Most of my lib friends say they detest Rahm who reeks of Clinton..so they say. Plus he’s a Jew and we know what the last powerful Dem Jew (Lieberman) did the last time.

I don’t like the suggestion that Jindal being Indian matters one whit. That’s Obama’s and the Dems’ game, not ours.

Jindal can stand on his merits and character, just as any candidate should.

The author obviously is clueless. Jindal was born in La, and that red states didn’t turn blue. If anyone looked at the elctoral map, county by county, it’s the same BUT the heavily populated centers turned bluer. The author’s brain must be fully of tandoori chicken and curry to sound this ridiculous without any research.

This boob of an author needs to get his facts straight. American born Govenor Jindal won in a landslide BECAUSE he stuck to core conservative principals.

BTW, the jury is still out with the Gov. He raised some eyebrows when he almost let the state legislature vote themselves an exhorbitant pay raise. Only under pressure from outraged conservatives did he veto the bill.

I think this is a good time for him to become seasoned and perhaps someday we'll see a Palin/Jindal ticket.

Problem is that Jindal, Conservative as he is, has charisma only slightly higher than that of Tom Ridge, and would be unable to energize the crowds and pack the venues like Sarah Palin did. He might be a good VP pick, but he won’t get anywhere as a presidential candidate.

“They have already started to try to dig up dirt on him.”

I don’t believe the mainstream media any more. I’ll go with my own gut and prayers and what info I can get from hard document sources, (and not from what is “spun” from said hard documents). I saw Jindal’s performance during the hurricaine season, he has the smarts and character to do what is right.

Character matters from now on and not lefties (or even lefty lites in the Republican base).

That’s ok, facts don’t mean anything.

Just yesterday I read an article written by the brilliant Karl Rove that said that Obama was the son of an “immigrant” from Kenya.

But he wasn’t. His father was a visiting student, not an immigrant.

Did you vote for Obama? No? Then the MSM doesn't care what you think - you're irrelevant.

This is about keeping any potential GOP candidate at an equal or lower standing as McCain had with any existing Obama voter.

They don't need us - they simply need to keep who they have. So tear down anyone better than McCain to be equal or worse than McCain in the eyes of the Marxist Messiah's voters and they win again.

You missed my point though, I won’t allow any MSM “push supporting” of any Republican to influence my thinking. Knowing the history of the MSM, any Republican they support in the primary races loses my vote, unless the “talk” of the candidate matches up with his walk.

To: mdmathis6

Noo, I didn’t miss your point - I think your point is irrelevant...:)

The real point is to make ANY Republican candidate unacceptable not to you or me, but to the current Obama worshipers. The Slavery Party hacks (I will never again call them Democrats, for they are the party that fought a war for Slavery and choose to use economic Slavery to keep power now) fear ANY Republican candidate; not just Palin, or Jindal, or McCain. ANY Republican.

So, they will use the MSM to tear them all down. What WE think of the Republicans is irrelevant; we did not vote for the Marxist Messiah. They do not need to keep us on the plantation. They need to make sure that none of their current slaves escape to the Republican ticket.

The MSM teardown of GOP candidates is not about you or me, or trying to “select” our next Presidential candidate. Romney, Giuliani, Thompson would have been beaten just as bad as McCain; Tancredo or Hunter would have seen an even worse drubbing.

No, the MSM teardown of any potential GOP candidates is meant to keep their current slaves on the plantation. Making sure whoever voted for That One still votes for him again.

Like I said; what you and I think doesn’t matter. All that matters is keeping the current 53% of voters on the plantation.

The MSM is starting to care because their stocks are seriously in the toilet. If conservatives are not watching their news or reading their content, they go out of business.

Do you think liberal votes and their children can make up the difference....nope...half of them think that Palin would make a good VP choice for Obama..so it shows what little reading and info on the issues they have.

“The Republican Party is in tatters”

The Republican Party, even if tattered, has withstood the combined winds of the Democrats and media. The Democrat house is built on sand and quakes at every gale.

No, I was making a point about what I plan to do about my own voting;I don’t care if the MSM finds me or my view- point irrelevant or you do. I just have to know when I find myself irrelevant in my own eyes and in violation of my own conscience!

Rino’s have half a conservative conscience about what they should do and believe, but they haven’t gotten over that need for approval from all potential detractors. They want a quasi conservatism, but they want it to be “cool and hip’ and will compromise of key issues just to keep their mental constructs of themselves as being “reasonable center right moderates”. The are neither hot nor cold and need to be spit out of the mouth of conservatives like the Laodiceans they are!

A bit distressing to see that map after Tuesday. It used to be a LOT more red. Comparing it with 2004, it’s similar to an MRI result that shows advancing brain death as the oxygenated, healthy red cells die over time, leaving only lifeless blue ones. Those that are purple appear to be those cells in a stage of dying off.

Only repeated, heavy doses of conservatism will revive this critically ill patient.
